Eclipse sighed, "But I always mess up somehow…" he said softly. "Always… that's why I've never been allowed out on the battfield…"
Nik looked at him. "Eclipse. You didn't mess up, okay? You were trying to help us escape. That's not something to be angry at yourself with. Please stop beating yourself up over this."
Eclipse took a deep breath, rolling onto his side, "I know… I just… I just wish it had worked…" he said softly, feeling the pain of being trapped more than before.
"Me too." Nik replied softly. He looked at Eclipse with soft, careful eyes. "But it didn't. So we need to figure out what to do now."
Eclipse nodded, "Do you have any more ideas?" he asked softly, already feeling more trapped by the second.
Nik shook his head. "Worst comes to worst, I go to sleep and the monster breaks me out, and you run like hell." he replied, looking at Eclipse.
Eclipse sighed, "Yeah, minus the fact that I'm currently a tied up worm." he said softly, "Though that could work…."
Nik shrugged slightly. "That's true." he replied softly. "Although…the monster's priority is going to be attacking and…and eating everyone it can get to. So. Don't go too far because I'll need help afterwards."
"I'd need you to cut the ropes on me first, somehow…" said Eclipse softly, "Otherwise I'd get caught in the fray… after that, I could probably manage to stay away then come back for you…"
"Yeah." Nik nodded. He swallowed as he imagined what would happen. "I'll be…rather violently sick when the monster is done. And…I'll be throwing up blood and body parts." he clenched his jaw for a moment.
Eclipse sighed, "I kinda wish I could stop it somehow…" he said softly, pressing close to him in the best semblance of a hug that he could manage.
Nik leaned against him. "It's okay. it's…It's not your fault." he mumbled, closing his eyes for a moment. "Just…keep in mind that I…won't be in any condition to travel for a while afterwards."
"I can handle that part… just as long as we're not on the run.." he said softly, nudging him to keep him awake. "But our first problem is getting me loose… Otherwise we're both dead…"
(Should we have dawn come soon?)
Nik sighed, opening his eyes. "Yeah, I know…" he said softly. He let out a breath. "I can try to bite your ropes." he suggested, looking at Eclipse.
(sure)
Eclipse nodded, "Possibly a good idea…" he said softly, "Are you sure you're up to it?"he watched the other's expression carefully.
Nik nodded a little. "Yeah. Roll over so I can get to them." he replied, eyes tracing the ropes across Eclipse's body.
Eclipse nodded, rolling so he could reach the ones by his hands. "Work quickly, I think they'll come back for us soon…"
Nik nodded, and got to work. He made a face. The rope tasted disgusting. But he ignored that as he chewed at it, trying to break it.
Eclipse occasionally tried to tug out of the ropes as the other worked, but he wasn't able to pull free. This was mostly because not half an hour later, as predawn grew, he heard footsteps. Tapping Nik's cheek he gestured for the other to pull away, hoping he'd do so in time.
Nik's eyes widened slightly, and he squirmed away from Eclipse, rolling so his back was to the other male. He looked around, and his eyes landed on the approaching figure.
Eclipse growled softly on instinct as the man approached, his eyes following his shadow, noting that it was the same guy from earlier.
"Boss want's to see you" he said, grabbing both of them by the collars of their shirts.
Nik inhaled, flinching a little bit. "We can walk." he snapped. "Now put me down." his voice was firm, and angry. He sounded like the prince he was.
Eclipse growled, "I don't appreciate being carried." he said, his tone as defiant as possible.
The man dropped both of them. "Then get up and walk." he said flatly.
Nik grunted softly, and wobbled as he forced himself to his feet. His already pale face went even paler as he put weight on the injured leg.
Eclipse rolled to his feet, his eyes flicking to Nik with concern, and he moved to the other's side before being shoved back, then pulled towards camp, Nik pulled with them.
Nik took a deep breath. He stumbled and limped heavily as they walked, leaning against Eclipse a little. He swallowed. He followed the enemy man.
Eclipse did his best to support the other while being unable to move his arms, following the man into camp, where the smell of breakfast hit him, sparking low growling in his stomach, making him realize that he hadn't eaten since the day before yesterday.
Nik's own stomach growled when he smelled the food, the monster stirring inside him again, though weaker with the rising sun. The man leading them smirked. "If you wanted food, then you should have thought of that before trying to escape." he hissed.
Eclipse simply gave another growl of defiance, glaring at him as they were led to a command tent. Eclipse personally found himself distracted by the thought of food, as well as the thought of shifting to run free in the woods, and maybe hunt his own food for once. Man that notion was tempting.
They were led into the tent, and then the man left again. Nik half sat, half collapsed, face white and pale. He waited for someone else to come in, taking deep breaths. He was exhausted, bloody, and in pain. Not a great combination.
