Cas sighed, burying his face in Sorin's shoulder again. "You're too good for me…"
Cas sighed, burying his face in Sorin's shoulder again. "You're too good for me…"
"No," Sorin shook his head and leaned against him. "You're too good for me."
"How's that, love? I haven't done anything special."
"Despite my inability to keep you truly safe, to teach you in a way that works for you, and… and being completely open to you… you're still here."
Cas shrugged. "Well, I love you… there's nowhere else I'd rather be."
"Except somewhere where someone can take care of you properly?"
"Of course. I'd choose to be with the one I love no matter where we're living, whether that be in a mansion or on the streets. It doesn't matter to me."
"Yes, but what about teaching wise? And the fact that I can't keep you as safe?"
He shrugged again. "I'm a neko. People don't like me. I'll never be safe no matter where I am."
Sorin nodded and looked away from him, catching a glimpse at the TV that was still on. "Yeah, you're right. But you could be safer."
(Oof I'm so sorry I thought I'd replied to this)
"So? What's life without a little danger?" Cas shrugged, picking at a thread on the couch. "No one's ever truly safe."
(You're good lol)
He had to admit that he was right, but the thought of not being able to keep him safe didn't exactly sit right with him. "Yeah… you're right. But," he let out a heavy sigh and ran a hand through his light brown hair. "Dammit Cas, it's really frustrating."
"Well yeah, but it's simple enough, isn't it?" He turned his eyes back up to Sorin. "Life fucking sucks. That's how it is."
"Yeah, yeah I know," he looked down at his hands and began toying with the hem of his shirt. "I just wish… it didn't." And it drove him crazy knowing he could do nothing about it, but it was a fact that he knew he had to accept.
Cas shrugged. "We can't control everything. We can't control much at all, actually, but we can try our best, I guess."
Sorin smiled a little and took his hand into his, pressing his lips to his knuckles. "When are you ever wrong?"
"A lot of the time, honestly, but I don't generally like to admit it." Cas sighed softly. "I've lived on the streets long enough to know how the world works."
"I know, Cas, I know…" he gave him a sympathetic smile and kept his hand clasped within his. "I can't fathom what that must've been like for you…"
Cas shrugged and moved closer to Sorin, huddling against him. "It's hard, especially winter… at least I had the cats to keep me warm. It was really hard to get food, though."
"You could've died. I know this may sound bad, but…" he let go of his hand and wrapped his arms around him instead. "Why not go into one of those homes? Or foster care? I'm sure that's a better alternative than staying outside, right?"
"I tried a couple times when I was really desperate, but they're always 'full'." Cas buried his face in Sorin's chest. "And… and most people aren't keen on taking in street rats, even if only for a night or two."
His looked at him and gently stroked the side of his face with his finger. "Casper you're not a street rat," he insisted. "And it really sucks they didn't offer to take you in. I honestly thought places like these would welcome anyone in."
Cas shrugged. "They do sometimes with the younger kids, but I was probably thirteen the first time I tried… People don't like having teenagers in orphanages and stuff. They just take up space, since they rarely get adopted."
"I… never knew that," Sorin admitted and continued to stroke the other's cheek. Even though he's lived in human society for quite some time now, there were still things he didn't understand. "Well i'm glad you turned out all right."
"Eh, that's debatable, but thanks anyways…" Cas huddled closer to Sorin, sighing quietly.
"I don't really see how that's debatable, but you're very welcome."
"I love you…" He murmured, curling his tail around Sorin's leg.
"I love you too," his smile was broad at the feeling of his tail wrapped around his leg.
Cas nuzzled against Sorin's chest, purring quietly as he became more relaxed.
"Sleepy again?" He said with a grin and pressed a light peck on his nose.
