He looked around quietly, nodding a little bit. "Okay. Thank you, Victor." He said softly.
He looked around quietly, nodding a little bit. "Okay. Thank you, Victor." He said softly.
"Of course." His eyes were warm and filled with gentle compassion. He led Jared down the stairs and into the basement area. "What do you think?" The room was warm and comfortable. It had a nice queen sized bed, a closet, another door that lead to a bathroom, a tv, a bookshelf, and a few other things that could keep Jared busy for a while. "Please, make yourself at home."
Jared looked around quietly, setting his book on the bed. "Thank you." He said quietly. "I know that this…this wasn't in your job description, I…"
"Hey, hey. Easy. It's alright. My job is to protect you. Any means necessary." He chuckles softly. "You're welcome here for as long as you need." He gently set a hand on Jared shoulder and smiled a little bit.
He looked up at Victor. "I…I just don't…I don't mean to intrude on you or…or anything, I…"
He shook his head gently and offered a small smile. "You're not intruding, I promise." He eases gently. "You're welcome here for as long as you need." His voice was soothing and soft.
He was still obviously anxious and off balance, but he nodded a little. "Thank you." He whispered.
He nods and smiles warmly, his eyes soft. "Of course." He chuckles and gazes at the other. "What would you like for dinner?" He asks curiously.
"I, uhm, don't have a preference." He replied, fidgeting a little bit.
He nods slowly and offers a gentle smile. "I promise you're safe here. Are you allergic to anything, Jared?" he asks gently.
He shook his head. "No. I've got… seasonal allergies but that's… different." He said slowly.
He nods and smiles a little bit. "Alright." He rubbed his shoulder. "Please, just relax and make yourself at home."
He nodded faintly, trying to relax but finding it really hard.
He smiled a little bit and left the room before moving to the kitchen. He starts on dinner, humming softly to himself.
He sat down on the bed, chewing on his lip faintly.
He cooks quietly, making to set out an extra plate for his sister. He hummed quietly as he worked, humming along with the radio that played softly in the background.
He lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling and taking deep breaths.
After a half hour or so, Victor gently knocks on the door. "Jared? Dinner is ready." He calls gently.
Jared sat up, coming over to the door and opening it quietly. "Okay."
He smiled gently, his gaze soft. "I hope you're hungry." He walks down the hall, guiding Jared to the kitchen.
Jared shrugged. "I…I guess so." He said softly, chewing on his lip a little bit.
He nods and sets the other at the table. "What drink would you like? Wine, orange juice, milk, water, uhhh. I have some other stuff. It's really up to you."
"I don't really have a preference." He replied slowly. "Any is fine, I guess."
He nods and smiles a little before pouring two cups of water and hands one to the other. "Here we are." He smiles and settles down across from Jared.
"Thank you." He said softly, taking the glass and sitting down at the table.
He nods and settles down as well, just giving a relieved sigh. Today had been long, but they were safe now. "Of course." He offers a kind smile.
He returned the smile hesitantly, looking tired.
"I think tonight you should rest. It's been hectic to say the least." He offers a small reassuring smile.
He nodded a little bit. "Yeah. Thanks for…for letting me stay here." He said softly.
He nods, "Of course. You're more than welcome here." He assures gently. Victor pushed some hair from his eyes and ate slowly.
