"I might not be able to, you might be right, but I want to try," Ronan took one more step towards Adrian.
"I might not be able to, you might be right, but I want to try," Ronan took one more step towards Adrian.
Adrian flinched, backing away until his back was against the wall. "No. I'm a monster, and that's not going to change. No matter what you do."
"No," he said softly. "Please, I just want to help," Ronan echoed the thought into Adrian's mind, trying not to be too loud.
Adrian's eyes flashed. "No…" He whispered. "Nobody just helps." He looked like a trapped animal; liable to lash out at anyone who came close.
"I do," Ronan replied, taking a step back. Perhaps Adrian just needed some room. He understood how an animal might feel, being trapped with nowhere to go. Perhaps he just needed some time to fully understand the meaning of his words.
"And then what? Everyone expects something. If you help me, what do you think you'll gain?" Adrian demanded, eyes flickering.
"No. Not everyone," he said gently. Adrian probably grew up in a harsh environment, Ronan noted, noticing symptoms of abuse or whatever it was. He was afraid to accept help, he thought. "Some people just genuinely want to help," he continued.
He shook his head quickly. "No they don't." He replied. "That's not…life doesn't work that way." His throat worked nervously.
"Look, there are some people in life who are really… twisted, and they can't be saved. And some are innocent souls, but those souls have been corrupted by a darkness, and they can be saved. And others have souls that are made of light, and these are the ones that will save us from corruption. Let me try to help," Ronan was practically pleading now. There was just… there was just something about Adrian that made him want to help him so badly, but he didn't know what.
Adrian shook his head again. "I'm not savable." He whispered. "You don't know half of what I've done…" He swallowed again, shaking a little.
"It doesn't matter what you've done. I see that you're scared, frightened, all those are indicators that your soul is pure and innocent. But a darkness has corrupted it, creating new actions, feelings, thoughts," Ronan was surprised that all this was coming out of his mouth, but deep down, he knew that this was truly what he believed. That there were three main types of souls in this world, and everyone had a soul.
Adrian shook his head again. "What do you even think you can do for me?" He asked softly. "There's nothing."
Ronan paused. "…I don't really know, but I'll figure it out," he sighed. How could he get Adrian to believe him? He honestly just wanted to help, but he… he just didn't know how to get him to come with him.
He looked like he was about to cry. "See? You don't know, and…" He trailed off, biting his lip and fidgeting anxiously.
"But I did say I'll figure it out," he repeated, looking up at Adrian.
Adrian shook his head. "No…" He replied slowly. "No. You…" He fidgeted.
"I what?" Ronan questioned carefully.
"I'm not helpable. Everyone wants to lock me up. Lock me away." Shackles on my wrists and… He swallowed.
"No, we can help you without imprisonment," he said gently.
He shook his head. "That's not what everyone else thinks." He said.
"Maybe not everyone believes that, but I'll convince them otherwise," Ronan tried.
Adrian was shaking again. "No." He whispered again. "You…I…" He leaned against the wall.
"What? I'm here to help, please let me help."
"Fine." Adrian whispered, tucking his arms around himself.
"come on then, let's get you something to eat," ronan said carefully, taking a couple steps closer and setting a hand gently on adrian's shoulder.
Adrian flinched away from the touch, batting his hand away with gloved hands. "Don't touch me." He said quickly.
Holding up his hands in submission, "Okay then. But you should eat, come over to my place? I can make you something, or we could go out," Ronan suggested.
"I don't care…" Adrian replied slowly, not looking at him.
(Wait before I respond - where are they? Like in a building, ect.)
(yes. Top floor of an abandoned warehouse)
