She nodded, biting her lip. “Yeah…” she agreed. “But this is our lives now, so we might as well stop wishing things were different and focus on not dying.” She said it as much to herself as to him.
She nodded, biting her lip. “Yeah…” she agreed. “But this is our lives now, so we might as well stop wishing things were different and focus on not dying.” She said it as much to herself as to him.
Logan sighed. "I know." he replied, shaking his head again. "I just wish that…you know, things could be different." he said.
Allie’s lips quirked into a sad smile. “Me too,” she whispered, before running a hand through her hair.
Logan sighed softly. "Yeah." He kept walking, shaking his head.
“So how long do you think we need to walk?” Allie asked, glancing at him again.
Logan shrugged. "I don't know." He replied, glancing at her. "However long it takes to find a good place to camp tonight?"
“Okay,” Allie agreed, still walking. She looked around at the forest as it went by.
Logan sighed as they walked. "So…what should we talk about? If anything?" He asked, glancing at her.
Allie shrugged. “I dunno, maybe random memories? Or we could come up with a plan for if anyone comes and sees us or something? Or play twenty questions again?”
"Alright. Whatever you think works best." Logan replied with a shrug, pushing some underbrush out of the way as he walked.
Allie nodded. "Okay, um…We need some kind of code word for if we see something out of the ordinary? That way if someone is trying to sneak up on us or something they won't know that we spotted them."
Logan nodded. "Hmm. What are you thinking of? It needs to be inconspicuous, and easy to slip into conversation." He frowned thoughtfully.
"Well, we could use foliage," Allie replied with a smirk. "It's from a TV show, and that wouldn't be super conspicuous, I don't think."
Logan nodded, then chuckled softly. "Hm. Alright, that works." he replied, glancing at her again. "Sure."
Allie smiled. "Great. Anything else we should have a code word or strategy for?"
Logan thought for a long moment. "Well…I don't know." he replied with a shrug. "Do you think there is?"
"What if someone is gone for a long period of time? Does the other person look for them or just assume they've been either killed or taken? And how long is long enough to decide that?" Allie mused grimly, her moment of humor gone.
"Oh." he frowned a little bit, thinking. "If it's me…assume I'm dead or taken, okay? Because I'll always come back when I can." he gave her a tiny smile.
She nodded. "So how long should I wait before I decide you're gone?" she asked.
He sighed, thinking. "Hm. I don't know. Just…use your good judgement." he replied, looking at her. "And what about you?" he asked.
"Same goes for me, I suppose," Allie replied. "I don't plan on leaving a bunch."
Logan nodded. "Alright." he reached over and put a hand on her shoulder for a moment, then looked away, dropping his hand.
Allie blushed, wondering what the point of that gesture had been. “Is that it? Anything else that we should establish?”
Stupid! What was that even for?? He thought. He cleared his throat softly. "I…think that's it, yeah." he replied, looking around the woods as they walked.
She nodded. “Okay. It’s good that we’ve got that established, then.” She glanced at him again, her thoughts going back to their kiss again. Stupid! You’re focusing on not dying, remember?!
Logan nodded, taking in a deep breath and letting it out. "Yeah. If there's anything else we need to establish, just let me know." he replied, giving her a small smile as they walked.
Allie nodded. “Let’s talk about something else now, something that’s more…I dunno, light?” she suggested.
Logan nodded. "Sure. Like what?" he replied with another small smile.
“What kind of TV shows did you watch?” she asked, smiling back.
"Uh…" He thought. "I don't know. Whatever was on TV, I guess." He let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head. "What about you?"
