Nora dragged a few others onto the dance floor but her focus was on Rowan. Lights flashed and the music grew louder. People were finally relaxed and having fun. She took Rowan's hand and spun her around. "I love this song!" She was having the time of her life.
Rowan laughed at Nora's excitement. She grabbed her and pulled her close so they moved together. Even though she knew Nora would be there, Rowan hadn't expected tonight to be this fun. She could hear the beat pounding in her chest as song after song played. The music changed to a slower song, and now it was Rowan's turn to pull Nora along. Into a corner of the room, to be exact. "Dance with me," she asked.
Nora laughed and trailed after Rowan without protest. Slow songs were never really her thing but she made an exception just this one time. "I hope you know what you're doing." She never learned how to slow dance so she wasn't really sure what to do with her feet. She looked down and studied her feet, careful not to step on Rowan's toes.
"Oh don't worry, I do," Rowan said with a satisfied smile. "Just follow my lead." She pulled Nora into her and put her hands around her waist. Rowan started swaying with the music, not moving too much. She decided it was probably best to keep this dance simple. She looked around. Everyone else was either occupied or not paying attention. "If I say please will you kiss me?"
Nora moved closer to Rowan and wrapped her arms around her. The song was fairly simple and the dance matched it. She followed along with whatever Rowan was doing without asking any questions. The other woman appeared to know what she was doing. "You don't even have to say please." The question had delighted her. She cupped her face and pulled her in for a kiss.
Rowan smiled against Nora's lips. They felt soft and demanding. Nothing else existed. After a second she pulled away to catch her breath. "But it's polite to say please," she said softly.
Nora made a small noise of protest when the kiss ends. "In that case, may I please kiss you again?" She asked hopefully, a goofy smile on her face.
"Well since you asked so politely, . . . " Rowan said as she moved towards Nora. She kissed her slowly, with purpose. They never stopped dancing as they kissed, still swaying to the music and enjoying each other's company.
Nora smiled before she kissed Rowan again. The song changed but she was too wrapped up in Rowan to notice. She pulled her even closer, her dancing slowed down. Everything else around them meant nothing, she just cared about the woman whom she was kissing.
Rowan pulled away for a moment to catch her breath and then leaned down and kissed Nora again. The kiss deepened, both of them moving in sync. They danced to their own rhythm. Rowan savored Nora, drinking her in.
Neither one of them noticed the red light blink on in the dormant security camera in the corner, watching the room.
(Is it okay if you use your next reply to timeskip?)
(What do you want me to skip to?)
(Maybe a week later with them going back to their rooms after a long day?)
(Okay!)
Nora held her close, not letting go for a second. The kiss wasn't like any other that she'd ever experienced. It was different. She would stay like this all night if she could.
The week went by slowly. The only good parts of the day were those she spent with Rowan. Unfortunately, today had been even worse. After a particularly long shift, Nora stumbled into the room, not talking to anyone as she headed straight for the bed.
"Hey." Rowan's once-cheery smile at Nora coming in the room melted as she saw Nora's expression. She walked over to her slowly. "What's wrong Nora?"
Nora didn't bother with trying to get on her bunk, she just flopped down on Rowan's bunk. "Those dumb bastards can't do a damn thing right and I'm the one suffering because of it."
Rowan sat down next to her and ran her hands through Nora's hair gently. "Did the Seargents blame it on you?" she asked. "That's really messed up." The girls in their room were used to the two of them by now. They could probably sleep in the same bed and none of them would care.
Nora sighed heavily. "Of course they did. They're not going to own up to their mistakes. They were supposed to be monitoring everything, not me. I'm not even in a supervisory role!" Being blamed for the mistakes of those around her had been beyond infuriating.
Rowan nodded. She wasn't good at dealing with her own emotions, but she mostly knew how to listen and offer advice. "You should be the supervisor," she said, nodding solemnly. "You could be a good leader."
Nora snorted in disbelief. "No, I wouldn't. I'd end up backhanding every single one of those incompetent idiots within the first hour of my being in charge." That wasn't even an exaggeration, she would definitely do it.
Rowan laughed. "True. But still–" Someone pounded on the door, giving them a warning for lights out. Rowan looked hesitantly down at Nora on her bed. "Do you . . . want to sleep here with me tonight?"
Nora groaned in annoyance at the loud bang that came from the door. The timing is more infuriating than usual tonight. She craned her neck and looked up at Rowan, surprised by the offer. "Are you sure? I don't want you to feel like you have to offer."
Rowan shrugged. “You don’t have to. But I wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t want you to. But if you don’t want to it's alright.”
Nora rolled over onto her side. "I want to." As if to prove her point, she wrapped her arms around Rowan's waist and pulled her down next to her.
Rowan laughed softly. “Okay then.” She leaned down to kiss Nora. “Just a second though.” After gently prying Nora’s arms off of her, she stood up and took off her shirt, then layer down on her bed just as the lights went off. She layed her arm down so Nora could use her arm and shoulder as a pillow.
Nora was completely unmotivated to get up and let alone change clothes so she just laid out on the bed. Her taller height makes it awkward for her to use Rowan's arm as a pillow. The position caused her feet to stick off of the bed. "Let's switch positions."
Rowan laughed softly. “Well, our nicknames have to be accurate.” She moved so that she was laying on Nora’s arm. “Better Top?”
"Our worlds would be turned upside down if they weren't accurate." Nora laughed and switched positions eagerly. "Much better, Bottom."
Rowan craned her neck to kiss Nora briefly. “Goodnight.” Nora smelled good even after a long day and being so close to her was nice.
Nora smiled at the kiss, now completely relaxed. "Goodnight, Rowan." She bent her head to nuzzle her cheek before she closed her eyes.
Rowan fell asleep quickly nestled into Nora. She decided she wanted to fall asleep like this every night.
A week later it was Rowan’s turn to have a bad day. She woke up with next morning before Nora with her head on Nora’s chest. She got up carefully, trying not to wake her. After the day she had yesterday, she really needed to go to the gym. She wrapped her hands in a special cloth and went to town on a punching bag.
