”Enjoy being a teddy bear for the night, Caleb!” Abby laughed out. ”I know I do.” she said softer so only Nyt could hear that part.
The room wasn't really much more than an old mattress, a couple of blankets and a pillow with a box of clean clothes in the corner.
Nyt laughed as she sat down on her bed. She laid down and let out a sigh. "Today was a long day." She said smiling and looking at Abby.
”It really was but it still felt like it went by really fast.” Abby fought back a yawn, snuggling against Nyt. ”I was honestly expecting a lot worse though.”
Nyt snuggled into Abby. "I was expecting a lot worse as well." She said nuzzling into her neck.
Abby giggled, sleepily. ”If someone had told me back before we met that all this was going to happen… I wouldn't have believed them.”
Nyt laughed. ”I'll agree with that! 'Hey Nyt! You're going to find a extinct alien race in your garage and try to make peace with them!'” She joked.
Abby smiled. ”Who would have thought; one dumb decision would be the start to changing the world.” Abby giggled, ”I mean: me, an ambassador of peace. No one would have taken the idea seriously.”
”Dumb decision? That was the best decision you've ever made.” Nyt said laughing a bit at the end.
”I know that now.” Abby smiled, snuggling closer. ”But at the time, I thought it was a very stupid risk. I am glad I took it and won't do it any differently; if I could do it again.”
Nyt smiled. ”Honestly do you have any idea how surprised I was?” She asked.
Abby shrugged. ”I can probably imagine. Though the closest I can get to would be seeing a dinosaur or a dodo or something.” she admitted tiredly.
”What are those?” Nyt asked.
”Well, a dodo was some kind of flightless bird that went extinct because of something called the Ice Age. Dinosaurs are an even older prehistoric species giant lizards.” Abby explained as best she could. ”No one really knows how they disappeared.”
"What? You have a species that you don't know how they died?" Nyt asked.
”I guess so.” Abby shrugged. ”There's a lot of theories but no one can confirm any of them. Mostly because of how long ago it was, and a lot of people don't think humans were even around at the same time as they were.”
”How long have humans been on earth?” She asked, starting to think they had also come from another planet along time ago.
Abby raised a brow at the question. ”I don't have a number of years but Earth has always been our home.” she smiled at Nyt, ”If we do succeed then it can be your home too.”
Nyt smiled a bit at the last comment. ”Maybe. We can only try.” She said as she cuddled into Abby. She was so tired.
Abby nodded, closing her eyes. ”And I won't give up. I promise.” she smiled returning the embrace.
Nyt nodded and drifted off to sleep as she nuzzled a bit more into Abby.
Abby hesitated for a moment as she felt Nyt fall asleep before she lifted her mask and placed a light kiss against her forehead. ”Goodnight, Nyt.” she murmured softly, replacing her mask and drifting to sleep soon after.
Nyt hummed a bit in her sleep when Abby did that. ”Till morning comes.” She mumbled to Abby.
(Sure! I might not be on a lot today.)
Toby was the first one up in the morning but he decided to let the others sleep a bit longer. Contrary to Abby's belief, Toby did, in fact, have a working camera but because film was hard to come by he rarely used it. This particular morning, after seeing his goddaughter and the three guests, he couldn't resist. So he quickly snapped a picture of each of them still snuggled together.
When Toby snapped a picture of them, Nyt´s ears flicked before she opened her eyes to see what the sound was and found Toby there. She looked at him with a confused look and realized that she was still cuddling Abby. She slowly pulled her arms away from Abby, trying not to wake her up.
Abby was still half asleep at the moment and nuzzled closer to Nyt as she pulled away.
Toby looked like a deer in the headlights as he realized he had been caught, but smiled softly when Abby was reluctant to let go.
Nyt looked between Abby and Toby before chuckling and abruptly sitting up with Abby in her arms.
Abby gave a soft moan at the movement. ”Nyt? Are you ok?” she slurred, her voice thick from just waking up.
Toby took this moment to attempt to hide the camera hoping Nyt wouldn’t ask about it just yet.
