"Oh, this isn't even half of it," Jude laughed, locking his car and nodding to the trees ahead, beyond the metal fencing of the roads. The sun was more muted now, still just as warm, but not as bright. The leaves of the trees moved, swaying, inviting them to come. "I'll tell you when we get there." Jude breathed, nodding.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx have a quick smile, and nodded. He followed Jude through the woods, looking around with wide blue eyes. He looked almost like a child on Christmas; he didn't know what to do first, and his eyes were big with wonder and excitement.

Jude lead Nyx through the sheltered forest, not much wildlife around, but everything else a lush and bright shade of green. Moss covered tree roots like carpets, and a million years' worth of pine needles cushioning their steps.
"Oh…look at that." He stopped, staring at a great deer in the sunny distance, its nose searching absentmindedly in the cool air.

(sorry if im slow to respond– theyre doin a bunch of electrical work around)

@ElderGod-Icefire

(don't worry about it)

Nyx went still, eyes going wider as he looked at the deer. "Oh. That's a…that's a deer. Right?" He asked, not taking those blue eyes away from the animal. He took a deep breath, eyes still wide and awed.

"Yeah, a buck," Jude said, almost a whisper creeping forward to the antlered beast in the sunlight, small, winged insects drifting peacefully through the golden light. "Don't scare it." He chuckled, taking a cautious step closer, peeking at it from around a tree.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx blinked, and nodded a little. "Alright." He replied softly. He stuck near Jude, watching the deer carefully. He could hardly believe how beautiful it was.

The deer raised its head and lengthy antlers in a moment of swiftness, though the forest around hadn't moved a bit. It turned, looking at something hidden in the air, freezing in place before sprinting away, the gentle brush of leaves following its leaps. Jude smiled, "C'mon, let's keep going." Stepping over fallen branches and groups of fungi, Jude moved through the forest, already seeing the brighter green light of the fields through the slits of emptiness between the trees. "We're nearly there." He said, pushing hair back out of his face.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx kept following Jude with a wide smile, looking around the woods. "Thank you." He said again. "For bringing me here." He looked around the woods, keeping up with Jude.

"Just wait," Jude said, looking back to Nyx, "Thank me later instead." They were at the edge of the woods know, Jude could already see the light glinting off of the silky tallgrass in the distance. "We're so close."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Okay." Nyx replied slowly. He kept walking beside Jude, eyes staring around them still. He hadn't ever been anywhere like this before. He hadn't. And he loved every bit of it.

Jude sprang into a fast walk through the beginning of the field, feeling the long green strands tickle the tips of his palms whenever he looked back at Nyx, grinning, motioning for him to catch up as he moved. The highway was in the distance now, and the cars were like coloured shapes on a slate gray line. The sun– greeting new clouds, had cast an early golden light on the rolling fields and shadowed the path they left behind them.
"Just over that hill," Jude said, pointing to the closing rise of earth and grass.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx nodded a little. "Alright." he replied. He caught up with Jude, a smile on his face. He looked around again, loving the landscape. It had been…well, never, since he had left those grey walls of the facility. He wasn't counting the parking lot right now.

Finally, they reached the hill, the highest of the rolling plains, overlooking the sights below. They faced east where the sun was slowly drifting to, still daylight, but a new coolness greeted them now. Along this side of the field, the longest grass grew, slender, golden and dancing softly in the wind, faintly rippling in silken tides. Farther to the horizon the train station sat, nearly vacant, save for the occasional passerby's. The rusty train tracks swirled from the far boundaries of the field towards them before tapering off next to the highway, awaiting the crunching and rattling of the heavy trains as they passed. The meadow was quiet now, a dreamlike hue of light whirling through the sunshine as it touched the grass. "Here." Jude nodded, eyes bright and sighing happily. He sat down on the grass, watching as the wind stirred it in quiet gusts.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx's eyes widened. "Wow…" he breathed, staring around in wonder. He sat down beside Jude, biting his lip a little bit as he looked around. His eyes were big, as if he couldn't see enough to take it all in. He plucked a piece of grass, spinning it in his fingers idly as he looked around.

A moment of silence passed between them as Jude took in the golden-green field before them. It had been almost a year since Jude had last come here, but before then, this had been a place of countless heartbreaks, first loves, last loves, daydreaming, and most of all, writing– planning the perfect film while chainsmoking by the tracks.
"I dream here." Jude said, quietly gazing at the clouds passing over the sun.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx blinked, looking over at Jude. He nodded slightly. "I can see why." he replied in a soft voice, eyes flicking around the field again, in awe. "It's beautiful." his blue eyes seemed like they couldn't get enough of the colors and sights around them.

"This is where I wrote the entirety of another screenplay, a short one, but all of it, here." Jude said, waving lazily at the grass, "It's really old, I wrote it when I was, like, eighteen." He laughed, thinking of all the classes he missed because he'd stayed out too long. Thankfully, he still graduated, but staying out here was worth it.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx chuckled a little. "Ah. Still." he replied. He let out a breath, running his hand through his hair. He kept looking around curiously, blue eyes flicking around.

"Hmph." Jude sounded, spotting something moving in the distance, "Is that–" He squinted his eyes, watching as it moved closer, a long black shape following the horizon. "It's the train, let's go! I want to show you something." Jude leaped to his feet, running at an awkward angle, hoping not to fall down, tumbling.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx ran after him, far more graceful than Jude was, since the mechanics in his cybernetic limbs automatically adjusted for the rough terrain. He grinned as he ran, keeping up with the other male quite easily.

The train furthered towards them, the loud rumbling growing louder. He stopped once they reached it, motioning for Jude to cross to the other side, "Go on that side, trust me." Jude laughed, making sure the train wasn't too near.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(kk)

Nyx glanced at the oncoming train. "Alright." he crossed the tracks, waiting on the other side to see what Jude would do. He was still smiling, finding himself rather unable to stop.

Jude checked to see if the train was nearing, "Lay down," He said, smiling wildly, and laying down on the pebbles and patch of weeds growing in between. "By the tracks, but not too close." This was something he'd done in times of stress and anxiety, he'd just lay and listen to the train go by, reciting a line from Inception, the movie that sparked his passion for film. You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you don't know for sure. But it doesn't matter. How can it not matter to you where the train will take you?

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx frowned a little, confused, but did as Jude said to, his eyes flicking around as he waited for the train. He wasn't quite sure what was going on, but he trusted Jude to not be trying to get him killed or something. He folded his hands over his stomach, blue eyes staring up at the sky as he heard the rumble of the oncoming train.

The train neared them, jittering the small pebbles in place. The earth buzzed beneath him, welcoming the train as it raged along the tracks, the sounding chaos screaming past them in wonderous speed, like the world was rushing past them as they laid still, watching the clouds. Jude smiled, looking up at the still sky, it's going to be a beautiful sunset. This was what he called quiet adrenaline, where he was inches from sudden death but still smiling, breathing, still alive.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx let out a breath, eyes going wide as the train went past, his entire body stiffening a little bit. But the rush from it…oh the rush from laying so close to the train, from being so close to it–that felt good. He grinned again, looking around. At the grass, the train, the sky.

The train blundered on, wheezing at some points and screeching at others. All the loud noises passing them by rattled for their attention, calling out in shrill cries. Slowly the rumbling got quieter, and the tail-end of the train sped past them. The ground grew quiet again, and the quiet hum of the train in the distance seemed to call back for them. Jude smiled, sitting up and dusting the sleeves of his jacket.
