Connor shrugged again. "Am ah no' allowed ta care?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
Connor shrugged again. "Am ah no' allowed ta care?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
“I never said that, don’t put words into my mouth. I only said that I didn’t expect that you would, is all.” Wilhelm pursed his lips, unintentionally clipping his words.
Connor frowned a little. "Alright, alright. Dinnae get crabby with me fer tha'." He looked down at his hands for a moment, shaking his head slightly.
Wilhelm fidgeted a bit. “I’m sorry, Connor. I didn’t realize it would come out like that.” He partially covered his mouth with a hand, gritting his teeth.
Connor shrugged. "'s fine." He replied, looking at his hands still. His thin fingers were stained with graphite from the drawing he had done.
Wilhelm picked underneath his fingernails, occasionally wincing in pain when his hand slipped and went too far deep under his nail. He shook his hand out, still quiet.
Connor ran his hands through his hair, the unruly red curls bouncing back into place afterwards.
Wilhelm fell back onto his bed, checking his watch. He covered his face with his forearms and let out a quiet sigh.
Connor glanced over at him again, and sighed softly.
“It feels like it’s so much later than it really is.” Wilhelm groaned, rubbing his eyes.
Connor laughed a little. "Yeah. 't does." He agreed, looking over at Wilhelm and letting out a breath.
“Why do you think that is?” Wilhelm turned onto his side, resting on his arms. He looked at Connor with his multicolored eyes, awaiting a response.
"Ah dinnae ken." Connor replied, accent coming stronger for a moment. "Ah'd guess because o' th' time we go' up, bu'…" he shrugged.
“That.. that seems like a good guess, actually.” Wilhelm nodded, rubbing his eyes. “I just know that I’m so goddamn tired.”
Connor chuckled softly. "Then go ta sleep." he replied. "Take a nap if ya need t'. Ah'll wake yeh in an hour or so if yeh want to."
Wilhelm stretched, a small smile on his face. “Actually, I wouldn’t hate that. If it’s not too much trouble, do you mind waking me up in an hour or so?”
Connor nodded. "Yeah, tha's fine." he replied with a faint smile. "Ah'll jus' read or somethin'."
Wilhelm gave Connor a quick thumbs-up, already covering his face from the light. He tugged a pillow over his head, falling asleep within a matter of minutes.
Connor opened up his book and started to read. His eyes dragged over to Wilhelm every now and again.
Wilhelm was now curled up on his bed, his pillow having fallen off of his face and now simply next to him.
Connor smiled a little. He reached over and gently lifted Wilhelm's head, sliding the pillow underneath.
He shifted and stirred a little, but otherwise slept like a dead man.
Connor sat back down, watching Wilhelm for a moment.
Wilhelm twisted in his sleep, now in a position that really couldn’t be comfortable (or good for his spine). He straightened back out after a few minutes, although he clung to his pillow like nothing else.
Connor bit his lip a little bit, watching Wilhelm still. He found himself wishing that…that he was the one that Wilhelm was holding onto. Though he wasn't quite sure where this thought was coming from.
Wilhelm, while a deep sleeper, clearly wasn’t a still one. He was constantly moving and readjusting, only really and truly still for a minute or two at a time.
Connor watched him for a while longer, then realized that that was a tad on the creepy side, and went back to his book.
Wilhelm awoke momentarily on his own, nearly jolting up, though he suppressed the urge. The boy was back asleep within five minutes.
Connor looked up when Wilhelm awoke, but was quiet, going back to his book.
Wilhelm woke up after another half-hour or so. He finally sat up this time, rubbing his eyes and running his fingers through his bedhead.
