@gracehustle

(Yeah definitely)
The sun dipped lower and lower in the sky until it was tinted with oranges and reds, no sign of a town anywhere around them either. Delia sighed and finally shook her head looking to Jay with a pleading look in her eyes, “Can we stop now? I don’t think we’re going to find a place to stay and my arms are going to give out right after my stomach chews a hole through me.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay nodded. "Yeah, alright." he replied. He lead her off the road and into the woods, heading into a clearing. "We'll camp in here." he put his pack on the ground, setting a sleeping Leo down beside it.

@gracehustle

She smiled slightly and nodded in thanks, following him and dropping her pack next to his before lowering herself into sitting beside everything. "Sounds good. Should we get a fire going?"

@gracehustle

Delia knew that would mean getting back up, but she nodded anyway, struggling up to her feet and glancing over at him, "I'll get some firewood." It would be much easier to have a pack to put the sticks in, but she didn't want to pick up her pack again, and so she wandered off into the woods, picking up sticks and branches on her way so they could have a roaring little fire.

@gracehustle

She picked up stick after stick, carrying them in her hands and coming back when she couldn't carry any more. "Is this enough?" She asked, looking over to where Jay was and seeming impressed with the shelter.

@gracehustle

Delia smiled softly and sat back down, setting up the wood near the shelter but not right next to it before starting to rummage around in her pack for matches or a stray lighter. She just needed something to get the fire going.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay continued to work on the little shelter, humming softly as he did so. He was concentrated nearly completely on his work. Leo was still sleeping on the ground.

@gracehustle

"There, a nice little fire." Delia said, a hint of pride in her voice as she finally found her matches and got a fire started. It took a little while to get going but soon it was crackling nicely, casting things in a yellow glow as the sun continued down and eating through sticks quite fast. "It might need some bigger logs though, and I can't carry any over."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay smiled. "I'll get them." he replied, finishing the shelter. He stood up, walking into the woods to get bigger logs. He came back after a few minutes, larger logs held in his hands. He set them down.

@gracehustle

Her lips turned up into a small smile and she nodded in thanks, massaging her arms and legs while she sat by the fire. It was a pretty sunset, and she was elated to finally be off her crutches for the night. As long as they didn't have to get up or run from anything, if they did, then she wouldn't be happy..at all.

@gracehustle

"No problem." She replied, still trying to rub out her sore muscles so she wouldn't be quite as sore in the morning. Delia watched the fire and flames flicker and burn, ignoring her growling stomach and trying to focus on the positives of the moment. They were still alive, no one seemed to be chasing them, and they had both a fire going and a shelter to sleep under.

@gracehustle

"Ok," She replied, scooting slightly closer to him so they wouldn't have to reach as far, "What is it exactly? I hope it's something good." Almost anything sounded good at this point, but she hoped it was soup or something equally as filling that maybe they could heat up before eating.

@gracehustle

Delia's face lit up slightly and she gently took the can, looking at it and then over at him, "Ready to eat?" She reached over to her bag and pulled out a small knife that she had found a long time ago, stabbing it gently through the aluminum lid of the can to use as a makeshift can opener.

@gracehustle

"Should we wait to heat it up first? Or just eat it right away?" She asked, prying the top off and looking between the fire and him.

@gracehustle

Delia sighed and cast a long look at the fire, shaking her head, "It would taste so much better warmed up, but at the same time I don't want to wait that long." She frowned and laughed, being over dramatic, "The decisions."

@gracehustle

"Whatever, I've waited all day for food, what's a few more minutes." She eventually decided with a shrug, pushing the can as close to the flames as she dared and propping herself back on her arms with a sigh, "And now we wait."

@gracehustle

Delia looked over at him, smiling and studying his face. "Slightly random, but I feel like I owe you a thank you." She said gently, looking away and focusing back on the can.
