"No, if I did I wouldn't be her." She responded, turning to face the books. She reached out a hand and touched a book, smiling. She picked up the first book and opened it, looking at the words, sounding them out with her mouth.
"Would you like some help?" Evander asked, eyes wandering the shelves. We have come here so many times, trying to find answers for my condition…for my…but it isn't working…nothing works. He had tried so many things to try and fix himself but everything only seemed to make it worse.
Adresria was lost in the pages of the book, she didnt hear the king. She took the book in her hands and sat down comfortably on the floor, using a finger to lead her and mouthing the words. Only having recently learned to read, she was still having slight difficulty with some words, but she managed just fine.
Evander watched her for a moment, then went to a different section, grabbing a book and sitting down in an armchair. He began to read. I have not tried this one before…maybe it will help where the others didn't.
A couple chapters into the book and Adrestia frowned. "These people look like me." She muttered to herself, touching the paintings with a delicate touch. "Maybe the king can tell me who they are." She smiled and stood up, making her way to the king.
(should they be? And if yes, last name?)
Evander was frowning slightly as he read, his eyes narrowed and his muscles tense. His knuckles were white as he clutched the book he was reading in a tight grip. He didn't seem to notice as she approached, his concentration fully on the book in his hands.
(Maybe they had some relation to Evander's past?)
(which part of his past? Before the war, when he was still just normal, during the war, when he became a monster/whatever, or now/after yhe war?)
(How about during? Maybe the War has a great significance in her family history and he is a link that connects her to it?)
(hmmm. Alright. But it's just going to be a sorta small link, as I already have his backstory mostly plotted out lol. If that's alright)
(Tis fine, if youd rather not do it, I'm cool wh that to)
(nah I'm good with it, I'm just warning you it won't be a huge link)
(Alright, and I think the last name Drayce works)
Adrestia finly found the king sitting somewhere and walked up to him. "Two questions sir, firstly what is your name? Secondly who were these people? They look very familiar and similar to me but I cannot place why." She said
(ok)
Evander looked up, taking a deep breath. "Ah. Miss Acyn." He said. "I'm surprised you don't know my name. That's rather bad manners. King Evander Weylyn." He introduced himself. "And that is the Drayce family." He replied, taking the book from her and examining it after a moment.
"Evander Weylen." She said softly, trying to remember if she had ever heard the name before. "Ni, I'm sorry to say but I have never heard your name." She turned to the book and mouthed the names of the people. "Do you know whi they were?"
Evander nodded. Yes… more likely she has heard rumors of the shadow king. Of the monster. He shook his head quickly to dispel the memories. "Uhm…nobles." his eyes slid away from the image. He didn't want to remember them as they had been.
"Where did they live? What did they do? Did they ever visit the castle? Did they know my parents…" she rambled on and on, asking many questions, even pointless ones like what could their hair was.
Evander simply stared at her, waiting for her to stop talking so he could ask her to repeat the first two. He tapped his fingers on the arm of the chair as he looked at her, eyes expressionless as he waited.
Adrestia yawned and looked out the window at the sun as it disappeared beneath the horizon. She stood up and picked up the book, looking at Evander. "Its getting late and Majesty is probably getting nervous. With your permission I'd like to leave." She said
Evander stood up. "Do you have somewhere to stay?" He asked instead, setting his book facedown on the table. Face down, so she couldn't read the title and guess at what it was for. "You can stay here, if you need to."
"I found a room at the nearby Tavern for a good price. I already put Majesty and my wagons there." She smiled, holding tightly to the book.in her hands
Evander frowned slightly. "You sure that's a good place for a young woman to stay alone? This country is still…being fixed up after what happened." The war. When everything went to shit.
"Are you saying I cant protect myself?" She asked, putting a hand on her hip
"I'm saying that I'm not sure it's safe. I have no opinion on whether or not you can take care of yourself." Evander replied calmly, standing and adjusting his coat.
Adrestia sighed. "Fine, I'll stay here. But I'd like to be able to spend some time in the library without being told to leave." She said, signalling Mali to find Mage
Evander nodded. "Alright. I must warn you that the palace shuts down at sunset. Once sunset hits, everyone heads to their rooms, unless it is a special occasion. You will be expected to follow those same rules."
(I thought I posted something!! Sorry!!)
Adrestia sighed and looked at him with hopeful eyes. "Can I stay in the library then?" She asked. "I prefer sleeping in crowded places."
(it's fine!)
Evander glanced around the library. "This is the opposite of crowded. And no, i would prefer if you were in a room at night. Better for both my sanity and the guards that you aren't…that you're in a room. There are strange things that roam these halls at night, and i would not want you to get hurt."
Adrestia pouted and picked up the book, heading to the table. "Fine, but I'm staying here for a while."
