"Who told you that? Who told you that you were the perfect girl? It certainly wasn't me." He replied, hovering above her. He wanted to have the higher ground, and as they spoke, he did.
"Everyone They assume they know me No one knows me" she said.
"When have I Caroline?" He asked, emphasizing the word I. He was trying not to snap at her.
" I don't know but I'm sure you've thought it" she said.
"Maybe before I talked to you." He replied taking her hand in his. "But I've talked to you, and I know nobody is perfect."
She looked at thier hands then at him with soft eyes and a quivering bottom lip
"Especially me. I'm far from perfect." He whispered lacing their finger together.
She ran her thumb over the knuckle on his thumb refusing to look in his eyes.
"You know I'm not, I've screwed up with you." He said soft, using his other hand to tilt her chin up.
Her breath got caught In her throat as she looked in his eyes.
"How much do you hate me?" He asked, his own eyes glossed over as they stood there together.
She brought her hand that wasn't being held and cupped his cheek " Brad, I…I don't hate you" she said
"Are you sure? I'm a really big pain in-" The shrill bell echoed in the halls, and he dropped the hand that was tilting her chin up.
Caroline figured it out she was embarrassed didn't want to be be seen with the good girl she nodded and started to let go of his hand
"Wait- no Caroline," He started, holding her hand a little tighter. "I need to talk to you, but it may take a couple hours to get it all out. So during school isn't the best time." He said gently.
" Whenever your free. . .I guess" she said with a shrug
"No, when is it convenient for you?" Brad asked softly.
"after school" she asked.
"It works for me. Where at?" He said bringing her hand up to his lips, laying a kiss on it gently.
She closed her eyes before opening them once more " Liam's" she said.
Liam's was the diner in town that all the teenagers hung out at
"Are you sure you want to go there? It'll be crowded considering it's a Friday. The game is tonight too, so people will be crowding that place." He noted, just to double check with her.
" we could go to my house my parents are out of town" she said
"If you'll have me, I'd love that." He smiled gently.
" Great " she said with a smile
"I'll see you after school then?" He asked pulling away from her.
She nodded walking away her hips swaying a bit
He avoided looking at her, before jogging off to his class. He tried to avoid to be late, but failed coming in five minutes late.
The morning past quickly untill she was standing in the cafeteria with her tray a salad on it, looking for Collins
Collins was already there, eating a soggy sandwich with a frown. He was lonely, and bored out of his mind as he waited for Caroline. Brad was nowhere in sight.
