Cat's smile widened trying to cover up her jealousy. "That's great! You should probably head back before they send a search party," she half-heartedly jokes.

“Yeah, you’re right, I should,” Aurelie agreed, trying not to let her relief show. As much as she enjoyed getting to know these girls, it only served to make her more frustrated about her upcoming birthday and that Cat was clearly showing Aurelie that she didn’t like her as anything more than maybe a friend.
"I'll walk you back," Cat said walking over to Valentina first. "Bye Val It was nice seeing you again."
"It was nice seeing you too Gatti and meeting you, Aurelie. Hope to see you both again soon," Valentina said leaning on the counter.
“Likewise,” Aurelie responded with a smile, loosening up her perfect posture for just a moment and waving.
Val and cat wave as Cat walks out of the shop with Aurelie. “You know I’ve been thinking. The security in the castle is very bad,” she half jokes.
“They’ve needed to fix it for years,” Aurelie agreed with a smirk. “Lots of little holes in their system. Eli complains about it all the time.”
Cat nodded. “Yeah it was really to easy for me to sneak in and out,” She admits smirking slightly.
Aurelie shrugged. “That’s unsurprising. I’ve snuck in and out dozens of times myself,” she remarked. Despite her friendly attitude, she was still quite angry at Cat. One doesn’t just forgive and forget that easily.
Cat could tell that her strut was fake but she acted like she couldn’t. She didn’t need Aurelie to forgive her. Not if she can get someone else to kiss her and fix everything. Then Cat can skip town like she planned too all along without thinking about the princess.
"Well, this is my stop," Aurelie replied, relieved to finally be done with this. "Don't think I haven't forgotten how you treated me, by the way. Goodbye, Caterina." She turned and walked off without letting the other girl respond.
Cat stayed quiet as she watched her walk off. Not wanting to leave until she knew she was safe.
Aurelie got inside the castle, once again anxious. It was almost the end of the day, and then it was only two meager days until she fell asleep for good, possibly. The thought terrified her.
Cat wondered back into town. She wondered if Valentina would actually work. She could try again tomorrow. If Aurelie would even come with her. She sat on the roof Aurelie found her on days ago.
Aurelie knew that standing around being anxious wouldn't help anything, so she had a quick dinner and went to sleep. Well, tried to sleep. It took her several hours for her anxiety to calm enough for her to drift off into sleep.
Cat didn’t sleep much. She spent the majority of the night trying to come up with a plan. In the morning she walked back to the castle. She didn’t really know what she was going to do but she wanted to see Aurelie.
Aurelie was putting her hair into a plait, humming to herself. She didn’t like maids doing everything for her, and she was rebelliously wearing boots instead of satin slippers or heels like usual. It wouldn’t matter in a few days anyway.
Cat wondered back to the castle. She was exhausted staying up all night trying to figure out what she should do. That could be why when a guard walked towards here she didn't notice.
Aurelie finished with her hair and decided to walk around the castle. Maybe she and Eli could come up with some last ditch plan. Anything would be better than just giving in and accepting her fate, right? Cat was convincing her that maybe she shouldn’t just let herself fall asleep forever.
"Hey I'm the new maid and I'm not really sure where I'm supposed to go," Cat said smiling softly and attempting to win the guard over. She was so tired that she didn't even recognize the guard as Eli.
Eli smirked. “How much sleep did you get? We’ve met, remember? You’re Aurelie’s ex,” he stated, narrowing his eyes and crossing his arms. “What do you want?”
Cat's smile faded realizing her mistake. "I came to talk to Aurelie. Wanted to see if she wanted to come into town again," She admits not saying that she doesn't actually have any plan.
“You went into town with her yesterday?” Eli asked, eyes widening. Aurelie hadn’t told him about that, but then again they hadn’t been able to talk yesterday. “So you two like each other again or what?”
She shook her head slightly too quickly. "No I was trying to help her meet more girls," Cat tried to explain while also avoiding details. He may have been Aurelie's friend but Cat didn't trust the guard.
Eli raised an eyebrow. “That is…good to know, I suppose,” he responded. “Let’s go find her then. But if she doesn’t want to go, you are to leave, understand?”
"Yeah I know," She said looking around them nodding.
Eli shot her one last look before leading Cat to the spot he knew Aurelie liked to roam the most: the gardens. Sure enough, she was there.
“Aurelie, you have a visitor,” Eli announced, and Aurelie turned, a frown on her face.
"Hey," She said waving slightly. She bit her lip waiting for Aurelie's reaction. wondering if she'd pretend to not hate her or openly despise her.
“I thought we agreed not to speak to each other again?” Aurelie asked with a sigh, looking tired. She had only two days left counting today, and now this again.
“I remember saying that multiple times but then talking to you the very next day. Plus I don’t think I made that promise yesterday,” Cat said trying to hold a smile.
Aurelie rolled her eyes. “Don’t tell me this is about meeting more girls. It’s not going to change anything.”
