"Er, alright. Thanks." Cas sat down on the floor and started getting anxious when Nick left to get the cream. Nix rubbed up against him and hopped into his lap, sensing his anxiety. Cas pet the cat gently, but his nervousness didn't fade just yet.
Nick came back shortly with the cream, setting it down on the plush, carpeted floor. “I’m back!” He beamed.
Cas breathed a quiet sigh of relief, still stroking Nix. "That's good… er… welcome back?"
Nick chuckled. “Thanks. So how do you feel?”
"Little nervous, not gonna lie." Cas nudged Nix towards the cream and he went, though Cas seemed to tense up when the cat left.
Nick looked at Cas, eyes wide and confused. “Why?” he asked, wondering what would make Cas anxious here. But Nick couldn’t exactly blame him, based on what had happened.
"Oh, um… I mentioned the bad separation anxiety, right? Well… uh…" Cas blushed a bit, looking away. "You sorta left the room and stuff, and I got… uh… I got kinda anxious…"
“Oh, I see,” Nick responded. “Nix helps with that, right?” He wanted to understand, so he could help if need be.
Cas nodded. "Yeah, he helps some, but it's harder for me to relax when someone I actually like leaves me alone…" He blushed again.
Nick blushed too. He probably means as a friend though… he told himself. “Okay,” he said. “That makes sense. Have you picked somewhere to sleep yet?”
"Um… no, not yet. I'll probably just sleep on the couch or something." Nix finished the cream and trotted back over to Cas.
“If you want to,” Nick said. “I can get you a blanket or two. I have loads to spare.”
"That'd be good… thanks." Cas hugged Nix again with a soft sigh.
Nick went over to his bed and took a thick blanket off of the top, setting it on the couch gently. He also took a pillow to the couch. “Is that good?”
Cas nodded and curled up on the couch with Nix. "I'll probably just sleep now… it's already kinda late."
“Okay, sounds good,” Nick responded. “I’m kind of tired too. Good night, Cas.”
"G'night…" Cas closed his eyes and yawned, huddling into the blanket.
Nick changed quickly and crawled into his bed, glancing at Cas before closing his eyes and slowly falling asleep.
After a bit of tossing and turning, Cas suddenly found himself curled up against Nick in the bed. Too tired to wonder how this happened or to care, he just cuddled closer and fell asleep.
Nick didn’t notice, since he was fast asleep, but he put his arms around Cas.
(time skip to the morning?)
(Yep)
Cas woke up in the morning cuddling with Nick. He blushed bright red, but made no attempt to move.
Nick yawned, waking up slowly. At first he didn’t notice anything, then he realized that he was definitely spooning Cas. How…? “Morning,” he croaked, not moving, though he could feel himself blushing as well.
"M-Morning…" Cas responded, his voice cracking a bit. Nix was curled up against Cas's belly as well.
“Not that I’m complaining, but how did you get from the couch to here?” Nick asked, glancing back at the couch. It wasn’t that far, but still.
"I don't really remember… I just remember being really tired, and I vaguely recall coming over thing. Next thing I knew, I woke up here." Cas mumbled, huddling more into the blankets for warmth.
“Oh, cool,” Nick muttered, still only half-awake. “This actually isn’t half bad.” He smiled sleepily.
"Mmm…" Cas mumbled his assent, but was a bit too afraid to try and move any closer, so he stayed where he was.
Nick shifted a little, causing him to get closer to Cas. “I don’t want to actually get up…” he mumbled. “I’m still so tired.”
"Mhmm…" Cas hesitantly leaned back against Nick so he was being spooned. He'd never done this before, but god it felt nice…
Nick closed his eyes and sighed with contentment, not realizing that he had done that. It felt so natural to hold Cas like this, and he knew he’d be reluctant when it was time to actually get up and do something else.
