Abby chuckled, shaking her head. ”No. You don't have to like it,” she agreed. ”and I'm not going to claim to know much of anything about robotics but waiting too long can cause a lot of problems.” she pressed before smirking. ”I never thought I would meet a couple of procrastinating robots.”
Max laughed. "Yeah. I can relate with that."
"And I never thought I would be meeting a human, yet here we are." Ava said with a shrug.
Abby laughed a little. ”You should have seen Adar’s expression when I first met him. You took meeting me better than he did. I'm honestly still expecting someone to pass out on seeing me.”
Ava laughed. "Well I have been saying that you guys were alive for years. And everyone here has listened to my rants, whether they wanted to go not." She said, smiling.
Abby smiled. ”I’m glad you gave everyone some warning.” she quipped. ”How did you and Zara met?”
Ava's ears flushed when she asked that.
Zara on the other started laughing. "I met Ava when Max ran off." She explained.
Max folded his arms. "That wasn't my fault!"
Abby raised a brow and leaned forward. ”Was he running away from an upgrade? I would love to hear this story. Please.”
Zara chuckled. "Ava had replaced a core hard drive and it had glitched out, causing him to run off. I'm a junkie and I found Max in the dumps, out of power. I was gonna resell his parts when Ava came in." She explained.
Abby’s eyes widened in surprise. ”Yikes! That would scare me away from upgrades for a while too.” she admitted sympathetically. ”So, that would make you kind of like a scavenger?” she asked Zara, glad they seem to have something in common.
Zara folded her arms. ”Never heard it used like that but sure! Most people just call me a junkie.” She said.
Abby shrugged. ”That’s just we call it. And how I met Nyt.” she explained. ”Sometimes it’s still hard to believe that I’m a semi unofficial Ambassador.”
Ava laughed. "Well it is a big transition. Hiding from us then coming out to talk to us? But you have people helping you! It'll be fine!" She reassured her.
”Yeah. It was a bit awkward.” Abby nodded with a light blush. ”But I’m glad I have them.” she smiled.
Ava smiled at her before her watch started beeping. "Shoot I forgot!" She said standing up rapidly and running out of the room.
Abby smirked. ”What did she forget?” she asked Zara. Something tells me that is a normal occurrence.
Zara shrugged. ”It could be anything from needing to do something to Eve to she left something in the oven. Ava is about as unpredictable as Max with a new hard drive.” She said with a smile.
Max looked like he wanted to smack the smile off her face but held back.
Abby laughed at the joke and Max’s grumpy expression. ”Like mother, like son huh?” she teased. ”I wonder if any of those upgrades would include a sense of humor for Max.”
Max cringed at Abby using the term ’mother’ for Ava but didn’t say anything. ”I have a great sense of humor! I prefer not to use my humor around guests though.” He said, relaxing into the couch concussions.
Zara pointed at Max. ”Ava would remove your circuit board of you did that around guests.” She said.
”Well, now I'm curious. How bad is his humor?” Abby asked, though she was a bit hesitant to find out.
”He's got dirty humor that Ava doesn't like.” Bates said from her shoulder. He had kinda curled up there.
Max held up his arms. ”I'm sorry that I like stuff that doesn't involve wreaking something or injuring someone.” He said looking at Bates.
”Oh, is that all?” Abby chuckled. ”I’m sure I’ve heard worse in the camp. But since I'm a guest, I won't ask to break Ava’s rules.” she smiled. ”Hey, wrecking stuff can be fun sometimes!”
”And it can be funny! But Bates takes it to an extreme! What do you think he did before I came in?” Max asked, sitting up so he could stare at Bates.
”I thought he poured oil or something on you.” Abby admitted with a light blush. ”Was it worse than that? Or do I really want to know?”
Max shrugged. ”That's pretty darn close. He put oil on the floor and poured it on my after I slipped!” He scowled. ”And that's one of his lighter pranks too! He is the reason why matches, lighters, needles, pins, safety pins, gasoline, and knifes of any kind are banned.”
Bates sat on Ava's shoulder looking cute as ever.Maybe not innocent considering he was smiling mischievously but cute none the less.
Abby covered her mask to hide the fact that she was trying not to smirk at the prank. ”That’s actually a little terrifying if those aren't allowed in the house.” she looked at Bates. ”Please tell me you didn't name him after the guy in that one Stephen King book.”
Nyt smiled a big smile. "Ava and I first met when she had just finished building Bates. I gave the book to her as a present and she decided to give him that name. And he libed up to it quite well."
”Yikes.” Abby groaned. ”You do know that story is the horror story every book of that genre tries to emulate. It still scares people to this day.” she sighed. ”Stephen King’s books are the pinnacle of horror.”
Around this moment Ava came back in. ”Sorry for leaving! I had to work out a few things with Eve. There were either a few bugs or hackers in her system. I’ll figure out which it was later.” She said as she sat back down, placing a small round disk on the table. ”What did I miss?”
Abby shrugged and looked at Ava. ”Not much I guess. We were just talking about Bates’ name and how he lives up to it with his pranks.” she gestured curiously at the disk. ”What’s that?”
Once Ava heard the words ’Bates’ and ’pranks’ in the same sentence she sighed. ”Yes. Yes he does. Oh! And this is Eve. She doesn’t have a body yet but I’m working on it. Its just her conscious.” She said picking back up the disk and pressing a button on it before setting it back down.
