"It's okay to not know," Steve told him, thinking of his own confusion as an example. "We'll figure this out together, and things'll turn out." He had to hope that they would; knowing well that he couldn't lose him again.

Maybe? Steve repeated in his mind, moving towards the front entry of the theatre and entering, there can't be a maybe. "Hi," He greeted when they reached the ticketing booth. Buying things online was too much of a hassle; he prefered to pay for things face-to-face. "Two for…Three's a crowd." The clerk nodded, printing their tickets after accepting Steve's cash.

Bucky stayed near Steve, running a hand over the top of his head. His hair was pulled back in that loose, low bun still, and in reality, he really did look good like that.

Steve thanked the clerk and nodded toward the right auditorium, trying to brush off the discreet look she gave the two of them. He surveyed the main entrance as they moved to the right room, raising an eyebrow at their questionable choice in carpet and dim lighting.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky stayed near Steve, examining the room. His eyes traced around the room for threats, for anyone that could be a danger to either him or Steve. He wanted to protect Steve too, though he wasn't sure why. He wasn't sure why he wanted to. But he did. And he would. The world needs Captain America more than it needs me. And for some reason, that thought felt so familiar.

The theatre was comfortably empty, groups of friends and couples scattered over the wide selection of seats. Steve glanced at Bucky, loosely gesturing to an empty row that wasn't too close to the screen or too far back. "These okay?" He asked.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky nodded, sitting down. He didn't remember ever being in a theater before, though he knew he had been. He sighed, shifting in the seat and trying to get comfortable.

The lights dimmed soon after Steve sat down, and the quiet chatter of the room died down. God, I hope this doesn't turn out to be a mess, Steve prayed, hoping that Tony's…or Pepper's movie reccomendation was a good idea.

@ElderGod-Icefire

The movie started. It did not escape Bucky's notice that the main male leads were blond and brunette, and that the brunette had longer hair. He watched the movie.

(Like I said earlier, I'm completely making this up off the top of my head)

Steve quirked an eyebrow at the two actors, well known, probably– but they coincidentally looked like them. Is that why…? The film was fairly normal as it went on, earning a few chuckles from the audience and every now and then, Steve as well.

(yep, and i think im predicting the ending ;)

@ElderGod-Icefire

As the film progressed, it became quite clear that Tony had lied, just a little, considering that one of the men was openly gay, and that the "female love interest" was in fact nothing of the sort, and was in fact the guy's cousin.

(Yup XD. Because it's something Tony would do lmao)

Steve found himself almost laughing at the slow realization of what Tony had done, the bastard, I'll get him for this. There wasn't anything he could do now except wait for it to be over and succumb to whatever awkwardness was waiting for the two of them. He rested his head on a propped up arm, somehow rooting for the two characters but wishing for something to make it a little less shocking. Back then, this type of thing would have never made it onto a screen.

(hahaa and steves gonna just look at him like (° ͟ʖ °) "why???" )

@ElderGod-Icefire

And as the film progressed, the two guys spent an almost agonizing amount of time dancing around their feelings, before finally, the long awaited kiss and confession and a date. Bucky was silent through it all, his eyebrows raised just a little bit, leaning his head on his palm with his hand covering his mouth slightly.

(Lmaoo)

Steve couldn't help but feel relieved once they finally got together, all the hesitation and questioning between the two was exhausting to know about, and he tried to ignore the fact that that was probably how Tony felt. Steve waved those thoughts away, There won't be anything like…that.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Then it was finally, finally over, with the happy-ever-after ending of any American movie. The credits began to roll and the lights came on. Bucky sat up, shifting in his seat and unsure what to say.

"Hmm," Steve sounded, trying to make out what he really thought of the movie. A waste of twenty bucks. If I wanted to feel super vulnerable and awkward, I'd go to therapy. –And I am, in fact, going to therapy. Well– He slowly rose from his seat, stretching and sighing, "…What did you think?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky looked at him, biting his lip. "I uhm…I don't know." he admitted. Something about the movie had struck him too close too home. He ran a hand over the top of his head, standing and sighing.

Deleted user

"Yeah, I–" Steve tried, but couldn't find the words. Liked it? Hated it? Wish I'd never seen it? Wish I could see it again?
"I don't know either." He said under his breath, slowly moving to get ready to leave.

"He said Pepper recommended it, which may or may not be true but–" Steve smiled, shaking his head, "He made it sound like something completely different when I talked to him. He called it a…what was it– a love triangle." He laughed, "That's rich."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky laughed a little bit, shaking his head a little bit, sighing softly. "Ah. Maybe." he put his hands in his pockets. "I don't think there was any love triangle in there."

Deleted user

"Yeah, no kidding." Steve smiled, glancing at his little laugh; the faintest echo of how he used to be. He moved through the short hall of the theater, spilling out into the front entrance. "He said– 'one girl, two guys.' Mhm, that's on me for not doing my research."

Deleted user

Steve chuckled, glad things weren't as awkward as he'd thought they'd be. "But really, what did you think?"

Deleted user

"That's for sure," Steve said through a laugh. But it's still something I kind of wanted… Any time the two leads were in public or talking about it… It made him strangely anxious, like something would go wrong as it would in the real world– and Steve would be reminded that this was nothing more than a pipe dream and that he couldn't have that.

Deleted user

"Well, I'll tell ya now that it wouldn't have gone smoothly." Steve chuckled, through felt sorry for all those men they'd read about in newspapers talking about their 'crimes.' "But…I'm happy that we're in a better time, now." He said, though his own ears heard a different truth behind his words.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky nodded a little bit. Maybe…I could act on those feelings I remember? He wondered. He swallowed at that thought. No, not a good idea. I don't know how he feels.
