What if notebook.ai had an educational version? I recently told my teacher about notbook.ai and they said it would be great for creative writing and the like, but most schools wouldn’t allow it and usually block it because of the discussion feature. What if it was just the 4 free pages, documents and maybe even timelines with the discussions disabled?
What are you suggesting? We can already not discuss if we don’t want to.
@Althalosian-is-Ninjobama Yeah, but the kids will want to, while the schools won't want them to (Is what they're trying to say, I think)
Sounds like shutting down the discussion chats which… neBolósusse. It ain’t good.
That's…not really andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s problem though? Blocking or unblocking Notebook is on the school, not on andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer).

Especially since there's a lot more to the chats than just general. What's the point of making a "school-friendly" Notebook where kids can make characters but can't talk about/ask for critique of them?
Discussion is also not only used for general chat but for writers interacting characters and talking about things they've written. It doesn't make any sense to shut off those interactions between those writers lmao
Actually there is technically a "turn off all social features" feature for accounts already that I built for people who just wanted to use Notebook.ai as a tool to worldbuild with and didn't want to get distracted by chats, the stream, etc. I've toyed with the idea of trying to get schools on board with using Notebook.ai more often (with or without that feature automatically-on for students), but it's honestly a lot of work trying to sell schools on things (especially if those things cost anything!) and I'd much rather work on just trying to make the site better and better (and hope schools eventually find it so useful that they'll choose to use it on their own).
I've had a few teachers reach out though and ask about using it in their classroom and I love it when that happens! If you think the site would be useful for your teacher, do feel free to recommend it to them and/or have them reach out to me at andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)@indentlabs.com and I can help figure something out. :)

…Yeah, good point
Casual reminder that you're hellappreciated, andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer).
Is there a way to automatically follow all the discussions people you're following make? If not, that would be great
oh that might be cool! that way you dont miss someone's chat if it gets buried during an active site hour.

I second this

I've found the best way to keep track of new threads from people I follow is to visit the Stream, which is slow enough pace right now (for me, at least!) that it's mostly just new discussions. That might not always work out as more people share notebook pages (we'll see…) so I'll also make sure I get some kind of follow-discussions-from-people-you-follow setting in the backlog somewhere.

Thanks. :) It's been a rough couple weeks with a lot going on off-site, but it's always nice to hear that people are enjoying the thing I spend almost every free waking moment working on. <3
Hey, by any chance, would you be interested in adding an option to turn off the short descriptions listed after fields you’ve added recently? What I mean is the little bit that says, for example, “EYE COLOR - What is Monyi Havits’s eye color?” on the View pages of characters. They’re helpful, but I find that they can be distracting from the actual user-written text below it. I think it would be a good idea to add an option in the settings to toggle and untoggle these short descriptions — they’re really useful for newer users, but not so much the ones who have been exposed to the platform for a while. :) Great update, by the way! Love this site!
man i want an option to block specific people from chats. like if someone's causing issues on a chat, you can ban them from only that chat. kinda similar to blocking but with blocking, they can still post, and therefore still cause problems
I have a few suggestions about a maps feature for the future if its not already being worked on.
Having markers for labelling places would be very useful. What if it had an option to show only certain markers for certain places, like continents, countries, states, towns, locations, landmarks, and maybe even buildings, kinda like how tagging works. Having them coloured to their corresponding categories would be nice too.
If you click on a marker it comes up with the overview as well as an option to link and take you to another map of the marked place if it exists
I’m not sure if the gallery has a zoom feature but being able to zoom in on the map and the markers would be very useful, especially if you have a lot of markers on one map.
I know getting a map feature is probably still very far away and some of these are likely the most obvious features to have but I just thought I’d put them out there, and these are only suggestions, it doesn’t have to be this way.
Yeah we might have a map someday. But emphasize the might and the someday.
This might be a bit redundant, but maybe a "relationships" page to track the progress of specific dynamics with things like their first meeting, first date, first time they realized they were in love, etc.? It wouldn't necessarily need to be for romances, you could play around and have different parts to fill out for different relationship types.

I think W*rldAnvil has something like that, I don't remember though

Ooooh
I don't know if this has been requested yet or not, but I'm going to ask anyways! :]
In the "Characters" section of Worldbuilding, it would be amazing to have a seperate section for backround characters only. I have characters that aren't included in my book besides rumors or lore, or they aren't included in the main story line. It would be extremely helpful to be able to make simplified character files for them AWAY from the main characters so they don't mix up. It would make making characters easier and a lot more organized. ^^
I'd love to be able to link people like parents or family friends of my main characters without needing to fill out a new character file. (if you dont understand just reply and Ill try my best to sound better LOL)
Customize Characters.
would it be any trouble to change the profile picture set for the food page? I don't know how others feel about it but it makes the names of the foods hard to read with such a busy background.
See now there’s an interesting idea.
I think this has been brought up before? But maybe like, some way to have a "subcategory" by universe? Like, filter by book/series that take place in the same universe? Like I could view, for example, Universe A, and then universe A can be broken down into story/series X, Y, and Z?
That would be super cool. I’m trying to work with Althalos being inside Ennôti and Althalos has basically no contact with Ekstráp Kosmúnd after year 472 but they're still connected so it would be nice and helpful to categorize them as such.
