Nyx shrugged. "I uhm…am not sure how well I would be able to taste it, though." He responded, shaking his head a little bit. "I'm not sure if my tongue is capable of it anymore."
Nyx shrugged. "I uhm…am not sure how well I would be able to taste it, though." He responded, shaking his head a little bit. "I'm not sure if my tongue is capable of it anymore."
“Hm,” Jude thought, he hadn’t really thought of that, “I’m sure we could think of something.” He had many old friends from college who’d gone off to bioengineering and robotics, and he still had their numbers.
Nyx shrugged a little. "Plus… I mean, I have all of my organs still, I think, but I don't know…how well they would work." He said slowly. "I don't really need to eat, so long as I have the pod, but…"
Jude nodded, running his hand over a rough-brick archway, “I’ll talk to someone.” He glanced at the skylights above, “The pod’s not gonna be convenient when you’re traveling the world.”
Nyx shrugged a little, then nodded. "Yeah. That's true." He replied with a faint smile. He ran his hand through his hair, wishing he could reach out and touch Jude's.
"And sleeping's another issue. We'll figure something out for that, too." He added, wishing he could come up with a solution for their other problem. Jude smiled, resisting the urge to frown at the thought of them continuing like this; stolen glances and little smiles would never be enough for him.
"I can sleep normally. I think." Nyx replied slowly. "I'm… actually not sure." He shrugged, eyebrows knitting together a little bit. He ran his fingers through his hair.
"Hmm." Jude smiled, quietly wondering if Nyx could dream too, "We'll try it out tonight, I phoned my buddies to bring in a futon while I was waitin' outside." He sighed, running a hand over the soft velvet rope that sectioned off places currently unavailable.
Nyx blinked. "Huh? Oh. Okay." He replied slowly. He shrugged his shoulders. Are you staying with me tonight, then? He wondered. Will you be with me on that futon? Or…? But he didn't ask.
"Yeah." Jude nodded, trying to organize his thoughts, And I will keep my distance and not cross any lines. It reminded him of prom, when he abandoned his date and the dance to get drunk on the football field with his best friend, telling himself to not to do anything he'd regret. "But until then..we have the whole afternoon– we can go anywhere."
(I gtg now. Good night!)
Nyx nodded a little. "Alright. Uhm…where are we going?" He asked. "Just here, or what?" He looked at Jude curiously.
"We can stay here for as long as you like, but after…" Jude shrugged, wandering absentmindedly around the hall they were in, smiling lazily, "After, maybe I'll show you my place. If you like. It's actually not that far, we could walk."
Nyx nodded a little bit. "Alright. That sounds good." He replied slowly, looking around as they walked. He was still sticking close to Jude, a little intimidated by all the people. Not that he would ever, ever have admitted that, of course.
Jude walked with Nyx through the galleries, occasionally pointing out famous works, living in the streaming sunlight of the museum and its huge skylights and imagining what it might be like to be here at sunset, would the orange and pink flood through the glass?
"Maybe we can watch the sunset on my roof– you get a great view of the city." Jude suggested, knowing that nothing would happen this time, but he wanted to spend as many sunsets as he could with him.
Nyx blinked. "Oh. I uhm…" He trailed off, biting his lip. He finally nodded slightly. "Alright. Sounds perfect." He wished that it would be like the last sunset. Holding hands and kissing. But he knew it wouldn't be. It couldn't be.
Perfect. Jude repeated, testing out the word in his mind. The roof of his apartment building had become his new spot for spending time alone, seeing that the field by the highway was a bit of a drive. Now, it was decorated with a few lawn chairs and scattered blankets, plants and a mini vegetable garden, a few heat lamps here and there, and a boombox from the nineties.
"–Hey, maybe I'll show you The Beatles." Jude smiled, remembering his collection of records, tapes, and CD's that lived in his apartment. "The band– they're pretty legendary."
Nyx cocked his head to one side, studying Jude for a moment. "The…Beatles? Like the bugs?" He asked slowly, raising his eyebrows. "I uhm…don't understand." He let out a quiet laugh.
Jude laughed, He's adorable. "No–" He grinned, "No, the music group. The band– from England," He almost let himself picture the two of them dancing to on the roof, wildly and– nope. Jude cleared his throat, "Really famous."
Nyx blinked. "Oh." he replied slowly. "That makes sense. More sense than bugs, I mean." he replied slowly. He took a deep breath, looking at Jude and smiling at him.
"Hm, yeah." He smiled back, glancing at an exquisite statue, "Even though it's not my type of music, they're unforgettable. They had the whole world at their feet– people loved them. They still do, even though most of 'em are dead." Jude sighed and shrugged, "But I think you'll like them."
Nyx nodded a little bit. "Alright." he replied softly, glancing over at Jude. "What…what is your type of music, then?" he asked.
"Well…I don't–" He smiled lazily, "Rock. I guess. Call it grunge or whatever." Jude laughed, thinking of his John Denver and Tupac records, "But really, I like nearly all types, I just happen to like listening to stuff from the nineties the most."
Nyx nodded slowly. "Oh. Alright." He replied with a faint smile. "You should show me." He looked over at Jude. He desperately wished that Jude could show him the music, and they could sit together and cuddle and listen to it and kiss and forget that Nyx wasn't fully human and Jude…Jude had the addiction issues. But they couldn't.
(Can I just say this is making me wanna scream and cry and slap both of them and you across the face so they can just get together already? (In other words this is really good and you should continue and they MUST get together at some point and it needs to be super sappy and just…Y'know.))
"Yeah. I think I will." Jude smiled shyly, burying his hands deeper in his pockets, almost chuckling at the idea of Nyx jamming out to Nirvana in some cramped garage with some friends and the music way too loud. "You might not like it," He shrugged, "But I think it's real nice."
(hahhhhaa thank you im glad we're goin in the right direction lmaoo)
(^-^)
(hahahaha thanks Wolfie!! ^.^ I'm sure they'll eventually get together lmao. But I'm glad we're doing good)
Nyx shrugged a little bit. "Considering I have no idea what I like…" He trailed off, running his hands through his hair. "We'll have to see, I guess." That was a lie. He knew what he liked, and he was standing right beside him.
"I guess we will." Jude looked away, smiling. "I think we'd better ease into it, wouldn't wanna throw you in the deep end," He chuckled, referencing their past conversation on swimming.
Nyx laughed softly. "Mm. Alright." He replied. He fidgeted for a moment, looking at Jude, then away again. He didn't quite know what to do. He knew what he wanted to do, but he also knew he couldn't possibly do it.
Jude glanced at Nyx, caught in an unknowing game of looking at the other while they looked away. "So," Jude smiled, tilting his head to the side, "What's next? Should we keep exploring?"
