He got up with his food and brought Marco to an empty bathroom. He locked the door and leaned on the wall. “You change back if you want.” Levi set him on the ground.

Marco took a breath and forced himself to shift back, pressed against the door of the bathroom stall nervously, eyes on the floor in both fear and shame.

“I get why you might be scared and jumpy. You know I will protect you right? Even though you broke my heart, you’re my soulmate I still care about you.” Levi sighed. “Now talk to me.”

Marco slid back down to his knees at those words, about ready to cry. "I-I'm sorry…" he whispered hoarsely, finding himselfunable to even look at the other.

“Hey, it’s alright. It’s not like your required to love me. I did force you to come with me. So it’s more of my fault…” Levi ran over and sat in front of him. “Hey, look at me okay?” Levi cupped his cheeks and lifted his head.

Marco instinctively shrunk away from him, but let the other lift his head to look at him. "I'm sorry…." he said again, "I-I'm not worth it… i'm not…"

He kissed his lips and then pulled away a few second after. “S-Sorry. I just acted. I didn’t mean to kiss you…especially not in a school bathroom on the floor. Please don’t be mad.”

Marco just blushed dark enough for it to be visible, not sure what to think of the fact that the other had just stolen his first kiss.

“You hate me don’t you. I’m sorry, really sorry. I just want you to know that I think your worth it. Even if I have to hunt you down again.” He moved away from him. “I should probably keep my distance.”

"I-I never hated you…" he said softly, "Never…. Just.. i-it was too much all at once…. I.. I've been relying onmy animal instincts so long… it.. it's hard to trust you… to trust reality…"

He nodded. “We should Umm. We should probably go…” he sighed and flashed a quick smile.

Marco hummed softly, "Should.. should I shift?" he asked nervously.

“Y-Yeah…that would probably be best.” Before he stood up he looked at Marco. “Can I kiss you again?”

"I.. I don't think I'm ready for that yet.." he said softly "What should I shift into?"

“Right, sorry. Whatever you think is best…” he got up and turned around hitting his head. snap out of it he doesn’t like you that way!

Marco shakily got to his feet, hesitantly laying a hand on Levi's shoulder. "I-It's not that I don't care…" he said softly, "Think.. think of it like a stray dog… he's been hurt so much he's forgotten the training and friendship he had with his former owners, and any hope of having that is near gone." he said softly, "I eant to learn to truat you, but you have to give me time to work up to that… please…"

“I-I know. I’m not forcing you to trust me. I’m just not used to this…I’m not used to loving someone. No matter how many times I want to walk away from you and stop trying with you. I always come back. You have no emotions when your with me. The only side of you I get to see is the side that can’t trust people. No matter how many times my heart breaks from pulling away or running away. I always have hope that you’ll be able to trust me. I’m so stupid. I hate you for making me love you so much!” Through his words he started to cry. “I get it you’ve been through a lot. I understand that. I’m not asking you to just forget it. I’m just wondering how someone you’ve talking with…someone who opened up to you since you were young…someone who told you everything that they could…can then find you and you can’t even look at them without being afraid. I kissed you and you still look at me like I’m a stranger. I took you into my home, I gave you food, I told you how much I love you, I always gave it my all to try and get to know you or talk with you or just be with you in the span of two days. I poured my heart out to you and you’re still afraid?”

Marco shook his head softly, letting out a soft whimper. "There's a big difference between words and reality…. with.. with writing… I always knew that if something were there that hurt me, I could cover it up… I could defend… But in reality…. he shook his head. "Reality hurts… it hurts too much to face half the time, and if weren't for the fact that you'd feel it, I'd probably be dead by now… or in worse shape than I am now." He took a breath, trying really hard to open up.
"Do.. do you remember that one week.. that one week where I didn't respond to any of your messages? And when I did I was vague? And didn't even try to give you an explanation whenever you asked?" he asked softly, biting down on his lower lip harshly.

He tried wiping his tears away, but it didn’t work. “Yeah…what about that?”

"That.. that was when everything fell apart…" he said softly, clearly struggling not to have a breakdown. "There… there was a fire… It killed y parents and the smoke killed my little sister a few days after…. y older siblings are in the ary overseas…. they're not due to come back until next year so…" he looked away with a softsigh. "Every time I tried to get help for my little sister we were turned away, even beaten up… w-we even encountered a group of thugs that tried to kidnap her…"

“You didn’t even think to tell me this? I could’ve helped. Where is your sister now?!” Levi turned around and grabbed Marco’s shoulders.

Marco flinched at the other's movements, but heldstill, "Hiding… I.. I can take you to meet her later… but…" he shook his head. "I don't think the damage can be undone anymore…" he chewed his lip. "An' I didn't tell you originally because we lived on the other side of the continent when it happened… I wasn't sure if you could help… and.. and when you wrote about your happy times…. that.. that's what's been keeping me going…"

He wrapped Marco in his arms. “Take me to her okay? Right now. At this point you mean more to me than school. Nothing like that will ever happen again okay? Take me to your sister.”

Marco found himself beig hugged, and at that point he couldn't help it, leaning into his touch. "I-It's not safe during the day….." he said softly, "We'd draw too much attention…."

“Then tonight okay? We’ll take care of her. We can even let her go to school if she wants to. Name it and I’ll give it to her. How about we get through the day first okay?” Levi let go of Marco and unlocked the bathroom door. “You should probably shift now.”

Marco nodded, chewing his lip a little in uncertainty as he shifted back into a cat, hoping he'd be small enough to slip through the last of Levi's classes.

“Hop in my bag.” He kneeled down and opened the top of his bag.

Marco nodded, hoppinh inside and settling himself in nervously.

"Don't worry only four more classes left. The last one is band. Will you be okay with that?" He whispered to Marco as he entered the class.
