Cas hummed contentedly to himself as they walked, letting Sorin lead the way to the restaurant. "Ooh! I know this place! They used to give me scraps when I lived on the streets!"
Sorin stopped for a moment then continued make his way inside the restaurant. "Did… did they now?" The image of it could be enough to shatter his heart to pieces.
"Mhmm!" Cas walked in with Sorin, seeming cheerful. It seemed like being fed scraps was almost a highlight in his life before he'd met Sorin. "It'll be weird to have a full meal here."
He had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, they had fed him, at least, but on the other hand… How hard was it for them to give him a full meal? Sorin walked up to the hostess, asking for a table for two.
They were seated immediately, as it wasn't very busy. Cas swung his legs under his chair as he looked around. "It's really pretty in here… I've never actually been inside."
He wasn't wrong. Sorin did find the place aesthetically pleasing with it's dim lighting and glass ceiling and walls covered in rose vines. Sorin handed him a menu. "Order anything you'd like."
"Really?" Cas looked down at the menu. "Oh, wait. I can't read." He said simply, humming.
Right. Sorin had forgotten to give him anymore lessons after the whole Berenice thing. "And we will work on that," he said and began to read him the items on the menu.
"The fish one! Uh… pictures…" Cas pointed to the salmon, purring.
He glanced as he saw someone– a waiter approach them. "And a drink? What do you want to drink, Cas?"
"Uh… just water is probably fine?" Cas kept looking at the pictures on the menu.
Sorin nodded and ignored the waiter that had been patiently waiting for them. "Are you sure?"
"Mhmm." Cas gave his menu to Sorin.
Sorin told the waiter Cas's order first before he told his– a simple chicken salad and raspberry lemonade. He handed him the menus and watched him go, turning to Cas once more.
Cas was watching the fish tank intently, a low, rolling meow escaping his lips.
The few people seating near them looked over curiously. Sorin glanced at where he was looking and shook his head. "No, Cas."
Cas glanced over at Sorin briefly. "But…"
"No. You're getting fish already." He reached over across the table and held his hand. "Besides, causing a scene here to get those fish wouldn't be the best idea."
Cas sighed, trying his best to just focus on Sorin. "Can't I just like, look at them? I can't get into that kind of fancy tank anyways.
"Yeah, alright." The waiter set their drinks down and Sorin muttered a 'thank you' before he left.
Cas got up and sat by the fish tank, his eyes flicking between the colorful fish as they darted around in the water.
Sorin watched him from a distance, trusting he wouldn't try anything out of the ordinary.
Cas put his hand up on the glass a couple times, meowing, but he never attempted to break the tank.
The few humans murmured among themselves as they watched Cas. Sorin ran over to him, ignoring all the stares, and carried him over back to their table.
Cas's tail and ears were visible, which at least explained his strange behavior to the strangers. He let Sorin drag him away and sat quietly at the table.
"Cas, I thought I said 'no'." He took a sip of his lemonade and set it down.
"I didn't do anything…" Cas huffed. "Never tried to break the tank…"
"I'm not risking it…" he crossed his arms over his chest. "Knowing you, you could've broken it by accident."
"I…" Cas hesitated before looking down, embarrassed. "That's fair…"
