"Hey Chaser. I'd love to help you, what's the problem?" She could hear a pen clicking over the phone as he got ready to start writing.

@WriteOutofTime

"There's a person here, he's injured, several lacerations all over his body, a stab wound to the right thigh, upper um, lateral. Laceration to the forehead. He's lost a lot of blood and his heart rate is slowing."

Deleted user

"Mhm. Alright, bring him in as soon as possible and try to stay calm. Can you tell me what you have done so far with him?" She could hear the scribbling of the pen. "Also, is he a super or is he a normal? Not that it depends, I just know some supers act up when they are injured and we need to get him to a proper unit if he is."

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir frowned at that. "I stitched up the wound on his thigh, and I bandaged everything else. Listen, he's a super but no one else can be in the room with him besides you and me. He was attacked in civilian wear, so make sure to station security outside the room."

"Mmmkay… come in as soon as you can, then. I'll take care of him. I'll just heal him up and keep him here for a bit. And of course I'll station security, I do that for everyone who was attacked." Kramer's pen clicked. "Anything else?"

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir sucked in the corner of her mouth. She wasn't sold on letting the doctor keep him for any extended amount of time, but otherwise, she trusted him. "That's all. I'll be there in less than five minutes." She hung up without waiting for a reply. She gently lifted James in her arms, wincing at his weight, and headed to the window. She slipped on her mask, not bothering to change clothes, and leapt out of the window. She teleported faster and at greater distances than usual, knowing full well that it would sap her energy to a dangerously low level.

James was limp and he had passed out while she was on the phone. Soon she made it to the hospital, where James still didn't wake up, but Kramer and a couple nurses were waiting. He took James gently and set him on a bed, where he was rolled away.
"Would you like to come back with us and you can explain what happened?" He invited her to come back with a wave of his hand.

Kramer nodded, following her and matching her pace. "So will your apartment need cleaning? I have a few people here who can help with that while he's here." They went into a room, and Kramer swiftly detached the knife from James' side and started healing the wound his palm pressed against it and glowing a faint gold.

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir stood and watched with a steely expression on her face. "No," she decided. "I've had enough intrusions in my apartment for the day."

Kramer glanced up at her over his glasses, his eyebrows raised. "I know you're used to being this strong, noble woman, but you have to accept help. You could get caught with a whole buncha blood in your apartment because you didn't clean it right."

@WriteOutofTime

"I don't have to do anything," she said with an eyeroll. "I'm no stranger to cleaning blood out of my apartment." She still had a body in there, along with an unconscious hero. She wasn't on the side of the law right now, so she couldn't run the risk of letting anyone else in.

"Mmm so you don't trust me to stay quiet about anything? I think I run a very secure place, here, Chaser. You can trust me. But I suppose if you don't want help…" He inhaled and shook his head, continuing the healing of the other wounds, making them neat scabs instead.

Deleted user

"Good. I want to help you, Chaser. You're one of my first clients. Ever. I'll send out some people and get them to clean up the mess for you, then I'll get Kila to wipe their memory of it, how about that?"

Deleted user

"I've broken it repeatedly before I picked up this job," He answered one-hundred percent truthfully as he wiped his hands off.

Deleted user

"I will do." He flicked his hand at one of the nurses and she hurried off. He sighed and looked down at James. "He's going to need blood. And you look like you need rest. You surely didn't teleport here the whole way?"

Deleted user

"Mmmm well he can go home when my crew's finished cleaning. Make sure he doesn't pick at the scabs. And he probably won't wake up until a while."

Deleted user

"You don't," Kramer responded gently, smiling. "I'll handle it all. You just make sure you care for him and protect him in the future." He waved out his nurses. "He's gonna need some blood, so we'll set him up with that and leave you two."

Kramer nodded and looked down at James. "He has an A negative blood right? That's what his thing said. Get A-Neg and make it snappy," He reported to his nurse and trotted out.

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir stood by James' bedside. For the moment before the nurse returned, they were alone. She let some of the anguish she was feeling appear on her face. "This is all my fault," she mumbled. "Fuck. I'm so sorry."

The nurse inserted the IV and started with the blood, leaving. She had entered right after Nyir's apology with a bag of blood and the supplies necessary, and she left as soon as she came in. James' face was set and calm, his eyes shut. He looked like he was sleeping peacefully.

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir yanked off her mask, rubbing her face. She felt so tired she could collapse at any time, but she forced herself to stay upright. She needed to protect him, in case anyone else entered when she had her back turned. She'd let him out of her sight for a literal few minutes, but that had been enough. She hated herself for letting this happen to him.

When she looked back down at him again after rubbing her face and taking a quick break, his eyes were half-open and he was stirring slowly. He groaned faintly and turned his head to look at her when he was her move, smiling a little. He felt really tired and exhausted, but he was glad to see her.
"Hi."

@WriteOutofTime

"Hi," she managed, kneeling by his bed so that they were closer to being eye level. "Listen. I'm so, so sorry that I let this happen to you. I swear on my life that while I'm breathing, no harm will come to you."
