Lucifer stuck his head out of the water, smiling fondly at Gabe. He was so kind and genuine. It felt so good just to be around Gabe. And before Lucifer knew it, he was drifting closer to Gabe yet again, close enough that he could feel the warmth of Gabe’s breath.
As soon as Lucifer got close, Gabe closed the distance and kissed him again, letting his eyes slip closed quickly. He felt peaceful.
Lucifer kissed him back, like a smooth harmony. His hands gently found Gabe’s waist, and he held him close. It felt strange, to like someone like this. To truly like someone. Lucifer found that he was growing more and more fond of the feeling.
Gabe found it very difficult to think of anything else right now - not at all that he was trying. The thoughts of Abby and all the negativity she brought with her were gone now.
Lucifer slowly, hesitantly, pulled away. He smiled sadly, glancing back at the opening to the cave, “I think I’m going to have to get back now.” He said softly, “Or else my people might end up revolting,” Lucifer let out a light laugh at that, even though it wasn’t very far from what could actually happen if he didn’t go back to keep hell’s power source active.
Gabe smiled some, nodding. "That's okay. Maybe we could come back sometime."
“Yeah, we’ll definitely have to do that,” Lucifer told him, slowly forcing himself to step away and walk back up to shore. He boxers clung to his skin, and his muscles back became exposed again as he walked onto the sand and picked up his clothing.
Gabe blushed a little bit, quickly putting his own clothes back on and looking back at Lucifer, waiting for him.
Lucifer slipped on his clothes and took a deep breath and one last look at the ceiling of star-like glowwyrms before he forced himself to crawl out of his cave and begin to head back to the palace.
Gabe walked beside him, tugging out knots in his curls as they walked. His heart was beating very fast for some reason he couldn't identify.
(Do we want to timeskip for when they arrive at the palace?)
((To answer your question, yes, and second I'm very sorry I haven't been on for a week or so, I had some issues.))
(That’s okay, irl matters more than an rp :)
Lucifer walked into the palace with a soft smile gracing his lips as he held the door open for Gabe. “I’ll walk you to your room, if you want?” Lucifer offered.
((I mean this one's pretty good))
"Yeah." Gabe smiled, walking through the doorway and waiting for Lucifer. "That'd be great."
Lucifer walked to one of the hallways that led to the stairs, but when he got to the staircase he froze. Fear shocked through him as the sight of her, and his mind was desperately grabbing at straws to plot an excuse for Gabe’s presence.
Standing there, by the staircase, was a woman. White, almost glowing skin, with paper white hair. She had bright ruby lips that wore a devious smile and yellow eyes that locked on to Lucifer. She was wearing a short dress, also pure white. Lucifer swallowed, praying Gave wouldn’t speak.
“Ooo, Satan, it’s been too long,” She purred, looking him up and down. Then glancing at Gabe. “Who’s he?”
Lucifer kept his expression stony, hoping Gabe would forgive him as he said apathetically, “Just another one of my whores. What do you want Angelica?”
“So I need an excuse to come visit you now, hmm?” Angelica raised her eyebrows, a smile still on her lips.
Gabe pressed his lips together at the name, giving Angelica a good look before glancing back to Lucifer again. He was pretty sure he was simply covering up his presence, but what if he wasn't? What if this was what the other demons had warned him about? Also…who was this woman? Someone like Alex, perhaps.
“I know you only come down here when you want something,” Lucifer told her coldly, needing to focus to keep himself from freaking out.
“I suppose you’re right,” Angelica leaned against the railing to the staircase, but he smile turned cold, “You’ve been slacking quite a bit lately, Satan. I’m not the only one mad, the demons of hell are getting quite restless,” Angelica pointed out, beginning to walk closer. Lucifer tensed. “And you know who pays for it, love,” She added, a cruel smile. Lucifer gritted his teeth.
Love? Gabe let out a small breath, barely even audible, let alone noticeable. Of course. The demons had been right. And then he got that feeling - a mix of his heart crumpling again like a piece of paper, and the tidal wave of rage that landed on himself. For fooling himself into thinking any of this was real. Like Abby. Again and again, he fell for it, but it was never real. He should've known better.
“I’ll make sure to get to it tonight,” Lucifer glared at her, but she only laughed.
“I might as well come with you to make sure it gets done,” Angelica turned and walked back to the stairs, then walked down into the ‘basement’.
Lucifer knew she could still hear, so he only gave Gabe a look filled with turmoil as he said, “We’re off for tonight, I have business to attend to.” Then Lucifer forced himself to turn and walk down the stairs after Angelica.
Gabe stood for a moment, the sea of emotions still churning violently in his heart as he waited until Lucifer got down the stairs. He couldn't break down yet. He had to get to his room first.
Gabe's breakdowns weren't as emotional and full of tears as some people's - they were more of staring at the floor and refusing to speak for fear his voice would crack. And that's what he did when he got to his room - shut the door behind him and sit on his bed, stare at the floor and feel his heart crash into a pile of rubble again.
(Timeskip to the next day?)
Lucifer looked at the time, then dragged himself up the stairs to the first floor. He had been down there all night, and exhaustion was tearing at him so badly he barely watched where he was going. Angelica had left him there probably at midnight, she got the luxury to be sleeping in a comfortable bed somewhere in the palace. Lucifer hoped it wasn’t his.
Gabe's eyes blinked open, and he quickly sat up, regretting it almost immediately. His chest and back hurt enormously - both from sleeping the wrong way and emotions, probably. He ran a hand through his curls, exhaling softly.
Lucifer quickly decided, after what happened last night, Gabe needed to get out of the palace. Away from Angelica— away from him. It’d be safer that way. He slowly made his way to Gabe’s room, gently knocking on the door. He hoped he didn’t look as bad as he felt.
Gabe looked up, moving to get up for a moment before pausing. He didn't know who it was. It could be Lucifer, and he knew that if he saw Lucifer again, he would have another breakdown. But he wanted to see him again, nevertheless, for some strange reason. Like he always would want to see Abby after she'd made him collapse.
“Gabe? Angelica didn’t bother you, did she?” Lucifer asked softly, worry instantly sinking in him. And anger, if Angelica truly did bother him. Or worse, hurt him… Lucifer began tapping his foot anxiously, growing more and more concerned every second.
Gabe looked up to the door, resting his elbows on his knees. He…he would at least answer. He wanted to, and it was okay. Enough.
"No."
“Oh thank goodness,” Lucifer leaned against the door, relief washing over him. A small, relieved smile appeared on his face and he asked, “Can I come in?”
Gabe was silent for a couple of seconds, debating whether this was a good idea. His mind told him that Lucifer needed to go away, and that he could figure things out on his own like he normally did whenever Abby left. But he knew he wanted to see Lucifer, and badly.
"Yes," He replied, his voice still as deadpan as it was before.
