Gabe looked around again, just in case, before speaking again.
"I'm right here for you, Alex."
Gabe looked around again, just in case, before speaking again.
"I'm right here for you, Alex."
He let out another quiet whine, shaking his head.
"I'm right here, and I won't leave until you're okay." Gabe started close to Alex, keeping his voice low and calm.
Alex swallowed softly, trying to calm down but he couldn't, he couldn't, there was a ghost and it was bringing back too many memories.
Gabe went silent for a moment, trying to think.
"Will leaving help?" He asked.
"I-I d-don't— I don't kn-know…"
"Okay, okay," Gabe said smoothly. "That's okay." Gabe was being so gentle with Alex. Eventually the ghost left, not being able to get Alex to have a conversation with him. He would be back though.
Alex calmed down a little bit when the ghost left, and he let out a shuddering breath.
Gabe watched Alex closely.
"How are you doing now?" He asked softly.
He shrugged, still shaky and shuddering.
"Okay then," Gabe said softly.
"If it alright for me to pick you up?"
Alex blinked at him, then nodded slightly. "Y-yeah." he replied softly.
"Alright then," Gabe said. He carefully picked Alex up out of the chair, carrying him to the bedroom.
Alex leaned into Gabe, still trembling and shaking, eyes squeezed shut.
Gabe sat down in the new room with Alex in his lap, holding him close.
Alex leaned into him still, trying to calm down. Trying to stop thinking about isolated rooms and padded cells, straightjackets and restraints and ice baths for hours.
Gabe pulled Alex close.
"Just listen to my voice, okay? You don't even have to pay attention to what I'm saying, just to sound of my voice."
(not gonna be on tonight sorry)
Alex whimpered, clinging to Gabe and trying to listen. Trying not to get too distracted by all this.
(that's fine!)
Gabe started to talk, about the weather, the factory, even the walk home. He avoided anything bad, just telling Alex anything to distract him from his own mind.
Alex listened quietly, shuddering a little bit as he tried to calm down.
Gabe continued softly, more focused on his tone and infliction then what he was actually saying.
"My mom would have loved you," he said, "she was like me. Always wanting to help everyone."
He took a deep breath, still trying to calm down.
Gabe began rubbing Alex's back. By now, he was slowly looking for a subject that would catch Alex's attention, and get him to talk back.
Alex let out another little breath, clinging to Gabe and trying to calm down.
Gabe held Alex close.
"You know," he said quietly, "I really consider you my friend. I mean it. You're a wonderful person."
Alex looked up at him. "What?" He whispered. "But I-I'm…you…" He shook his head a little bit.
"What your are doesn't matter. It's what you do. And you've been a very nice person." Gabe gave Alex a small smile of reassurance.
Alex bit his lip. "But…" But I could kill you with a touch. Just a touch.
"You haven't done anything to hurt me," Gabe continued, "And you've been very sweet. I enjoy the time I spend with you." Gabe gave Alex a sweet look, still holding him close.
Alex blinked up at him. "I-I…you have?" he whispered, still curled up in Gabe's lap and wondering what that look was for, wondering what it meant.
