Arvil opened his mouth, but then paused. “Well, true. My mother is definitely nice. Can’t argue with that.”

“Unless you want to go somewhere else,” Arvil shrugged. “Your call.”

“All right,” Arvil hummed, starting the car. “Home it is, then.”

[Time skip: the next Tuesday]

Daisy has gotten a text from arvil letting her know that he was going to visit her at work. Finally. They’d been “together” for so long, and she had visited his work so many times, that it was actually surprising that he hadn’t visited her yet.

So now she was trying to organize her desk, make sure her hair still looked okay, clean her glasses, check her makeup, etc. Anything to look presentable and not like she’d gotten in at six in the morning and had nearly fallen asleep before he intern got everyone’s coffees.

A few more days till the wedding, and Arvil still hadn’t visit her work. Today, he decided it was time. He texted Daisy about it to make sure she wasn’t at a meeting, and when he received a positive response, he was out on the road.

On the way, he grabbed coffee for the both of them, knowing the woman probably hadn’t gotten enough sleep. When he reached her workplace, he stepped inside, eyes looking around trying to find her.

Daisy set the last item into place just as the intern came up and told her that Arvil had arrived. She thanked the young woman with a nod and a smile, then stood up to glance around for her fake fiancé. Upon spotting him, she smiled and waved him over.

Arvil smiled when he saw her, walking over to her in long strides. When he reached her, he held out a cup of coffee.

“I got you coffee, in case you haven’t drunk any,” he shrugged. “Your favorite. Also, you look tired. Everything okay?”

Arvil shrugged, setting both coffee cups on her table. They still had an act to play, so he rested his hands on her waist and tugged her close.

“Well, I’m here now, so I’ll charge you right up,” he said with a wink. “You’re welcome.”

Daisy scoffed, the sound a bit breathy from surprise. She rested her hands on his shoulders and looked up at him with pink cheeks.

“You will definitely keep me on my toes,” she half agreed, half teased with a smile.

Arvil chuckled, resting their foreheads together.

“Of course I will,” he teased back. “So, what’s my darling doing?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

On my toes, indeed… Gosh dang it, Arvil, do you not realize how attractive you are or what you do to me?

“Aside from tired, you mean?” she murmured quietly, trying to hide the breathlessness. “I’m doing well. How about you, nerd?”

Arvil released her waist, smiling. “I’m doing good,” he hummed. “Hey, when’s your lunch break?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy released a silent breath and took a step back when Arvil released her. Her shoulders relaxed a bit, almost imperceptibly.

“Mine is at noon. Why do you ask?” she wondered, tilting her head to the side.

“I was hoping to take you out for lunch,” Arvil explained, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “I don’t want you to starve, now do I?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“I wouldn’t starve, Arvil. I would probably have gone out on my own,” Daisy declared with a roll of her eyes. “Lunch sounds good. Do you want to pick me up?”

Deleted user

“I’ll stay and bother you till lunch is over,” Arvil shrugged. “Bless you with my presence.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy snorted and poked him in the chest. “I’ll still have to work, you know. Just because you’re my fiancé doesn’t mean you get to distract me from my work.”

Arvil snatched her finger and pressed it against his lips, knowing it would fluster her.

“I thought being your fiancé meant exactly that,” he pouted, her finger still in his hold. “Well, we’ll have to redefine ‘fiancé.’”

Daisy’s cheeks burned. Again. She narrowed her eyes at Arvil, knowing what he was trying to do. And knowing that he would know that it was working.

“Stop that. Let me work, you menace. You can find an extra chair and pull it over if you want,” she said, snatching her finger back.

At her burning cheeks, Arvil chuckled, eyes twinkling. His hand remained hovering for a few seconds before he stuffed it back in his pocket again.

“I have a better idea,” his eyes gleamed teasingly. “You can sit on my lap. Won’t that be much better?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy huffed and pushed him away again, pulling her hand back before he could grab it this time.

“Go find a chair, nerd,” she said as she sat back down in her own. “I’ll be working on my latest project.”

Arvil grinned at her, pleased with her reaction.

“All right,” he turned around to find a chair nearby, “Whatever my love says.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy rolled her eyes and went back to focusing on her work. She didn’t notice as Arvil found a chair and sat down near her. Rather, she stared at her computer screen and typed up her report.

At exactly noon, she pushed her chair back from her desk and stood up. Turning around, she looked down at Arvil with a smile.

“Ready?”

Deleted user

She looked so engrossed in her work that she didn’t even look at Arvil. He didn’t mind. He was content with just staring at her as she worked.

Finally, after a few hours, she turned around to face Arvil and he blinked, snapping out of his thoughts.

“Yeah, ready,” he answered. “Pick where you want to go. My treat, obviously.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy hummed in thought, glancing around as she did so. She turned her gaze back to Arvin and chewed on her lip for a second before remembering something he’d said and stopping.

“Chipotle, maybe? We haven’t gone there together,” she suggested with a shrug.

Deleted user

“That’s fine by me,” Arvil replied, noting how she had stopped chewing on her lip immediately. “Come on. How long does your lunch last?”
