Sucorra was on the ground, gasping. She watched Iris carefully. Who exactly was she? What was her power? "No hard feelings, yeah?" she croaked out to Iris, cracking a hint of a smile.

"Yes. Yes, I did. But I think you're done now." He laughed nervously and turned away from the students. The voice at the back of his mind had scared him. Quite a lot. He glanced at the clock "Nevermind! Class isn't over! Heh, come back to the classroom, I'll tell you some stuff."

"Yeah," Iris agreed. She'd noticed that during the fight, Sucorra too had resorted to the old way, no magic involved. But that fog, at the beginning - was that not magic?

Sucorra stood, heading off to the classroom. She paused at the entrance, turning around. "Oh! Sorry," she apologized to Iris. "I almost forgot. Here." She reached out a hand and the fog lifted itself from Iris, returning back to Sucorra. "There; much better." With that, she headed into the classroom.

Iris looked at Sucorra, confused. What'd just happened? She took her seat, with hesitation clear in her actions. Leaning in a bit next to Mason, she asked in a quiet voice, "Is it just me or does the teacher seem a bit nervous for some reason?"

Colton finished setting up his experiment, knowing that it took a lot of precision in the right amount of chemicals to make sure no student would end up dying. He heard the warning bell that meant the previous class would be over soon before making his way to his blackboard, harshly writing the topic they would be learning on the board as students came in.

Iris glanced at her schedule. Chem next. Ugh, she was terrible at all things science-y. "So," she started as she turned to Mason. "Which class do you have next? I have chem."

Evelyn walked over to the new kid, maybe a new friend! “Hi! You must be new, I’m Evelyn, Evelyn Lazine! What’s your name?” She flashed her usual cheery smile.

"I, uh, oh, I'm Iris, nice to meet you Evelyn," she gave a weak smile. After that fight, she was feeling a bit uneasy. What kind of school was this?

Evelyn sighed “Aren’t the fights exhausting? I usually lose. Anyway- what class do you have next? I have chemistry! I love chemistry!” Evelyn happy mood was back- she was always optimistic, even if it was a bit tiring.

"I-" The fights were usual? For once, Iris was at a loss for words. "Um… chem, yeah…" her voice trailed off, her brain far away.

“Awesome! Your not used to the fights are you? Of course not! Your new! Silly me!” She tightened the teal bow that held the top half of her hair in a tight half up half down style and bounced on her white converses making her teal skirt ripple. Just making sure she looked ok, she checked to make sure her white off shoulder top was tucked in. Satisfied with her appearance, she began to play with a wavy hot pink strand if hair.

The rush from the fight wearing off now, Sucorra sighed as she once again felt bored. She conjured up some misfortune and made it a solid form, rolling it around in her hand.

“Hey Sucorra! How was the fight!” Evelyn called over the tops of the students.

“It was interesting. Different,” she replied to Evelyn. “The new kid put up a better fight; more than I expected.”

“More fun or more difficult? Or both! It’s always best when it’s both.” Evelyn smiled at the girl.

Colton heard the sound of smiling(yes, smiling, lmao) in the hallways before peeking his head out into the hallways to see students lounging around. "Get to your next class or else you will be reported for skipping." He said sharply, before going back into his class.

“Let’s go!” Evelyn practically skipped into chemistry. “Hello Mr. Quinn? What will we be doing today?”

“It was both,” Sucorra returned the smile, adjusting the hat on her head. Hearing the threat from the teacher, she arrived in his class, taking a seat.

Evelyn turned back to Sucorra, “well that sounds delightful!”

"It's written on the board." He said in a monotone voice. He didn't know what he was doing teaching students in a school when he could be doing other things. 'Periodic Table' was written on the board with clear and precise white lettering. "We will be doing an experiment that requires the utmost focus and dedication. I hope you studied the last 78 pages in the textbook because everything we will be doing is based on that."

Evelyn’s voices stayed chipper as she said, “I studied extra hard!”

Mason groaned. He hated the periodic table. They studied it every year. "He did seem nervous." He said to Iris. "and we have fights almost every lesson. You get used to it. Eventually. I always lose. But! I have a strategy for next time!"

"Do I hear talking?" He said, purposely staring in Mason's direction before letting him off the hook, too tired to deal with their shenanigans. "Who can tell me which group is halogens and which are alkaline metals?" He asked them, twisting his pointer around.

Evelyn raised her hand, ready to answer. She knew it!

"Yes, Evelyn?" He asked, already knowing that she would know the answer to the question.

Evelyn looked pleased as she answered, “fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and astatine are the halogens and Alkaline metals are beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, and radium.”

"Correct, everyone take notes from her and pay more attention. It will be you I'm calling on next. He left that statement ambiguous before facing the board. He wrote down ionic compounds and a long line underneath it, highlighting the silence in his class. "We will make as many stable ionic compounds using these two groups today. Whoever can make the most successful ones gets a prize. Get into groups of two."

"Iris?" Mason asked
