Joanna looked at him and tried not to jump seeing people she didn't recognize. "Sorry- I was looking for Tempest? He told me to meet him at this address." She said holding the two coffees firmly.
Joanna looked at him and tried not to jump seeing people she didn't recognize. "Sorry- I was looking for Tempest? He told me to meet him at this address." She said holding the two coffees firmly.
"Cool come on back friend." He started down the hall to the recording booth Tempest was working in, in the middle of a session, a song leaking from the booth
(this one to be specific https://www.soundtrap.com/play/NlTpsEObR-62CwyFcnDkWQ/a-storm-approaches/ )
(Cool, I can't check it out now but I will later ;))
Joanna heard his voice and smiled. When she entered the right room she stood next to the person at the sound booth. "He's really good." She mumbled.
"Yep no one else here can play the piano that well." Lexi told her with a slight smirk
Joanna laughed a bit and nodded her head to the tune. "I bet- it's super impressive."
Tempest finally slowed the tempo as the final notes started to fade off into silence.
Joanna set the cups down and did a soft clap as she grinned.
He lifted his head up from the keyboard and looked into the sound booth and waved happily to Jo before starting to head over there
She waved back and picked up the cups. "Here!" She chirped handing him a cup. "It's hot still."
"Thank you Joanna." He said to her "What do you think of the place?"
She nodded glancing around. "I like it- very unique." She hummed sipping her coffee.
"Yeah it's great giving everyone a chance to have a job they love…and nor focus on the species of someone…I mean you humans usually take most good paying jobs." He shrugs, talking like he wasn't one.
She gave him a funny look. "What do you mean- 'us humans'?" She asked clearly confused doing air quotes. She clearly hadn't picked up on all the hints this place wasn't human.
"Oh I guess Felix wasn't a big enough hint…well I have the people working here that society doesn't like because they're not normal…like anthros, vampires, demons, angels….and I think Gavin's a werewolf." I chuckled a bit.
"Wait- you really mean not human. Am I that dense?" She asked herself. "What about you? What makes you special?"
Tempest tilted his head a bit and half his face appeared to shift to a blue and white furred canine's face then right back to human "Lucky to pass off as human most times…"
She jumped a bit at this but let a smile break through. "That's like really cool!"
He blinked a couple of times "thanks, that's not usually the response I get." Tempest chuckled a bit at her positive response
"What do you usually get?" She asked a soft smile on her lips.
"Usually the typical 'you're not natural you hellspawn, you're going to get killed in the street…people just don't like things like me cause I think they're scared of all us here." He motions to Felix and Lexi as an example.
"which is downright silly I think." Felix purred
"I don't" Lexi grinned, fangs visible in her mouth
Joanna gave a half smile. "They're dumb. Not everything is going to kill you because it's different. I'm different and I haven't killed anyone." She shrugged taking a sip of coffee. "Yet…" She mumbled.
"Glad to hear…." Tempest seemed to have a different look in his eye when he looked at Jo, for she was the first human to know about his non-human qualities and not downright hate the guy, heck even Rose had been a hybrid like he was…but Jo…was full human as far as he knew and she definitely was breaking the stereotype his parents had fed him long ago.
She tossed her cup in the trash can and looked at Tempest. "Oh- and your piano is amazing. Where the heck did you learn like that?" She asked crossing her arms with a small smile.
"Well…Rose." He said, but wasn't sad when saying her name this time. He was proud. He was proud that he could help just a little of her live on. "She was a great teacher."
Jo nodded, not wanting to ask any more questions. She didn't want to push at something that could just be left alone. "She sounds lovely. Really." She hummed giving him a soft smile.
Tempest patted the spot next to him on the bench like seat he was sitting on "Ever played before?"
She shook her head. "Not really, I never had a piano growing up." She replied sliding onto the spot next to him.
"Well the first thing to learn is where to place your hands." He explained gently taking hers and placing them in the proper place along the keys "It's not that challenging once ya get into it. His body was starting to fully shift because of the emotional positivity he was getting off of teaching Joanna
She turned a slight shade of pink when he took her hands, but didn't say anything. She nodded listening to his every word with much focus. "Y-yeah ok…" She hummed a bit.
Tempest started to explain some simple scales to her, showing her. The other two in the room left them for some private lessons. Soon Tempest was in his full antro form, his tail wagged behind him as he had her attempt the simple scales, encouraging her whenever she hit a wrong key, just as Rose had done with him.
