"Okay then," Arien said in hushed tones. He stepped over the dead man's body, jumping up lightly to the rooftop. He wasn't risking running into anyone else. The trip to Dan's house was quick, the ride for Dan smooth. Arien set down lightly, carrying Dan up to his apartment.
"We're here," Arien said softly. He set Dan down gently. "Do you need me to stay here for a bit?" he asked quietly.
"I'll be fine." He said a bit shakily then took out his keys and opened his door before stepping inside.
"Are you sure?" Arien asked. He didn't follow Dan in, though. He couldn't without permission. "I just want to make sure you're alright."
"Um, alright." Dan nodded and looked back at him.
"Uh… does that mean I can come in?" Arien asked, standing next to the threshold.
"Yeah." Dan nodded then went to his room and burried himself under the covers in bed. He didn't even change into his pajamas, he only put his phone and wallet down.
Arien stepped lightly into the apartment, closing the door behind him. He watched Dan settle in from the hall, worried for him.
Dan started crying softly into his pillow after he was covered by blankets. He was just so scared. He knew it was over and he was safe now… But the guy had a gun to him, he could have died.
Arien hesitated a moment, then stepped into Dan's room. He walked over to the bed, kneeling down next to it and lightly putting his hand on Dan's head.
Dan flinched for a second then relaxed.
Arien pulled his hand away a little when Dan flinched, but set it down again.
"You were so brave," he said softly.
"not really…" He mumbled, "I'm just going to go to sleep."
"Okay," Arien said. "I'll stay until you do."
Dan nodded and closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep after awhile.
Arien, when he saw Dan was asleep, tucked Dan in a little more, then left.
(Timeskip?)
Dan woke up in the morning and sighed gladly remembering it was his day off. So he stayed in bed not wanting to leave it's warmth.
Arien was walking back from visiting his friend, passing by Dan's apartment. He glanced up, then looked back and forth before turning into a bat and flying up to Dan's window to check on him. He was still worried about Dan, having seen how shaken up he had been.
Dan was still in bed it was clear. He was laying there and it wasn't clear if he was awake or not though.
Arien watched Dan for a moment, perched on the windowsill, before slipping through the glass. He was still a bat, and he flew over to land on the table beside Dan's bed.
Dan looked up when he heard something come in and stared at the bat confused. His eyes were still a bit red and puffy from crying.
"It's me," Arien said when Dan looked at him in confusion.
"I just stopped by to see how you're feeling. Last night was really rough on you."
"I'm alright, I'll get up soon enough." Dan said and nodded.
Arien nodded in return.
"Okay. I'm sorry I hadn't gotten there sooner, last night."
"It's ok, it's not your job anyway." Dan said and smiled slightly.
Arien sighed a little.
"Even if it's not my job, you're a nice person. I don't want to see you hurt."
Dan nodded and yawned a bit. "Thanks."
Arien nodded, yawning as well.
"So… I should leave," he mumbled. He crawled to the edge of the table, taking off for the window.
"You could stay if you want." Dan said and slowly got up out of bed.
Arien landed on the windowsill when Dan spoke, turning back to look at him.
"You sure?" He asked. He knew he would be falling asleep soon… but he wanted to spend time with Dan too.
"Yeah, it's fine, though after I eat I'm probably going to go back to bed and rest."
