“Sorry, sorry. It’s a force of habit.” Wilhelm shook out his hand, sighing just a bit. “I’ll try not to, yeah?”
“Sorry, sorry. It’s a force of habit.” Wilhelm shook out his hand, sighing just a bit. “I’ll try not to, yeah?”
Connor nodded, pulling his hand back. "It's fine. An' yeah, try no' to." he sighed softly.
Wilhelm straightened his posture, eyes sweeping the room. “You have anything big going on today? Classes-wise, I mean?”
Connor shrugged. "Ah dinnae know." He replied slowly. He took a cautious sip of tea. "Ah guess ah'll see."
“I guess so.” Wilhelm yawned, leaning on his elbows. He wasn’t quite sure what to do with his hands- normally he’d pick at his knuckles or nails, but that seemed to be off the table at the moment.
Connor looked over at him for a moment, studying him, then looked away again quickly. He's handsome…but I shouldn't. Not so soon after Jamie.
Wilhelm dug in his bag a bit, pulling out a pen and piece of paper and jotting a few things down. He shoved it back into his bag after a moment of reading the things over. The paper was already full of random notes and doodles accumulated over time, and it was a miracle he could still find space to write. Wilhelm ruffled his curls, looking outside the large windows facing the school’s courtyard.
Connor took another sip of his tea, thinking of the day before and everything that had happened. The fight, the letter.
“I feel like I should drop it, but I don’t think I can apologize enough for what happened yesterday.” Wilhelm gritted his teeth, thinking about the fight. “It was.. improper and childish.”
Connor looked up. "Oh. No, it's fine." He replied slowly. "Besides, it's no' yer fault." He blamed the fight on Romeo, though he wasn't going to say that just now.
“Ha, well. It certainly could be seen as my fault, I suppose.” Wilhelm shrugged, rubbing his eyes. “But I’ll let go of the subject the best that I can.”
Connor shrugged. "Ah dinnae know th' whole story, bu' Romeo was th' first ta throw a punch." he replied slowly, not looking at Wilhelm.
“I wouldn’t expect more of a story than that. It’s just how things are now.” Wilhelm averted his eyes. “I’m trying to patch the rift, though.”
"Yeah…" Connor's eyes flickered slightly, and he glanced at Wilhelm. "Ah didn't mean to insinuate tha' ah Wanted to hear the story! Ah'm no' tryin' ta be nosy." he added quickly.
“Oh- well, that’s definitely better. There’s not even a story to tell.” Wilhelm laughed, still leaning on his elbows.
Connor chuckled a little, taking a sip of tea. "Oh. Good." he raked a hand through his hair. "Sorry abou' tha'."
“Nothing to be sorry about, Connor.” Wilhelm adjusted his collar and cuffs once more, head cocked to the side just a bit as he talked.
Connor nodded, holding his tea in his hands. He studied Wilhelm for a moment, then looked away again.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again— I can barely stomach the weather here, just look at it!” Wilhelm beckoned to the window, groaning just a tad bit. “It’s so.. what’s the word.. depressing.” He laughed softly, shaking his head and clasping his fingers together. “Not to complain, but I won’t miss it when I’m gone, all this rain.”
Connor laughed. "It's England, Wil. This is wha' England an' Scotland are like. Tha's why it's so green here." he replied, glancing out the window, then at Wilhelm again.
Wilhelm ran his fingers through his hair. “Well, sure, but.. I don’t know, it’s just.. so dreary. Germany may not be perfect, but at least we’re not drowning in rain every day!” He laughed, leaning back in his chair.
Connor shrugged a little bit, taking another sip of tea. "It does nae rain every day." he replied, wrinkling his nose at Wilhelm.
“I know, I know.” Wilhelm raised his palms, a smile still on his lips. “You know what I mean, though.”
"Yeah. Ah do. But ah like the isle. It's home." he shook his head a little bit.
“Well, of course. I can’t fault you for liking your home, Connor- not that I’d want to, of course.” Wilhelm added the last part quickly, realizing how his statement could have come across.
Connor smiled a little. "Yeah, yeh dinnae need ta worry about it. Ah understood what yeh meant." he replied, looking over at Wilhelm.
Wilhelm sighed, relieved. “Good, good.. ah, the bell should be ringing soon, right?” The German boy checked his watch. “Yeah, it is. We have ten minutes or so.”
Connor nodded. "Alright. Ah guess we'll see how we did on th' tests, won't we?" he gave a small smile.
“Oh, shit!” Wilhelm jumped slightly, his face paling. “I forgot about that— oh, God, if I fail, I’m good as dead.” He wrung his hands, stopping only to nervously run them through his hair.
Connor blinked. "Woah woah woah, Wil, calm down." he held up a hand, putting it gently on Wilhelm's arm. "Shh. Calm down."
