The girl flinched, closing her eyes and doing nothing. She was used to this by now. What was that someone had told her once? No demonic possession, no social acceptance for you? Yeah, she thought that was right.
"Hah. She's probably like a hollow shell anyways," Maddie said, and pity for the other girl flashed briefly in her eyes, before returning to the glowing yellow colour of her daemon inside.
Gaia audibly growled and she shook the girl. "Answer me!" Flames flickered across her skin and thin cracks of molten lava began appearing on her face. When she breathed a cloud of steam formed in the air. "Who. Are. You? Can you speak? Are you braindead? ANSWER ME!"
"Hi, yes, I'm alive?" the girl offered in a small voice, her eyes still closed.
Maddie, but still being controlled by her daemon looked at Gaia and the other girl, curious. "What are you trying to get out of her anyways? She's just a hollow shell."
She visibly calmed down after the reply. "Don't question me," she hissed at the other demon before stepping back. "You're right. She's nothing."
Gaia spun around and stormed away towards her class, her demonic features gradually disappearing.
Maddie's daemon chuckled to herself for a bit after Gaia left, slightly amused at how fast the other daemon had gotten mad. What are you doing? Maddie asked her daemon. Not out loud, of course. She couldn't. "Merely having some fun, Mads," her daemon responded, and Maddie could feel the small smile forming on her face growing wider.
Gaia sat down in class, ignoring her friends' questions. She was pissed at her demon for taking over without asking even though they had talked about it. She was also a little caught up on coming across someone without a demon. She'd heard of it but hadn't actually met someone. Her thoughts wandered, wondering what it would be like without a demon. Her own demon hissed inside her mind.
"You'd be nothing. A hollow shell just like the girl. You would be a furnace left to grow cold. Magma cooled to rock."
You're right. I was just musing.
The demon seemed satisfied and quietened down so Gaia could turn her attention to the lesson that would begin soon.
The entire time Maddie was walking to class, her eyes flickered rapidly in-between gold and blue, signalling that she was having a fight between her and her daemon over control of the body. Fine… I'll let you win this one. But only because I've been satisfied. I've had my fun. Now it's your turn, her daemon told her in a cold voice, as usual. Her eyes slowly melted back into her normal blue colour, Maddie shuddered a bit, not entirely happy with how her daemon had treated that girl. Just because she's a 'shell,' as you call her, doesn't mean you have to bully her! she internally berated her daemon, though she knew that would have no effect. You think that'll stop me? her daemon laughed, making Maddie shiver with fear. …no, she whispered inside her mind to her daemon, and decided to ignore her for the rest of class. You don't ignore me, you hear me? Mads? Ugh, come on…
(do you have any idea about what the plot might be because I'm not sure where to go with this)
