Lysander let her hold him as tightly as she wanted. It wouldn't hurt him anyway. ”Whatever Henry made you see, I promise it wasn't real. I would never hurt you. It's alright, love.”
"y-you were dead" she cried out.
That damned… he started to growl before holding her closer. ”It's not going to happen, Betty. I’m a Vampire. We're not easy to kill.” he attempted to calm her, not mentioning that in a way he already was, at least, partially dead.
She took a deep breath , her breath coming out shaky
Lysander placed a kiss to her cheek, glad that she seemed to be doing better.
she closed her eyes gently.
”Feeling better, love?” Lysander asked slowly starting to help her stand.
she got to her feet and nodded.
Lysander gave her an encouraging smile and kept an arm around her shoulders, holding her close but still able to move.
”Good. Now, which of you two are going to explain what is going on here with both of you?” Charles asked, surprisingly calmly.
"Arranged Marriage…Oracle….Vampire…chemistry" she said sarcasticaly.
"Arranged Marriage…Oracle….Vampire…chemistry" she said sarcasticaly.
”Well, that's a vague explanation.” Charles chuckled. ”Lysander. Perhaps you can clear this up.”
Lysander nodded, keeping his protective hold around Betty. ”I agreed to an arranged marriage to this young woman who is a true Oracle and I have come to love her.”
Betty looked up at Lysander and smiled gently.
Lysander briefly returned the look lovingly, holding back from kissing her in front of Charles despite how much he wanted to.
Charles nodded with a thoughtful expression. ”Well, I won't stop you, since you're nearly four centuries and she’ll be your first. But I have to wonder, who benefits the most from this arrangement and what kind of marriage will this be?” he asked, not referring to the context of ”traditional” or the fact that it was arranged.
"Why does it matter?" she asked.
Lysander flinched slightly at the mention of his age. ”We haven't had a chance to talk about that yet.” he muttered.
Charles shrugged. ”I suppose the first doesn't really matter. I was just curious. But the second matters quite a lot.” he explained. ”I am merely asking if you plan to spend the rest of your life with him or if he will spend his with you.”
Betty suddenly got nervous and took a step back" I uh Um" she muttered.
”Charles, please. We haven't talked about that yet. Unlike what you did to me, I want her to have a choice.” Lysander pleaded with a light growl before he faced Betty. ”I told you that I wouldn't do anything you were uncomfortable with, Betty. There's no reason to rush a decision on that. We can talk more about it later if you’d like.” he assured.
”It’s better to talk about it sooner rather than later.” Charles advised. ”You may have eternity to make up your mind, Lysander. She does not.”
"No But I Have A Pretty D*mn long time I come from a long Line Of werewolves And I'm Not afraid Of you Charles" she said confidentily.
Charles raised a brow with a light chuckle at her bravery. ”Be careful who you say that to, my dear. Some, like Henry, will take that as an insult and try to make you fear them.” he turned his amused expression to Lysander. ”I can see why you like her. As I promised, I won't stop this from happening but I expect an invitation to the big day.”
Lysander nodded reluctantly, turning to Betty silently asking if she was alright with that.
she nodded slowly before turing away up the stairs.
”Wonderful!” Charles smiled gleefully. ”Then, I’ll leave now and deal with Henry.” his expression turned a bit more stern as he approached the door. ”Oh, and Lysander. What I did to you was to save your life. Don't forget that.”
Lysander didn't respond to Charles, just watched him as he left the house. A minute later, he walked up the stairs to check on Betty.
Betty layed on her bed on her side away from the door.
Lysander gently knocked against the door. ”Betty? May I come in?”
She nodded,"yeah".
He sat on the bed next to her. ”Are you alright? I am so sorry for what happened today.”
"It's not your fault" she mumbled.
”No? I may not have caused those two to show up but I wasn't able to protect you.” Lysander groaned.
she turned to face him "its not your job to protect me" she said.
