As the Hatter rounded a corner, he shouted. "I'm gonna meet Chernobyl! Chernobyl!" He stopped. "Nonononono, it's Chernabog! That's what they call him!" He skipped happily away.
As the Hatter rounded a corner, he shouted. "I'm gonna meet Chernobyl! Chernobyl!" He stopped. "Nonononono, it's Chernabog! That's what they call him!" He skipped happily away.
Quinn inhaled. "Chernabog…" He muttered. "Not good."
Revan stood there. "Well I believe that's my quota for crazies…"
Quinn frowned. "Bylun…Chernabog…" He murmured to himself, frowning still.
Revan was just confused and didn't understand.
After sitting there trying to read for a few more minutes, Ivory gave up and decided to go see what there was to do around town. She figured it was safe enough if she stayed in the “hero” part of town. As she got nearer to the “villain” area she heard a voice that sounded somewhat familiar. It couldn’t hurt to get a little closer, could it? If she stayed out of sight, whoever it was would never know she was there.
As she approached the person, she realized it was in fact someone she knew, or least knew of. “Hank?” she asked, confused. She was mostly sure that was his name.
"It's Ivory, Isn't it?" Tim Pan came out from behind a dumpster, gripping Hank by the collar. "I found him saying something about churning a bog, you know anything about that?" He shook Hank. "He cut his wrist, I'm getting him checked out for it."
“Um, nope! Sounds kinda sketchy to me,” she replied. “You’re Tim, right?” Churning a bog? What is that supposed to mean? she wondered internally.
"That's me!" Tim smiled.
Hank stood up and grabbed Tim's shoulders. "He's coming!"
"Yup, sure he is. Now c'mon!" Tim was still smiling as he pulled Hank along by the collar. "Let's get you a doctor."
“Who’s coming?” Ivory asked, arching a pale eyebrow. She looked at Tim as if he could explain what was going on.
"Who?" Tim looked around. "I have no clue."
“Is Hank okay?” she asked Tim. “Or is he always like this?”
"I think He's gotten worse since last night." Tim looked down at Hank. "Oh! I'm sorry, but he really needs to get to a doctor, I'll see you at the bar tonight. Calm down Hank! You're going to be fine!"
I forgot about that, Ivory realized. Crap. “Do you think we could meet at the ice cream place instead?” she asked quickly, not wanting to slow them down.
Quinn straightened, and went after Hank. He came around a corner, and spotted Tim, Hank, and Ivory. He walked over to them.
"Ice cream? Absolutely!" Tim walked out to the road. "Six, right?"
Quinn hesitated. "Tim." He called. "Has Hank said anything about Chernabog?" He asked. For once, the young prince of hearts looked perfectly serious, no trace of his usual smirk.
“Yeah, six is good, and if you find a way to let Eris know that would help immensely!” she called. Then Ivory noticed Quinn and blushed, recalling the events of the past night. She realized that she looked as innocent as ever in her Mary Janes and pastel clothes, but she couldn’t do anything about that now.
Wait, Chernabog? Is that what Hank was talking about? That can’t be good! she thought.
"Something like that." Tim hardly stopped to nod. "I'd love to stay and talk, but he's bleeding." He gestured to the barely awake Hatter. "I'll talk to you later."
Quinn sighed, taking his hat off and raking a hand through his hair. "Okay." He replied to Tim, thinking.
Ivory watched them walk off. She really hoped that Hank was just drunk or something and that the whole Chernabog thing was just a booze-induced fantasy. Because if somehow Hank was right…then that could be catastrophic. Her mind raced with the possibilities. Either way, Hank was bleeding, so that was obviously bad.
Quinn put his hat back on, muttering curses under his breath.
Tim tugged Hank's collar "C'mon Hank." He tugged Hank along. "You guys know where the nearest hospital is?" Tim asked
“Yeah, actually, do you need help?” Ivory replied, looking worried as she walked over to them.
Quinn came over. "Yeah, I know the way." He replied. "How can I help?"
Tim pulled Hank over his shoulder. "Could one of you take his other arm?"
“I’ve got it,” Ivory said, and quickly went to Hank’s side to help him.
Quinn sighed. "Ivory, I can get that if you want…" He trailed off, thinking. "The hospital is this way." He pointed.
"Thank you." Tim started his walk to the hospital.
