Orion, her hair pulled back, tripped on a rose bush as she walked out of the tent she’d pitched the night before. Cursing under her breath, she took out a knife, slashed the plant off of its roots, and kept walking.
(In response to @PuffPoff i was thinking she’s on the run from something and is hiding overnight in some sort of forest)
Kayla sighed, taking out her gun and twirling it around. She sighed as she walked down the empty street, heading for the military camp. Most of the buildings were burnt down by now and there were only a few people, mostly firemen and police, walking around and trying to savage belongings. Kayla shook her head, disappointed with the outcome of the battles.
Getting on with her morning preparations, Orion collapsed her tent, piled her sparse belongings in her backpack, and made sure the ROSEBUSH was out of her way before she trekked back to the main road leading to (wherever Kayla is.)
(I just assumed they were camping at some military base thing)
(Oh ok well I was in a forest but I’m on my way)
Kayla put her gun back in her holster as she walked up to the entrance to the military camp. Her uniform was enough to let her in without raising suspicion.
Orion stopped on the way to the camp, changing into a uniform she’d picked up a few days before.
Kayla headed over to a larger tent where a group of a few soldiers were lined up. Glad I got here before most of them. Soldiers get hungry really quickly. She crossed her arms as she waited in line.
Orion walked confidently into camp, bag slung over one shoulder. She smiled at passing officers and got in line for food, trying to ignore the pains in her feet as a result of the too-tight shoes she’d been forced to wear.
Jack is going through her bag for what little cash she had left and passed it to a man in exchange for a meal voucher. 'Being a solder would have it's perks,' But the though was quickly pushed away by the memory of watching solder shot in to a crowd of civilians, 'no I couldn't fallow orders like that.' She looked around seeing that she was truly out of place the only person with out a uniform.

Kayla's stomach growled at her as she reached the front of the line. She smiled at the young girl serving. "Thank you."
Orion got her food and sat down. It was mush, as most camps’ were.
"What the hell is this?" she asked under her breath pushing what the mush around on her plate wile sitting in the corner. 'all the nutrition you need in the most unappealing form' she laughed to herself and started eating food was food.
Kayla, being the social person she was, decided to go sit by the younger kid with a streak of blue in their hair. "Hey kid." She used the phrase commonly.
“Hi. Who’re you?” Orion replied to the girl who’s sat next to her.
(Is this me?)
(No @PuffPoff )
"Kayla." She responded, poking at the mush before reluctantly taking a bite.
“I’m Orion. Right now my pronouns are ‘she’ and ‘her’, just fyi.”
Kayla nodded. "Cool." She swallowed the mushy food, scrunching up her nose at the taste. "Yuck. It's better than nothing, though."
“Yeah. Sounds crazy, but I’ve had worse.”
She chuckled softly. "Oh, I believe it."
