  Curtis

Curtis was a bit surprised, but he was fine– pleased, even– with this plan. (Although the possibility of dying still remained a concern.)

  Eden

"Don't," Eden said, although it was more pleading– concerned, it seemed– than commanding. "You'll regret it. Please."

  Kaz

"Then quit dancing around the question and tell me what I am," he said fiercely, almost snarling at her. "I appreciate your concern for my mental health but that is no reason to not tell me."

@Moriarty

  Eden

"You… are a human," Eden said slowly, carefully and clearly speaking each word. "But you were… created." She cleared her throat. "The reason you withstand so much is because you were made to. Hear me out. Using the genes of many impressive individuals, some scientists managed to create a man with incredible skill and unnatural qualities such as being practically indestructible. That man is you, Kaz."

  Curtis

"The heck–"

Deleted user

  Kaz

His face portrayed no emotions, but inside his brain was causing a riot.
Does that even count as human? it asked.
Shut up, he responded to it. This isn't how a brain should work. You don't get to talk.
She looks scared of you, it pressed on. Probably because you aren't a real person.
Shut. Up.
Curtis looks ready to pee his pants. It didn't even sound like his own voice anymore. Your only friend is n-

"Shut up!" Kaz yelled out loud, clutching the side of his head. "Why is there a voice in my freaking head?"

(I'm thinking it was just a communicator chip put into his head)

@Moriarty

((Whoever is on the other end is great then, even if they're not a good person per se, because all I can think of are the conversations he's had with his mind. XD))

  Eden

"Calm down," Eden said, holding her composure well. She grabbed his wrists gently but firmly and tried to pull them away from his head. "There's a chip in your brain. It was placed there so that you could be tracked and so that information and orders could be given to you via the chip."

  Curtis

Curtis looked… well, pretty freaked out to say the least. None of that can be true. But, wait– what else explains the building and rocket not killing him? I don't understand! What do I even believe?!
"I don't– That doesn't seem real," was all he could say, his eyes wide with shock and confusion.

  Kaz

"Can you tell them to shut up?" he asked, allowing his hands to be pulled away from his head. "Whoever it is is beyond annoying."
Am not, the voice said.

@Moriarty

  Eden

"I can ask someone to deactivate it once we're inside," Eden responded. "I personally can neither communicate with them or stop the communications."

  Curtis

Curtis was pretty sure there was a new record for the number of weird things to happen to someone in a single day.

Deleted user

  Kaz

Kaz pulled his hands away from her and scratched the top of his head, slightly embarrassed about his outburst.
"Can we just…go inside now?" he asked softly, a slight blush on his face

@Moriarty

  Eden

Eden almost smirked, but she realized now was neither the place nor the time for that. She nodded, pushing past him to get to the door, which she opened. They were parked inside of a large garage-looking room (which was within the laboratory complex itself). A loud echo reverberated off of the walls as her boots hit the hard floor. It was much cooler in this room than it had been outside, a result of the concrete structure. "Technically, we're already inside," she said.
The driver and a few other men clambered out of the front of the vehicle, but they didn't say anything. (They hadn't witnessed or heard any of the conversation during the ride, either).

  Curtis

Curtis glanced at Kaz, waiting for him to go first.

Deleted user

  Kaz

Kaz hopped out of the vehicle right after her, glancing over at the soldiers as they climbed out as well.

"And they know who I am?" he asked her in a low voice.

@Moriarty

  Eden

She nodded. "Kind of. Not really personally, but they know of you. You were–are– kind of a big deal, because of your… abilities. "

Deleted user

  Kaz

"Do they have weapons that can stop me?" he asked. This was crucial. If she said yes, he would turn around and never come back, 'cause then they'd be able to actually force him to stay.

@Moriarty

  Eden

"No," Eden responded. "I didn't come to fight you. I came to bring you back and restore your memories." She paused. "You work with us. We're not your enemies."

  Curtis

Curtis wasn't so sure he believed that. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes but failed to keep from glaring at the woman.

Deleted user

  Kaz

"Why would you even need someone like me if you had such a large armed force?" he asked, raising an eyebrow over at Curtis once again. "Seems like you could handle anything that comes your way with something that big."

@Moriarty

  Eden

"You're a one-man team. You can do one man missions in places armies can't go." Eden sighed. "Do you want your memories back? We don't have all day. Plus, we have to get your injury checked."

Deleted user

  Kaz

Kaz still didn't move forward, turning his green eyes to Eden. Do I really?
"How many memories will I have like that?" he asked, referring to the scene back in the car.

@Moriarty

  Eden

"Probably a few more than you'd like to," she admitted. "But you'll never know whether or not I've told you the truth about your past until you get your memories back. Think about it. You walk away, you'll always wonder about all of the things that happened before you lost your memory." Eden hesitated. "And I don't think they'll give you the option to come back later and get your memories. It's now or never."

Deleted user

  Kaz

Kaz's jaw locked as he contemplated the choices he had. Number One: Walk away and not risk the danger of being killed. It was his safest option, obviously, but she had a point. The fact that he didn't know who he was annoyed him severely. And he wouldn't be able to get the jerkwad behind the communication chip out of his head. Number Two: Trust the woman. He was finding that hard, especially with the angry looks Curtis was giving her.

"So…..if I go with you, Curtis comes too, right?" he asked slowly

@Moriarty

  Eden

Eden sighed. The last thing she wanted was some weird random dude snooping into the labs business and endangering themself– but she knew Kaz would leave if they didn't bring Curtis.
"Yes. I agreed we'd take him, too," she responded reluctantly, glancing at Curtis, only to meet his ever present glare. "You're going to have to make him stop glaring at me though. It's kinda… distracting. And odd."

  Curtis

"I'm not stopping anything until you prove you're on our side," Curtis responded blankly.

Deleted user

  Kaz

Kaz sighed, rubbing the top of his head as he turned to Curtis.

"She charged out there with the fighting force when she could've easily let them fight by themselves. That'll have to do, for now," Kaz said. "Besides, I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you, man."

@Moriarty

  Curtis

Curtis glanced up at Kaz, then he let out a soft sigh. How was he supposed to argue with that? Besides, Kaz was trustworthy, right? If Kaz said they could trust her, it had to be true.
"Well…" Curtis hesitated. If Kaz goes, I go to. The man is doing everything he can for me. He's my best friend. "Okay." He looked at Eden, then back at Kaz.

Deleted user

  Kaz

Kaz gave him a grateful nod, running his hand over the bruise on his face for a moment before turning back to Eden.
"We're ready to go when you are," he said, giving her a nod.

(From a-hole to a natural leader. Love this)

@Moriarty

((Talk about a character arch. This is honestly amazing.))

  Eden

"Good, then follow me." Eden spun around, heading towards a door on the far side of the garage. She walked briskly, although internally, hesitation was starting to rise up. She had never thought she could've cared so much about the outcome, but here she was, caring. She knew how these scientists were– she was one of them, albeit not as ruthless. Nonetheless, she hid her emotions. It would be fine. She knew it would be fine.
At least, she liked to think that she knew.

Deleted user

  Kaz

"How many scientists are there?" he asked as the walked, glancing back every once and a while to make sure Curtis was still with them.

@Moriarty

((Hey man. I'm sorry, I died, but I'm not dead now. Do you want to revive this, or did you give up on me? No hard feelings if you did! It was my fault I went ghost.

@Moriarty

  Eden

"About twenty," Eden responded absently, still distracted by her own thoughts. "Maybe thirty, but no more." She glanced at Kaz, trying to sum him up. It was crazy, how much he'd changed. But he hadn't really changed, had he? It was just the memory loss. Deep inside, wasn't he still the crazy jerk he'd always been? Wasn't he?

  Curtis

Curtis was keeping up with them, for more reasons than one. He didn't wanna get separated from them, sure; he didn't trust Eden as far as he could pick her up and throw her. On top of that, he wanted to eavesdrop. The whole situation seemed screwy to him, and he wasn't about to pretend like he wasn't suspicious. But, he did trust Kaz, despite the fact that they'd just met that day– so he tried not to be too paranoid.
But he couldn't help himself.
"That's a lot of scientists," he muttered.
