"Why?" He glanced at Allie. "You got any idea who in the hell this girl is?"
"Why?" He glanced at Allie. "You got any idea who in the hell this girl is?"
“Nope, not the faintest idea,” she responded apprehensively, glancing at the other girl. “I’m assuming you don’t know her…”
Logan nodded, then shook his head. "No, I don't." He replied slowly. "Should I shoot her?"
“Maybe in the leg or something,” Allie agreed, glancing back at the girl with apprehension.
“I’m Rita’s sister,” Irene snapped. “Remember how you took her in? She was running from me, because she thought she could get away. Well, she can’t and I’ll make her pay.”
Allie was confused. She barely even knew Rita, let alone what would make two sisters turn against each other so completely.
"I still don't see what in the hell that has to do with me or Allie. If you've got beef with your sister, take it up with her." Logan replied coldly.
Allie nodded in agreement. Irene glared at them, a mad glint in her eye. Allie wondered what had put it there.
“Because she’s part of it too!” Irene accused.
“Part of what?!” Allie demanded, confused as ever. “She’s crazy,” she added quietly to Logan.
"Part of what?" Logan cocked an eyebrow, pressing his lips into a thin line. He had no idea what was happening.
“The—the people working with the aliens to destroy us once and for all!” Irene yelled, looking flushed and even less sane the longer she was talking.
“What. The. Hell,” Allie muttered.
“He’s one of them, isn’t he?!” Irene spat.
Logan's eyes flickered, then narrowed. "What on Earth are you talking about?" He demanded, voice cold and chilling.
“You’re an alien!” Irene exclaimed fearfully, her hand that was holding the gun shaking. “Both of you!”
Allie narrowed her eyes. “She’s insane,” she decided.
(just a heads up i won’t be on that much for the next couple of weeks so my replies will be kinda sporadic)
(that's totally fine, don't worry about it)
Logan raised an eyebrow. "She isn't an alien. I'm inclined to believe that you're insane."
“I am not!” Irene’s voice went up about two octaves. She was looking even more feverish now. Allie noticed how Logan didn’t say that he wasn’t an alien, but that was a discussion for later.
“Yeah, you are,” Allie said firmly. “Now please leave. I really don’t want to hurt you.”
Logan cocked his gun. "If you don't want any trouble, then you should be on your way. If you would like to leave full of holes, then go ahead and stay."
Irene paused for a moment, as if deciding, then turned scampered into the woods like a scared deer. Allie sighed with relief. “That was weird,” she remarked, watching Irene go.
"Yeah." Logan agreed, uncocking the gun and slowly lowering it, though he remained on the alert for if he needed to use it again.
“So, can I ask you something?” Allie asked, raising an eyebrow and trying her best not to sound accusing.
Logan turned and looked at her. "Uhm…sure." he replied slowly, raising an eyebrow.
“So back there you said, ‘she’s not an alien’ and not ‘we’re not aliens’ or ‘I’m not an alien,’” Allie began, wetting her lips nervously. “Why…why did you word it like that? You wouldn’t…you’re not…an alien. Right?” The last few words came out breathy and quiet, with Allie standing completely still.
Logan hesitated for a long moment, then let out a soft breath. "I…yeah. I-I am. I'm sorry." He admitted slowly, holding up his hands to try and seem less threatening. His golden eyes flickered a little, those strange white hairs at his temple shining in the light.
“Oh my god…I trusted you! I can’t believe it, I told myself not to trust anyone for fear that they would be an alien who would be trying to kill me in my sleep or something and to think I actually started to like you!” She took a deep breath, her eyes stinging as she fought to hold her tears in. “I…I’m such a fool…”
Logan took a step back, looking down. "I know…I'm sorry." He replied quietly. "It isn't your fault." He sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry." He said again, not looking at her.
Allie began to cry, turning away from Logan in embarrassment. “When were you going to tell me?” she asked quietly, her voice strained.
Logan bit his lip. "Never? I don't know…" He shook his head slightly, exhaling. "I'm sorry." He said again, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Are…are you going to kill me now?” she whispered, almost afraid to say it. She wiped at her eyes, glancing at Logan for a moment.
He shook his head slowly. "No." He replied simply, looking away. "I'm not." He raked a hand through his hair anxiously.
“Then why are you here?” she inquired. “Why aren’t you with the others?” She had stopped crying now, thankfully, and turned to face Logan after wiping her face one more time, hoping she didn’t look as bad as she thought she did.
He closed his eyes, shaking his head. "It's complicated." He replied slowly. "But…I don't mean you or any others harm, I swear. If my word is worth anything to you, anyway."
“You let me believe you were human too!” she fumed, getting a bit angry now. “And I hate it, but I…believe you.”
Logan nodded, eyes still closed. "I know." He replied softly, then opened his eyes, looking at her. "You…do?"
