Andrea shook her head, "I don't think your crew would like that, and besides, we're just hitching a ride." She rolled her eyes and chuckled at Daso's comment, "That's what you think."
Andrea shook her head, "I don't think your crew would like that, and besides, we're just hitching a ride." She rolled her eyes and chuckled at Daso's comment, "That's what you think."
"Ah yes, unfortunate," the captain sighed. "I do have an idea though. We're getting off in Corrain. I have an old friend there, a captain who doesn't believe in superstitions. Perhaps the two of you would like to join her crew for a while?"
She glanced over at Daso for his answer, her eyes sparkling, "I'm going to say yes to that offer, and you Daso?"
"That sounds incredible!" Daso grinned up at the captain. "Thank you, captain. I wish there was some way I could repay you."
"You've cleaned my entire ship," the captain said, "I'd say that's quite enough, lad."
"Guess we found ourselves the next ship we hitch a ride on." Andrea rocked on her feet and smiled, already imagining where they would explore next.
Daso watched the captain leave, grinning. "Yeah, we have! We're unstoppable. I hope we'll have time to explore Corrain before we join the other crew."
Andrea nodes quickly, "I hope we do as well, it sounds like a beautiful place to visit and explore before we get on the next ship and go to wherever new."
"I wonder what the other captain will be like," he said. "I really like this captain. I hope whoever it is is just as nice."
"I bet they'll be nice, the captain said they'd be nice, and not beliving in any of the superstitions is a plus." She smiled and looked around the ship as they crew dispersed to do whatever, "I'm excited to get to land even just for a day."
"Me too," he said. He was suddenly struck with an idea. So, he'd kind of botched their first romantic moment –bit of an understatement. However, he was determined to absolutely ace their next one. Once they got to land, he'd use some of the money he had left, buy her something, and take her to see the city. The only problem that he could see with his plan was the fact that he had no idea what city it was, or what she'd want. Oh well, he was sure he would figure it out. "We'll have to explore the entire city!"
Andrea nodded, resting against an empty crate while she thought, "If we have time to see the whole city, then I definitely would like too. We have to do something you want to do too, I would feel bad if we spent all of our time exploring." She smiled and glanced over at him, "How many more days until we get to land?"
"We should get there tomorrow evening, I think," he replied. "I hope the food's good. The food on the ship has been…not amazing."
"It's better than nothing, but yes, I can't wait to get some good food," She agreed, wondering what the cook was making tonight, hopefully something good or filling.
"We could go ask what he's making," he suggested. "I've helped him cook a couple times. He's a bit rough, but nice."
"I don't think I've ever met the cook, so I'm up for it." She shrugged and smiled, "Let's go see who it is."
"Great!" Daso led the way down to the kitchen, knocking lightly on the door before barging in. The kitchen was less of a kitchen and more of an extremely cluttered closet. There were lots of barrels and utensils and pots and pans. The cook was hunched over a bucket, peeling potatoes. He paused when he saw the two enter. "Daso, there you are!" he nearly shouted, chucking a potato in his direction. "Get yer ass over here and peel these potatoes."
Daso grimaced. "Andrea, meet the cook. Cook, meet Andrea."
Andrea couldn't help but laugh and nod her head in greeting to the cook. She figured she was going to get roped into peeling potatoes as well, but she didn't care, it wasn't a hard job as long as she didn't cut her finger open while doing so.
"Andrea," the cook repeated. "Oh, the girl you were too much of a baby to kiss? News travels fast." He offered up a gruff smile to Andrea, waving his knife in a friendly fashion. "Hello there."
She waved back to him and laughed again, "He was too chicken to kiss me, so I had to kiss him." Taking up a spot against the wall, she crossed her arms and smiled, "So, what would happen to be for dinner on this lovely ship tonight?"
Daso blushed, his face heating up. "I didn't know pirates gossiped!" he protested. He grabbed a potato and a knife, sitting beside the cook on a bench. The cook gestured to a barrel. "Have a seat, dear. We're having potato soup, since we're still unfortunately out of any sort of meat."
Andrea sat down on the closest barrel to the two of them and smiled, watching as they peeled potatoes, "Potato soup sounds good to me." There didn't seem to be another knife around so she couldn't help out, but she could keep the two of them company while they worked.
"It's mostly water," Daso said with a glare at the cook. "I like to make it with cheese, but Cook on the other hand–"
"Hey now," the cook said, throwing another potato at Daso's head. "If you think you can make it so much better, be my guest."
She laughed and shook her head as she listened to the two of them, before jokingly saying, "Stop fighting, start peeling potatoes." In her mind she could imagine how she would make her favorite soup, with fresh veggies and even a few bits of meat. Potato soup would have to do for now though.
Daso quieted down, resigning himself to peeling the potatoes. The Cook peeled his potato slowly, still eyeing Andrea. "Where are the two of you from, anyway? Neither of ye have got much of an accent."
"I used to have a hell of an accent but then we traveled to Beait (made up county they're from), and it kinda just…faded." Andrea glanced at the cook and swung her legs absentmindedly.
"I never really picked up any sort of accent or dialect," Daso admitted, "since I never was around many people. Especially not people with accents."
Andrea smiled and looked to the cook, "What about you? Where are you from?" She let her legs continue to swing as she watched them peel potatoes.
