Aurelie stood stock still, her head held high as she straightened a bit. Princesses didn’t get nervous or shy, so she smoothed her face over and kept her posture impeccable, despite her anxiety at modeling the outfit.
She carefully pinned the sleeve so it matched the other. She smiled at Aurelie. "You look so serious," she said smirking slightly.
“Oh yes? Well then how should I look?” she asked, a tad teasingly with a small smirk.
Valentina laughed slightly at that. “More loose and happy. You arnt at some royal dinner princess you can relax,” she said lightly patting her on the shoulder as she spoke. Still making adjustments to the outfit.
Aurelie smiled at her comment, loosening her posture only slightly. “I’m used to being scrutinized so it feels weird not to stand like that,” she admitted, blushing a tad. Although her blush made her think of Cat, who she instantly tried to push out of her mind. She laughed lightly as well.
“Well a little relaxed posture suits you,” she says smiling. “Always staying uptight and on edge drives others away. I tell Cat the same thing. She used to never relax even around me. How do you know Gatti anyway?”
Even around me. What did that mean? It took Aurelie a moment to process what Valentina had asked her. Oh shit.
“Well, it’s a long story…” she hedged, hoping that Valentina wouldn’t pry and racking her brain for what to say when she inevitably did.
“Hmm well I’m not sure about you but I have time,” Valentina pushed slightly. Still fussing with the pitiful trying to make it perfect. It wasn’t everyday that she got a model.
“Okay, well, she got a job as a maid at the castle for a little bit, but it wasn’t her thing, you know Cat,” she explained, trying to sound convincing. Thank goodness she was mostly quick on the spot.
Valentina thought for a moment. “Hmm no it doesn’t. She has been talking about try to get a…normal job though. Lately she’s been jumping from job to job. I really think it’s been stressing her out. Working as a maid for awhile might help,” Valentina said bending the truth slightly not sure what Aurelie knows.
Aurelie bought it, relieved that the other girl seemed to think her revised version of events made sense. Thankfully her acting was decent, so the relief didn’t show. “She ended up quitting though,” Aurelie added.
“Sounds like Cat. Gatti always had commitment issues,” she half jokes stepping away slight. “There perfect!” She looked over her work.
Aurelie smiled. “Sweet!” she cheered, becoming a bit enthusiastic herself. After a moment of hesitation, she added, “How long have you and Cat known each other?”
“A few years now. I think I met her when we were 13,” Valentina explained. “Our families where close.” She half lied again.
“Cool! How did you two meet?” Aurelie asked, glancing at Valentina.
“Oh well my parents were good friends with her parents since we were all from the same town in Italy. Me and her where only toddlers when her parents…passed so we lost touch for a while. Her brother ended up reconnecting with my parents. Cat stayed with us for a few years and we grew really close,” Valentina admits trying not to go into details.
“Oh, I didn’t know that you two had been friends for so long,” Aurelie responded, beginning to be suspicious that friends weren’t exactly what they had been. It shouldn’t have made her as upset as it did, but she told herself it was because Valentina was trying to cover it up and not because she cared.
“Yeah we haven’t talked in awhile though. Like I said before she just can’t commit or even stay in one place,” Valentina explained sitting down.
“Yeah, that makes sense,” Aurelie agreed. “I’m going to go put my dress back on,” she added, a bit eager to be in her own clothes again despite the comfort of the clothes that she was wearing. She also knew her father would be angry if she somehow forgot her dress here, well, if he found out.
Valentina nodded. “Once I start putting this outfit on the market I’ll let you know,” she said smiling.
“Okay, I’d like that,” Aurelie agreed before stepping back around behind the curtain and changing back into her dress.
"It should be ready in a few weeks. I'll let Cat know so she can tell you," Valentina said sitting back down.
Aurelie nodded as she walked back out in her dress, wondering if she and Cat would even speak to each other again after this, though there was no reason for Valentina to know that. "That'd be nice of you," she said aloud.
Valentina nodded "You should get going. Cat's probably bored out her mind out there," She said a knowing smile on her face.
Aurelie giggled. "You're probably right," she agreed. "It was nice meeting you."
“It was nice meeting you as well,” Valentina said opening the door that lead back to the main shop. Cat was on the other side of the shop looking through some of the clothes.
Aurelie smiled at her and walked over to Cat. “Hey,” she said softly, alerting the other girl of presence.
Valentina moved to behind the register giving the other girls space. Cat turned to Aurelie smiling. "Hey. Sooo did I do good?" She asked. She seemed to be in a better mood than earlier.
“She’s wonderful,” Aurelie replied, smiling, but not admitting the fact that she wasn’t into Valentina. Similar to her interaction with Grace, Aurelie enjoyed Valentina’s company, but not in a romantic way.
