Zero cringed. The stranger was right, he didn't even know where to start. Let alone what kind of questions to ask. "Watching everyone? I'm assuming you might know what we're looking for then?" His eyes flickered around, trying to find the princess. If they wanted answers. Maybe it would be good to ask together.
Aurelie snorted. “I’m observant, not a mind reader,” she replied, a smirk playing across her lips. “I’ll help you…for a price. That is, if you can let me know what or who it is that you’re looking for.” She raised her eyebrows expectantly.
"I'm helping a, friend to find something out of a fairytale." Zero pulled a silver coin from his pocket and placed it on the table, sliding it across the table. He needed to save his coins, but the information could be worth it. Or so he hoped. "Magic knights ring a bell?"
“Magic knights? I’ve heard of them,” Aurelie said smoothly, though her it felt like her heart had skipped a beat. He was looking for her? Well, she wasn’t going to say anything until she was sure of the twosome’s intentions, but she didn’t want to just end the conversation, either. “I can help you find them, if you would like. But they’re not really a package deal, exactly.”
Zero was shocked to say the less, But he made his fetuses stay blank. At least as blank as he could keep them. To throw a wrench into the kings plans. Mess them up and take his revenge. Suddenly he was glad to have run into the princess. Even if at first he hadn't been. "One is better then none."
Aurelie smirked. “Perfect. Now get your friend over here so you can stop looking so horribly conspicuous and we can come up with some semblance of a plan,” she responded. “If you want information, I would like some as well. I do like to know who I’m working with, after all.” She neglected to mention that she was leaving out a very important piece of information. If he was trustworthy, she would tell him soon enough.
Ren smiled when she took his hand, a weird warm feeling swelling in his chest. “I’m excited,” He said with a smile, before taking a bite of the bread himself. “Oh my gosh this is delicious!” Ren exclaimed, quickly taking another bite. “Mmmmhmmm….” He hummed happily, savoring each bite.
Fay walked towards the sound of water. The smell of salt filled the air, and the breeze got cooler the closer they got. Which made Fay grateful for the warmth of the bread. As they got closer she realized that a crowd of people were gathered around a large and fancy ship. "Must be someone important. Wanna go see?"
“Of course,” Ren smiled, really only glad to be around Princess Freya as they walked closer. As they got closer to the crowd, Prince Ren lowered his voice and asked, “You don’t think many people will recognize us as royalty, do you?” It wouldn’t be very good for them, considering they had snuck out of the palace, to be caught at the port with tons of townsfolk.
Emerald had ended up sitting next to yet another burly man, yet this one probably had a few more drinks than the last. “Magical knights aren’t -hic- real, sweetie. You should -hic- shouldn’t waste your time on them, you should -hic- come home with me, and I can show you -hic- something to spend your time on,” The man let out a booming laugh and Emerald quickly began to get up. He clearly couldn’t help her either. She nimbly dodged the man’s hand reaching for her waist as she got away, ignoring his jeers at her. Emerald was used to it by now, since she had been to many taverns before this.
Her eyes searched around for Zero again, and she saw him talking to a female across the tavern. She weaved her way over to him, planning on telling him this place seemed to be a dud.
Zero nodded his head. Whatever it took. Well almost anything. If this ended up being a scam he'd have no one else to blame but himself- and maybe the princess if he was angry enough.
Zero stood, and looked around for the princess. He wasn't sure if she was walking towards them or not, so he waved a hand. Signalling for her that he possibly fond someone with the information they needed.
Emerald saw his hand and slowly -cautiously- walked over. She eyed the stranger, making sure to keep her hood over her head so none of her features could be seen. “Hello?” She asked, her voice soft compared to the volume of the tavern.
“Hello,” Aurelie responded. “It seems you and your boyfriend want to know about the three knights. I’d love to help you out, but first I need a bit of money and a bit of information.” She rested her chin on her hand. “Do we have a deal?”
Emerald blinked at her. “I- We are not together,” She said firmly, crossing her arms over her chest. Heavens, how long had it been since she’d even thought of having a relationship with someone? She certainly wasn’t going to start now. Emerald turned her thoughts back to the matter at hand, frowning, “Why do you need money?” Even if this person had a bit of information… she doubted it would be much and Emerald needed to conserve the coins she had.
Zero simply rolled his eyes. The last thing he wanted was to be with someone of the royal blood line. Actually working with one wasn't on his list either. But here he was, trying to find something out of a fairytale with the princess. "And what kind of information?" He added on to Emeralds question.
“Okay, don’t get your knickers in a twist,” Aurelie teased with a smirk. “I don’t need a lot of money, but a couple of coins go a long way. You see, I’m sort of a wanderer, so I don’t have a lot in the way in of money. And I don’t need to know everything about you, just your names. I do want to know who I’m working with.”
Emerald clenched her jaw, “And how much value does the information you’ll give us have? I don’t want to give my money to you for a vague description that may or may not be correct.” And she most certainly would not be giving her name, at least her real one. Not to a stranger, not if she could help it.
“A vague description?” Aurelie laughed. “Who do you associate with? They must not be very good, if that’s what you’re used to. I can take you to one of the knights myself.” The reason she was asking for money was twofold: to make sure these people were actually invested in finding the knights (not just fans of the tale or conspiracy theorists) and because she did actually need it.
"How about we give you your money, after, we decide if this information is good enough." Zero didn't expect the stranger to take that offer, but if this all was just a scam. "As for our names," he looked to the princess, "mines Zero." Its not like anyone would know him. It was Emerald he was concerned about.
Aurelie thought for a moment. If she said no, they might just think it was a scam, but if she said yes then they might be angry for her for not just telling them and not give her the money. She decided to accept Zero’s offer. She had to find a way to stall telling them until she was certain she could trust them, but money was less important than that in the long run, she decided. “I suppose that will work,” she agreed. “My name is Aurelie.” She glanced at the woman now, waiting for her introduction.
Emerald glanced to Zero, then looked at Aurelie, biting her tongue. Think think think think think- “My name is Ruby,” She lied, keeping her face blank. It would do for now, because she couldn’t possibly let the stranger know her true identity.
Aurelie raised an eyebrow at the amount of time it took the girl to give her a name, but decided not to dwell on it. But she noted that the girl clearly didn’t trust her (not a bad choice on her part, but annoying nonetheless). “Okay then, I guess you will want to get out of here,” Aurelie replied. “Lots of listening ears and loose mouths, you know.”
“Of course. I’d prefer a place less crowded as well,” Emerald nodded in affirmation. “Where would you suggest?” Emerald asked, making sure her hood still covered her face and hair.
“Hmm, I think that there’s a place we can talk nearby,” Aurelie responded, ideas flashing through her mind. “I know someone who owes me a favor.” She hoped that she didn’t sound too shady, but she didn’t want to give anything away or admit that she didn’t have a house to go back to.
(I'm sorry I'm really bad at parts where more then 2 people are interacting. So just, pretend Zero is going along with everything. And if someone asks him a question or something I'll pop in. ^^)
“Alright then, you lead the way,” Emerald said with another nod. Here she was, being led to another place unknown. But Zero had been true to his words and hadn’t led her to a trap, and Emerald hoped Aurelie was true to her word too. She glanced at Zero. Hopefully he’d back her up if something went down hill. Hopefully.
Aurelie got out of the booth, standing for a moment to get to her bearings before walking out of the tavern, hoping that Zero and Ruby were following. She was still suspicious that the latter had lied about her name, but quickly changed the pattern of thoughts to where her friend’s place was located. She walked confidently (far more confidently than she felt) through town and down a few alleys before heading to the outskirts of town. Soon enough, she stopped in front of a quaint house next to several also-quaint houses. “Here it is,” she told the others, hoping that Travis hadn’t forgotten that he owed her. “Just give me a moment to go inside and talk to him on my own before you come in, if you wouldn’t mind.” She didn’t want them to overhear anything about her being a knight, since she figured it was better to tell them herself.
Emerald followed Aurelie through town, careful to avoid people. Once they stopped in front of a small house. Emerald nodded to Aurelie, not feeling like saying any more then necessary. She was just glad to get away from everyone and the smell of alcohol.
Aurelie left the two outside of the house as she walked up and knocked on the front door. A slight man who looked to be in his mid-twenties opened the door and Aurelie shot a glance at the others before walking inside and shutting the door. After a few minutes of persuading Travis to let them use his house, he finally gave in. He was a tad stubborn, but nearly as much as Aurelie was, and he let her have two hours with them in his house while he went to the tavern. Once he was back, Aurelie would have to leave.
The front door opened again, and Travis walked out. Aurelie poked her head out and waved the two in. “He said we can use his house for two hours,” Aurelie informed them.
"Nah, I think we should be good." Fay stood on her tippy toes to see who could be leaving such an exquisite boat. First came a couple maids, then followed behind a butler. But it was until the guards came out the she knew this was a person of high status. Then walked out a gorgeous boy, who's eyes were ice blue, and his hair was a silver color. Standing with confidence he smiled and waved to the crowd. "Wow," Fay couldn't take her eyes off him. He looked so much different than anyone she has ever seen before. "Do you know who that is?"
