Theodosia wipes her tears away and sniffles before sitting up. "Yes, thank you." Though she hates crying, she feels as though it was necessary this time.

"Why is this news so upsetting?" she asked quietly.

"Vivian, I can't have a baby. If it turns out to be a girl then Richard………and then my Mother nearly died when she had me." The words don't make much sense but she's fretting too much to care.

"Look at me," Vivian said firmly. "You will not die. I will not let you, nor will I let Master do anything against you. I'm not leaving until you are happier and safer than when I arrived."
It all came tumbling out in a rush, a rush that Vivian had not meant to express. But there was no going back now.

Theodosia lifts her head and forces herself to meet her gaze. Without thinking too much about it, she pulls her friend in for a hug. "Thank you, Vivian," She murmurs, really appreciating this. Things are really stressful right now so she really needs the support that Vivian is offering her right now.

Vivian automatically wrapped Theodosia into a hug as well, holding her close. "Anything, anytime. You must know that."

Theodosia hides her face against her neck with a sigh. "Thank you for being my friend, Vivian." What would she do without her?

"Of course. I'll be here for you," she promised. "We should clean you up," she said after a pause, continuing to stroke Theodosia's hair.

Straightening up again, she nods her head. "Please don't tell Richard about this." She's sure that she wont but she wants to make sure.

"I'd never."
She stood, offering her hand to Theodosia.

Theodosia takes her hand and stands up, brushing off her dress.

Vivian led Theodosia up to the master bedroom, and back to the bedroom to clean away her smudged makeup and refresh it. She sat her down on the edge of the tub again.

Theodosia sits down on the edge of the tub and stays perfectly still as Vivian helps get her killed up. She feels horrible but she can't let Richard see her like this.

She removes and retraces her Lady's makeup, making sure her hair stays done and that Richard would notice nothing. "All finished."

"Thank you," She says with a soft smile. "Will you accompany me into town today? I don't want to stay here." She doesn't feel to great but she can't stay in the house.

"I can do that."
She hopes that none of the other maids need her for anything, but finds herself unable to refuse Theodosia. "I'll fetch your coat, ma'am."

She thanks her again before standing up and heading back into the bedroom. Addie hurries over to her and paws at her leg, whining loudly and begging for attention.

"We can take her, if you like," Vivian suggests, about to exit the bedroom.

"That would be nice," Theodosia agrees, bending down and picking Addie up, cuddling her close to her chest.

With a smile and and a nod, she headed downstairs to prepare the dog’s basket. “Meet me downstairs?” She called back at Theodosia, in a strangely casual tone.

“Yes, I’ll be there in a moment,” She calls out in response. Having someone around who actually used her name and views her as a person rather than as a lady has been wonderful. She doesn’t know what she would do without her. After gathering up what she needs, she heads down the stairs.

Vivian is waiting just outside in her thin maid’s uniform, holding Addie in her cushioned basket. She brightens when Theodosia walks out and starts fit the open road.

Theodosia takes the shawl she had brought with her and drapes it around Vivian's shoulders. It's much too cold outside for someone not to be wearing a shawl or jacket.

Vivian looks over at Theodosia, surprised but grateful. She looks back ahead, a sweet smile breaking across her usually professionally plain expression.

Theodosia returns the smile, her cheeks turning a rosy color. "Where are you from, Vivian?" She asks curiously, wanting to learn more about the other woman.

“A tiny village around Belfast. Doubt you’d know it,” she told Theodosia with a bashful smile. “Me, mother and two siblings. How about you?”

"I was born and raised a few towns over. Just me and my father and mother," She replies, looking up at the sky. "What was it like growing up near Belfast?"

"Loud and full of potatoes," Vivian sighed exaggeratedly before letting out a giggle at her own joke. "Big families are normal there, so it was a lot of fun."

Theodosia laughs quietly and shakes her head. “A lot of people and a lot of potatoes. What more could anyone ask for?” A smile tugs at her lips as she pictures it in her head.
