Henry and Lysander caught the reflex and Lysander held her closer while Henry nodded at being right. ”It’s alright, Bets. It's normal for us. Over time it'll get easier to handle.” Henry promised softly.
”In the meantime, we have a solution until we teach you how to hunt.” Lysander said with a slightly dark look in his eyes.
Out of instinct she struggled against Lysander she felt trapped like she was being held captive
Lysander immediately let her go as soon as she pushed away. ”Betty, what’s wrong?” he asked, his eyes filled with nothing but concern now.
”I told you she wouldn't go for this.” Henry groaned, running a hand through his hair.
She looked at them both " I know what your thinking and No I won't do you should know me better than that if I have to die I will" she said
Lysander ignored Henry’s pointed ”I told you so” look. ”Betty, you won't die if you don't feed but you will get weak. I don't just mean physically, though that does happen. Your head will feel like it's going to split open and the next thing you know; you blink and you're covered in someone's blood.” Lysander explained. ”Remember, I put off feeding until I killed my mother and father.”
" then let's love the problem wood kills vampires right" she asked and picked up a sharp piece of wood off her desk and held it firmly so the boys couldn't take it.
”Only a certain type of wood, Betty.” Lysander pointed out. ”And you won't find that kind anywhere near us. And silver doesn't hurt us either. That has a similar effect on us like gold on a dragon.”
”Look, let's not go crazy here, Bets.” Henry stood and looked at her. ”I knew you wouldn't do this. You're not ready but you do need to drink. Which is why I snuck into the hospital’s blood supply and snagged you this.” he said pulling out an IV bag full of blood for her. ”It’ll taste a bit funny but it’ll help you. You’ll still have to bite it to get used to your fangs but it will help.”
She threw the wood down and took the bag sitting by henry. She couldn't believe that the person she loved thought so lowly of her that she would harm another person.
Henry gave Betty a small encouraging smile as she took the bag. ”Go ahead, drink it. You’ll feel better after.” he said gently.
Lysander shifted nervously, wondering why Betty seemed so angry at him. The first time he fed was on a random person Charles brought to him. He had barely been able to keep from draining the man but despite the feeling that it gave him, he felt sick to his stomach not seconds later.
Betty's fangs showed. Her eyes turned pitch black and black veins were under her eyes. She carefully bit into the bag and drained the bag of every last drop of blood and when she was done she just had some blood on the corner of her mouth.
Henry chuckled, gently wiping the blood off her lip with his thumb. ”See? I told you you’d feel better.” he smiled at her and licked the drop off his thumb like it was chocolate. ”Don’t be mad at him, Bets. He's still angry at you getting hurt. If it weren't for you being here, I doubt he would talk to me.” he whispered very softly so only she would hear.
She sighed. " I know " she whispered back equally as soft her eyes going normal but her fangs still there.
Henry nodded giving a smaller smile. ”You seem to have adjusted to your sharper hearing well and quite quickly.” he observed happily at a normal volume.
Lysander blinked at that since he didn't hear anything before that and looked at the two of them but didn't say anything yet.
She nodded closing her eyes then opening it
”I bet you can already see better too.” Henry smirked, confidently.
”You should take some time to let yourself get used to your new senses.” Lysander pointed out gently.
Betty layed her head on Henry's shoulder with a sigh.
Henry gently wrapped his arms around her in a hug. ”It’s ok, Bets. We’re both here to help you. If it gets overwhelming just let us know.”
Lysander looked back at the floor, unsure if he was upset with himself for making Betty want to get away from him or if he was a little angry at Henry for being the comfort she needed right now.
She sighed . She could hear Tyler's uneven breathing her beating heart, could smell her blood .
Henry wasn't going to dodge the topic, Lysander was already mad at him anyway. ”You know who’s here, don't you Bets?” he asked, sure of her answer.
Sh sighed once more " I can smell her blood" she said. Resting her face in the crook of his neck.
Lysander flinched at the reminder of Tyler. ”It was the only way we could be sure she wouldn't hurt you.” he murmured weakly at the pathetic excuse.
”We’ve been taking care of her the whole time.” Henry reassured. ”We haven't hurt her or anything.”
"id have both your heads if you did… After what she's been through no one should have to go through that" she said.
”What she’s been through?” Lysander asked in surprise. ”Betty, she tried to kill you.” He reminded a little angrily.
”Ly, calm down.” Henry warned. ”You told me that Tyler said her parents were killed. I still have a hard time believing it was because of Betty but you and I both know what it feels like to want revenge.”
" I killed her father after she killed my brother I think it was perfectly fair she wants to kill me game on I will fight her if I have to " she said standing up going to the window
Lysander tried not to smile at the mention of the deaths but he was relieved to hear that Betty did have a reason for her actions. ”It sounds like things are already fair between you two.” he commented. ”You both already lost someone. There's no need for more death between you.”
Henry nodded. ”An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Besides, just because you're a vampire now doesn't mean you can handle a fight yet. She was able to magically break every bone I have and you don't know your own strength now, Bets.” he pointed out.
" I could fight her before" she said
”Maybe you could and we just didn't give you a chance before but that was because we didn't want you to get hurt.” Henry explained. ”Humans are fragile compared to us, Bets. You hug someone wrong and you pierce their lung with their ribs.”
”And she was… is still able to hurt us because of her magic.” Lysander said. ”Not to mention we don't know how or if your gift has changed in any way because of you turning.”
"right I was screwed up and now I'm even more screwed up even if I don't want to be here my family would never take me back now" she said for some reason when she turned all her emotions were hightened
”Betty, listen to me.” Lysander said standing in front of her, looking at her eyes. ”You were never screwed up. And you as a person haven't changed. Yes, you still need to get used to being a vampire but who you are is still the same.”
She sighed running a hand through her blonde hair.
