"The- The ice, c-can't you see it?" He asked, clawing at his chest.
"The- The ice, c-can't you see it?" He asked, clawing at his chest.
He shook his head, gently grabbing Kyle’s hands. “It’s okay, its not real.”
"Caleb it hurts," He squeezed Caleb's hands, hard, "It- It hurts so much."
He barely even flinched, too caught up in worry. He didn’t know what was wrong. And he definitely didn’t know how to fix it.
The ice expanded, slowly becoming real. It tightened around Kyle's chest, almost constricting him. It spread towards their hands.
He cursed under his breath. “Kyle babe just focus okay. Do your best to breathe. Try and make it go away.”
He whimpered, nodding a little. He already was trying but clearly not hard enough. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt Caleb so he let out of the other's hands.
“No it’s okay,” he gently took his hands again. “You won’t hurt me. I can protect myself if I need to. But I believe in you.”
Kyle squeezed his eyes shut, "What if I do? Caleb I can't- I don't want to hurt you."
“I know you don’t. I can make a protective layer of darkness around my skin if I need to. So I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay right here by your side.”
He swallowed, giving Caleb's hands another squeeze. He tried taking some deep breathes, hoping that would help.
He kissed him gently on the forehead. “You‘ve pushed through this before Kyle you can do it again.”
The ice retracted a little from their arms, though the ice around Kyle's chest tightened.
“You Can do this. Try and get rid of the ice on your chest.”
It took a while, and for a moment he thought it wasn't going to disappear but eventually the ice retracted.
He smiled, hugging him gently. “Good job. I knew you could do it.”
Kyle sniffled, snuggling into Caleb, "I wish it would stop.."
“I know darling. We just have to keep fighting past it.” He hummed, running his fingers through Kyle’s hair. “One day at a time.”
He nodded a little, letting Caleb's touches relax and sooth him, calming his beating heart, "I wish I didn't have powers. They hurt so much."
“I know darling.” He kissed his forehead. “Hopefully they get better.”
Kyle sighed softly, "Yeah, hopefully.."
“Hey..look at me.” He gently cupped Kyle’s cheek. “I’ll always be right here with you to help.”
He looked up at Caleb with a small nod, "I know.. but… what if-" He bit his lip, "What if one day I- I have an attack and- and you're not there?"
“Then I’m only just a call away.” He reassured.
“What if I can’t get to a phone? What if it gets so bad that I can’t call you or anyone?”
“Then you’ll just have to remember what I’ve said before. You just have to take deep breaths and focus.” He kissed his forehead. “You know what I think? I think you’re stronger than you realize.”
Kyle pouted a little, fiddling with a loose thread on Caleb’s shirt, “I dunno about that…” He mumbled, “Caleb? What if I have an attack and I don’t…”
“You’ll be fine. You’re strong, and you can get through this. So please don’t talk like that…it scares me.”
He nodded a little, curling into the bigger male, “Yeah, okay.. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay..”he said softly, hugging Kyle tightly.
