She loved what a simple kiss from him could do to her, how at ease it could make her.

Finally, after a few more moments, he pulled away, booping her on the nose.

She rolled her eyes with a smile, booping his nose in return.

"Gosh I love you. And now I get to spend the rest of my life with you."

"Good luck, my love, you're going to need it. I'm a handful at the best of times."

"And so am I. Guess we've both got our work cut out for us then."

"Are you kidding? Dealing with you is going to be an absolute walk in the park."

Dorian snorted, hiding his face in the crook of her neck, "I'll let you believe that for now."

"I'll let myself believe it because I know it's true."

"Mhmm, guess you'll just have to find out if it is or not."

"If I've managed to deal with my insane family after 10 years of my mother being gone, I think I'll be okay. As long as you're not like them."

"I would never, ever lay a hand on you like they did. And in case it somehow happens, even though I promise you it won't, I want you to put me in my place."

If I couldn't even defend myself against people I despise, how am I ever going to defend myself from someone that I actually love? Despite her thoughts, she nodded. "Okay…"

Dorian lifted up her hand, "I love you, and I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you ever again."

"I just don't want you to be hurt because of something stupid that I did. Keep yourself safe before me, okay Romeo?"

"I can't make any promises on that front, love."

"Dorian please. Promise me you'll protect yourself. If I hear that you got hurt defending me when you should've been defending yourself, I'll never forgive myself."

"Fine fine. Okay. But I don't know how much I'll be able to keep that, though."

She sighed softly, stroking his cheek. "Just be safe out there, okay?"

He leaned into her touch, "I will. I always am."

"I'm just saying. Your bravado can dangerous sometimes."

"I know I know. But I just want to keep you safe."

"And I want you to be safe. So just stay here with me and we can make sure we're both safe."

"Fine, for now I'll stay here. But we'll have to head back to the manor at some point."

"Do we have to? Why can't we just stay here and be happy?"

"Because sadly I have things I need to do and responsibilities that need attending to."

"Boo!" She pouted. "Your fiancee wants attention."

Dorian wrapped his arms around her middle, kissing her shoulder, "Am I not giving you enough, now?"

"But that's now! I can't just store up attention, it's like oxygen, you constantly need more of it."

"Well, I guess I'll be quick then. And you can come and visit people with me, but it would be very boring for you."
