Finn put his laptop away after a while and just watched the Tv. his legs up on the couch next to Jay.
Jay caught his lower lip between his teeth as he worked, pencil scratching acros the paper.
Finn watched the show trying not to keep looking at Jay. He relaxed into the couch closing his eyes.
Jay finished the drawing, putting some finishing touches on the sketch. The faint shadow of Finn's cheekbones, the little dip beneath his lips.
Finn took a light nap. a soft smile on his lips and his arm under his head acting as a pillow.
Jay finished the drawing, and compared it to Finn. He bit his lip a little.
Finn slowly woke up. Stretching as he sat up.
Jay looked away quickly, eyes flashing to the TV screen.
Finn looked over at Jay. Hey, you done with your mysterious drawing?" He asked smirking sleepily.
Jay nodded a little. "Yeah." he replied softly.
"Can I see?" He leaned over slightly but didn't look at the sketchbook. If Jay didnt want him to see he won't push.
Jay blushed, but held out the sketchbook. He didn't meet Finn's eyes. The sketch was just simply of Finn from the side profile.
Finn blinked at the drawing. "It's amazing!" Finn said smile widening as he looked at the photo. "Definitely highlights my awesome features." He chuckles.
Jay blushed harder, looking down at the floor. "Thanks." he mumbled, biting his lower lip to hide a small smile.
Finn just smiled wider looking away from the journal and at Jay's adorable blush. "You're really good," finn said amazed.
Jay glanced up at Finn, then away again. "Thank you." he said again, fidgeting a little.
Finn nodded not looking away from Jay for a few minutes. He ended up turning away and looking at the tv trying to make things less awkward.
Jay took the sketchbook back after a moment, closing it and putting it in his backpack again. He was still blushing.
Finn shifted slightly in his seat. He was sitting closer to JAy. "I'd love to see more of your drawings one day," Finn said smiling.
Jay looked up, biting his lip again. "I…" He shrugged. "They aren't that important." His father had drilled that into him enough. His art could never amount to anything. Nobody could make any money from art. It wasn't even any good anyways. Whoever gave him the idea he could succeed with it?
"If you like them that means they are important," Finn said looking back at him.
Jay blinked, and shrugged again, looking down at his hands. "I can't turn it into a career. Art doesn't make money." He replied.
"Who says you can't? I've seen artists make money off of their stuff all the time. You can be a freelancer or there are a lot of other careers that art is useful in," Finn said tilting his head slightly in concern. He didn't like the way Jay was talking bad about something he likes to do.
"Yeah, but those are professionals. I'm just…some kid that likes to draw." Jay replied, still not looking up. His father's words echoed in his head. "Just give up this stupid dream. It won't do you any good." He bit his lip.
“How do you think those professionals started off?” He asked still holding his soft smile.
(gtg to bed soon)
He shrugged again, still looking at his hands, not able to meet Finn's eyes.
(Ok gn)
“Do you take art class?” He asked realizing he doesn’t really know much about Jay.
"Yeah." Jay replied, glancing up at him, then away again.
"That's nice. What are you thinking about doing after graduation?" He asked turning the volume on the tv down.
Jay looked away, and shrugged. "I don't know. Dad won't let me get a job, so I…don't have any money to move out or pay for college with. I don't even have a car." Or a driver's license. He shrugged again.
