Why does finding a place rent have to be so impossible?

Like every add is like "Here's a shitty one bedroom apartment with no furniture, in a really bad area of town. Costs $10,000/month plus your soul. Also, no pets, no smoking, no kids, no friends over, no nothing. Your not even allowed to fucking breathe in this hellhole. But you're close to shopping centers and major transit stops so the price is totally worth it."

Like please just give me a one (1) bedroom apartment that's not a scam or ridiculously expensive. Is that so much to ask? Is it????!?!?!
