"I know what a stove is!" She said proudly, and pointed to the stove. "That's it, right?"
"I know what a stove is!" She said proudly, and pointed to the stove. "That's it, right?"
”Yep. That's it. Now I don't know how fireproof or heat resistant you are, but I would recommend not touching it when it's on.” Kat warned heating up the pan. ”How well cooked do you like your meat?”
She shrugged. "I can eat things raw or burnt, so however you make it should be better than how I eat it."
Kat raised a brow before nodding. Strong stomach. ”Well, you don't have to worry about me burning the food. I personally prefer it medium rare but I can make your’s more on the rare side if you’d like.”
"Alright!" She watched what Kat did with an intense stare
Veleda’s stare was a bit unnerving, almost making Kat feel like a dangerous animal was debating whether or not to eat her. She chose to try and ignore it, in favor of making the best burgers possible for her new roommate. Cutting up the onion, tomatoes and tearing the lettuce and keeping an eye on the meat. ”Vel, can you grab me a couple of plates? They're in that cabinet.” She pointed to the correct one.
Veleda smiled at her little nickname. Vel. She liked the way it was so quick and how it rolled off the tongue. She obeyed Kat (i just realized that's my sister-in-law's name) and set down two plates on the empty space next to her.
(lol)
”Thanks.” Kat nodded, quickly grabbing a couple of buns. ”Yours is done cooking. Mine just needs an other minute.” She said placing Vel’s burger on one of the plates.
Veleda smelled the burger. Odd. She didn't mind the smell, she just wasn't used to it. She looked at Kat and grinned. "It looks yummy!"
Kat smiled taking her own burger off. ”Wait till you try it. First, you get to pick what you want on it.”
Veleda arched an eyebrow. "You mean those things you were cutting up earlier?" She inspected said items and picked up a single shred of lettuce. "I'll take some leafy greens, why not?"
”Yep. Anything you want. I usually do what’s called ”the works”. It's pretty much one or two pieces of everything.” Kat explained. ”Oh, and there’s ketchup and pickles in the fridge.”
"Catch up?" She arched an eyebrow at Kat, picking up more pieces and setting them on her burger. "What is that?"
Kat tried not to laugh. ”Ketchup is basically a sauce made out of tomatoes. I’ll get it.” She walked over to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of it as well as the pickles… And a thing of mustard her boyfriend bought. ”You can try these before you add them to your burger. See if you like them first.”
Veleda tasted the ketchup and made a face. "I'll pass."
Kat bit back a chuckle at Vel’s face. ”I guess it's just not for everyone. Personally, I love this.” She smiled as she assembled her own burger, not touching the mustard.
Veleda took a bite out of the pickle, making another face. I guess I have to get used to eating vegetables more often. She ate the entire thing, trying to make herself look like she wasn't that picky. She can eat vegetables and berries, and most dragons are omnivores. But she was like a child and she didn't like the taste of vegetables too much.
Kat couldn't help but laugh this time. ”Vel. If you don't like something you don't have to eat it.” she smiled.
"No. I need to get used to it," She stated firmly, shaking her head. "Besides, it's not that big of a deal." She focused her attention on the burger now, wondering what it would taste like.
”Alright, if you think so.” Kat shrugged, not going to try to argue with a dragon. ”Well, you want anything to drink? You can go ahead and sit down.”
"Some water, if that's ok," Veleda took her plate and sat down. I can't believe she's being so nice. I thought most humans were bad!
”Sure.” Kat said grabbing two glasses and filled them. ”So, tell me a bit about yourself, Vel. Is it ok if I call you that sometimes?” She asked a little nervous.
"Yeah, that's totally fine!" Veleda grinned at her. "I liked it a lot when you said it!" Her eyes sparkled, still honored by the fact that someone gave her a nickname. "As for myself…" She bit her lip and tried to think of something interesting. "I'm a dragon, but you already knew that…" She shrugged. "What do you want to know?"
Kat smiled, sitting with her. ”Oh, you know… The usual stuff people talk about when they first met. Likes and dislikes, maybe a couple of habits you have that are normal for you… Stuff like that.” she explained.
Veleda shrugged. How do I tell her that I don't really have a life? "I mean… I'm fascinated with humans! Or anything that's mortal, really." She sighed and thought about what she didn't like. "I don't like gold. Or seagulls." She pouted. "Seagulls are annoying…. As for my habits, I don't know. Sometimes I need to go outside and turn into a dragon so I don't feel cooped up."
Kat nodded. ”That sounds cool. I'm actually pretty interested in anything mythical.” She raised a questioning brow, ”So does that mean you're technically immortal? If you don't mind me asking; how old are you?”
Veleda tilted her head, trying to come up with a number that was relatively close to her age. "I don't really know… I think I'm over three thousand?" She shrugged. "I don't even remember when my birthday was."
Kat’s eyes widened. ”Wow.” How the heck do you forget your birthday? I know days can run together sometimes but… Three thousand. ”I’m only 28. That probably makes me seem like a child to you, huh?” she had a slight blush at that thought.
(bump)
(sorry! I've been really behind with everything lately. I'm trying to do better though. Again, so sorry!)
Veleda shook her head. "Not really. If anything, you're probably more of an adult than I am. After all, dragons may be immortal but it takes a long time for them to gain wisdom and maturity. Humans can be like that way sooner we can."
