“Get changed for swim,” River jerked his head towards the baggage room.

"Alright…" Cas went into the room and came out in swim trunks and a swim shirt on.

“Ready to learn how to swim?” River teased.

Cas sighed, crossing his arms and looking away. "I guess so…"

“Still sleepy?” River asked walking over to Cas.

"A little, but mostly anxious." He glanced over at River.

"How come?" River tilted his head and placed a strand of hair behind Cas's ear.

Cas shrugged. "I just… I'm afraid I'll drown…"

They give you a kickboard do you know what that is?" River asked.

"Um… I think so… just a floating board, right?"

"Exactly, they let you use that until you know how to swim so you can't drown. If you fall off I promise I will bring you back up to the surface," Nick smiled and kissed Cas's forehead.

Cas sighed and reluctantly agreed. "Alright… let's just go…"

“Cas are you sure you’re alright?” River looked worried as he held Cas’s shoulders.

"Yes, I'm fine. Let's just go." He walked towards the door.

River didn’t let it go but didn’t say anything else. He kept his eye on him as they walked to the dock. They waited by the dock for the other people in their bung to come.

Cas sat down by the shore to wait, tentatively dragging his fingers through the water. He still seemed pretty unsure and nervous.

The other bung members turned up and the life guard asked to come down. River started to walk down the hill to the dock. They did attendance and sent everyone to a ladder.
One of the instructors walked over to Cas. “I didn’t see you first day because River had explained that you’re hurt. Do you know how to swim? Is your ankle okay for swimming?”

"Um… I think my ankle is okay now, but I don't know how to swim…" Cas fidgeted with his hands, glancing over at River.

River gave a soft smiled then dive in the water.
“Okay then, let’s start with diving. Are you fine with getting in the water?” The instructor asked.

"I guess so." He shrugged, not making eye contact.

“First we’ll practice diving while sitting down on the steps. Sit down on the second row on the second step and then we could get started.”

Cas reluctantly obeyed, eyeing the water beneath him warily.

“Now, first you put your hands above your head and lean forward. That is all you have to do. Once your in the water we can work the rest of it out,” he said.
River made one full lap and came right in front of Cas. “You can do this. You know that it’s safe if I’m in the water. If I’m not in the water don’t trust anyone, okay?” River chuckled at his joke. “Would it help if I’m right here?”

"Y-Yeah… how do I… how do I, like, not just fall on my face?" He glanced over at the instructor, his hands trembling a bit.

“I promise you the water soft so your face won’t be affected by it. If you want you can curve you back to help you dive easier,” The instructor suggested.

Cas was still very hesitant, but after a bit of coaxing, he attempted to dive. He did it well enough to not faceplant, but it was still quite clumsy.

“Well, good thing is you can float,” River commented. “Need any help or do you think you got it?”

Cas didn't respond, just clinging to River so he wouldn't sink. He wasn't a big fan of this at all.

“I’ll take that as a no. It’s better when you feet can touch the ground that’s the best way to learn how to swim,” River smiled and moved Cas’s wet hair back. “Wanna try it again?”

He shook his head. "Th-This is fine…" He said quietly, holding tighter to River.
