"True. Icebreeze isn't the most social… or he could have took on an apprentice recently. Though I'm pretty sure Oakpaw is older than I am."
"True. Icebreeze isn't the most social… or he could have took on an apprentice recently. Though I'm pretty sure Oakpaw is older than I am."
"Older or not…" Silverbrook muttered, shacking her head, "I remember Icebreeze when he was just an apprentice, he was so nice and sweet… And… And then something happened, I don't know what, but it changed him."
"Really? Do you have any theories? Because I highly doubt he'd tell you."
"Nope, after the accident of 'Who knows what happened", he became very stubborn and would never tell us anything, and I think his mentor helped with his new personality."
"That's sad… I hope he's still able to sympathize with the cats he's healing; I've always found that helpful."
"Nahh, he's too old! He changed when he was young and he will stay like that always."
"Hmm…" Finchpaw thought for a moment. "Do you know how old he is?"
"Old enough! I hope he doesn't die before Oakpaw receives his medicine at name."
"That would be unfortunate… Perhaps he took on an apprentice because he knew he was getting old?"
"Of course! He did not take an apprentice because he wanted company."
Finchpaw laughed softly. "No, I'd think not. He hates kits in general."
"Yes… Well, besides his two nephews, Gorseclaw and Pebblestream, he gets so pathetic when one of those get hurts."
"Really? I didn't know he had nephews. I suppose he has a brother or sister, then?"
"His sisters name is Snowfall, she is a beautiful snow white cat. She has a long fluffy tail and her fur is ever so soft, even I wish I looked like her!"
"She sounds lovely. I'm pretty sure Goldenpaw's going to have kits. She loves them. She said that she wanted four of her own and two adopted, because it breaks her heart to see abandoned kits." (Tru story btw, that's what my sister says lol)
"That's so sweet," Silverbrook purred, "But when your a medicine cat, every cat is like you kit… Well, besides Icebreeze."
"True. A lot of medicine cats in the past have had problems though, haven't they? With wanting a mate or kits?"
"Yes," Silverbrook said softly, "Before I became a medicine cat apprentice I thought I was going to be Jaysongs mate, yes… The only Jaysong."
"He would have been very lucky, I'm sure." Finchpaw smiled gently. "But being a medicine cat was your calling, and you're amazing at it. Do any medicine cats retire and get mates?"
"No, no medicine cat has ever retired. They work to heal their clan till they die."
"Hmm… interesting. I know warriors can retire, so you'd think medicine cats could do the same. Well, at least if they have an apprentice to take over for them."
"No." Silverbrook said again, "We don't retire."
"I know, I was just saying." Finchpaw straightened up the piles of herbs. It was something she liked to do frequently, being something of a neat freak.
Looking out her den, she said, "Good…. Tomorrow we will start your training."
"Training? As in battle training? Or something else?"
She nodded, "Training as in battling."
"Alright." Finchpaw looked out of the den as well, seeing Dustpaw sparring with one of the other apprentices, Rabbitpaw.
"You can practice with them so you can beat me tomorrow… If you want?" She gave her a small smile before padding to the back of the den.
They'll destroy me, but I doubt I really have a choice. Finchpaw sighed and stepped out of the den, walking up to Dustpaw. "Hey, Dustpaw?" He looked up. "Could I practice with you? I start battle training tomorrow with Silverbrook." Dustpaw considered for a moment before nodding and getting into a battle position. Finchpaw did the same, jumping out of the way when her brother pounced at her.
(Uh, how do we proceed?)
