"Weeeeell they don't say it exactly like that. More of it's heavily insinuated by the breasts spilling out of their dresses, and the way they behave." Soren replied with a shrug.
"Weeeeell they don't say it exactly like that. More of it's heavily insinuated by the breasts spilling out of their dresses, and the way they behave." Soren replied with a shrug.
Her entire face scrunched up at that, which was admittedly a kind of funny expression. “That has to be incredibly awkward.” She said, sticking her tongue out slightly.
"You have no idea. I may be king, but I am still a man." Soren replied, then frowned. "That was…probably entirely the wrong thing to say. I'm sorry. The…medication makes me behave weird sometimes." He shrugged.
"Soren, you say that like I've never had breasts shoved in my face before." Celeste teased, flashing him a lighthearted and playful smile to show he was fine, and that he shouldn't worry. It wasn't the most common occurrence, even just being flirted with, but it was also rare she ever felt normal enough to pursue anything at all. And even then, it was never anything serious, as neither her nor any partner of hers had any interest in anything more than a one-night stand of sorts.
He raised his eyebrows. "I wasn't aware you were a lesbian." He replied. He smiled lightly, shaking his head slightly. He didn't mind that, it was just an interesting thing to know.
"I'm not." Celeste said simply, shifting to get a bit more comfortable on the ground, inadvertently moving a bit closer to Soren in the process, until she was sitting cross-legged on the ground. "I've found myself attracted to women, to men, and to anything inbetween or otherwise." The one thing I'm lacking is the ability to commit and open up.
Soren nodded. "Ah, I see." He replied with a small smile. He stretched, then yawned softly, laying down and looking at the ceiling. "I should probably head to bed…" He remarked softly, sitting up again. "As should you." He hesitated for a moment. "Thank you for your help, Celeste." He added.
"Of course." Celeste replied easily, looking and sounding like she meant it. And she did. She unfolded her legs, standing and offering a hand to help Soren up, smiling down at him. "I can't really promise sleep on my end, but I hope you can. If you need any…assistance with falling asleep, I would be glad to help."
He took her hand to pull himself up, then let go. "Er…what kind of assistance are you offering, exactly?" He questioned with a soft chuckle. "Because most people who offer to "help me sleep", aren't actually going to help me sleep." He looked down at her with a raised eyebrow.
She blinked once, her cheeks turning red at a rapid pace as she realized what he meant. "No! I didn't-not like that, no, I meant-witchy things? Magic. My magic. I make people sleep?" She stuttered, shaking her head and growing slightly flustered at that. "You-all it would take is me touching you-like, your forehead, nowhere else, and then you could sleep."
Soren laughed softly. "I was just teasing, i knew what you meant." He said, smiling. He started walking back towards his wing of the castle slowly. "I figured it would have something to do with your magic. Like what you used in the throne room." He said.
Celeste followed after him, her short legs making catching up to him take just a bit of effort, despite his slower pace. "You-damn you." She huffed, her face turning even redder. Apparently, she was annoyed and still flustered enough not to realize she'd just sworn at the King. "You made me-ugh. At least I know you weren't serious." She mumbled, shaking her head.
Soren looked at her and chuckled. "Don't worry, I've been damned by many people." He replied with a slight smirk, looking back at her and stopping to let her catch up. "I'm sorry. I'm not being a gentleman." He offered her his arm.
“You weren’t being a gentleman with that joke, either.” Celeste huffed, her lip hitting out slightly in an kind of adorable pout. She accepted his arm anyway, still pointedly looking away from him.
He sighed. "I know. I'm sorry." He started walking again, facing forward. He sighed softly, raking a hand through his hair. "It was inappropriate of me to say that." It's the medication. He knew that. The medicine that Lena gave him always messed with his head a bit.
She huffed, staying quiet as she let the redness in her cheeks fade somewhat. Eventually, she did speak, giving Soren's arm a small squeeze. "You don't have to apologize. It just…caught me off guard. I can't remember the last time someone joked with me like that."
Soren nodded. "Ah. As king…I don't get the chance to often. So." He shrugged slightly. "It was still inappropriate of me, and i should not have spoken or behaved that way. It was rude and improper on my part, and clearly made you uncomfortable."
“Not uncomfortable.” Celeste murmured, shaking her head. “Just flustered. Don’t worry.” She looked up at him, the corner of her mouth turning up in a half smile. “I’m happy you feel like you can be that casual around me, even if it is because of the medication.”
Soren nodded. "It's the medication. I probably would tell just about anyone just about anything because of it." He shook his head. "I dont know what the hell Lena puts in there, but…" He sighed softly. "I'm probably going to sleep for twelve hours because of it."
“Good. That means you’ll get the sleep you need.” Celeste said, looking very much like she’d won something, though what she’d won wasn’t too clear. “You’ll tell me anything, huh?” There was that scheming glint in her odd eyes. Not anything bad, more a playful scheming.
Soren sighed. "No…well…maybe." he shrugged. "Depends on what you ask, and…" he was interrupted by a yawn, then continued, "How coherent I am when you ask it." he blinked, shaking his head slightly. He looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "Why, what are you planning on asking me?"
“Just something I’ve always been curious about, wherever I go.” Celeste said, looking off to the side for a moment. “Nothing bad. I’m just curious about your first impression of me. To see if it's anything like how I view myself.”
"First impression…" He hummed for a moment. "What exactly do you mean by that? Because there are s few different instances that could be called first impressions." He glanced at her.
Celeste’s tongue poked out as she thought that over, about what she wanted the answer to. “The gardens. I feel like the throne room wasn’t the best headspace for either of us. You were angry and preoccupied and dealing with my King. So… the gardens.”
Soren chuckled softly, and nodded. "Alright." He thought for a moment. "I thought you seemed like a good sort of person. A little strange, maybe." Also sort of cute, but. I'm not sharing that part. "I thought it was interesting how you knew the names of so many of the plants."
“So all in all, kind of witchy.” Celeste huffed a laugh, shaking her head. Her hair was starting to fall out of the updo she’d put it in with Sue’s help, strands of purple feathering out and catching the light in the halls. “I’m glad I don’t come across as anything bad, at least. I can work with strange.”
Soren chuckled, and nodded. "Yes, kind of witchy." He yawned again. They were nearly there by now. He wondered how Mikhail was doing. I'll check on him in the morning. He thought.
Celeste looked up as Soren yawned, smiling softly. “We’re almost there? I expect you to get some sleep tonight. You said the medication should help with that?”
Soren nodded. "Mhm." He replied, leading her up to the hallway that connected their two rooms. He let go of her outside her own door. "Good night. If you need me, you know where to find me." He gave her a small bow, and headed back to his room.
“Blessed dreams, Soren.” Celeste called after him, her hand on the doorhandle. Her eyes crinkled slightly at the corner with her smile, the words carrying the power of a blessing. With those as parting words, she slipped into her rooms, with absolutely no intention of sleeping despite the bags under her eyes.
