"Pfft… stuff like that only happens like, once or twice a mont- you know what, I see your point… It's not usually this bad, though." Cas sat down on the bed.
"Pfft… stuff like that only happens like, once or twice a mont- you know what, I see your point… It's not usually this bad, though." Cas sat down on the bed.
Abarat leaned on the wall and crossed his arms. "It's still isn't safe. Do you have anywhere else to live? With family? Friends?"
Cas shook his head. "No friends, and my family is dead. Well, I actually have no clue where my mother is or if she's alive, but I don't plan on looking for her."
(Bump)
(the hell? i answered this.)
Abarat studied him for a moment, sympathizing with him. "Well, if that's the case you're free to stay here for as long as you like."
"R-Really?" Cas looked up, surprised. "I really don't deserve that… thank you…"
He grinned at him, "Please, you deserve more than this!" He spoke with a playful tone, trying to light up the conversation. "Do you and your cats want some food?"
"Oh! Food… um, sure. I've heard eating is good, though I don't do a lot of eating." Cas laughed a bit.
Abarat chuckled. "Well. Okay then." Grabbing his hand, he led him to the kitchen. "Take your pick," he gestured towards the abundance of food he had.
Cas's eyes danced around as he looked at the food, overwhelmed. "Shit… I don't even know what half of this stuff is."
"Heh. Well, try this," he picked up a plate of pancakes that just so happened to be freshly cooked and gave it to him.
"This is probably a really stupid question, but, uh… what is this?" Cas examined the pancakes curiously.
Throwing his head back and laughing, he said, "That's cute. These are called pancakes." He handed Cas a fork, grinning to himself
Cas blushed and sat down, a bit embarrassed. He took a bite of the pancakes. "They're… they're good! What did you say they were again?"
He leaned against the counter. "Pancakes. They're called pancakes"
"I like them…" Cas grinned, acting rather like a child experiencing an interesting new thing.
Abarat watched him eat with curious eyes. "Well, I'm glad you like them."
Cas glanced up at Abarat and blushed again. "Am I acting strange?"
"Well. Kind of. It's just weird to meet someone who hasn't had pancakes before," he laughed softly
"Y-Yeah, probably so…" Cas took another bite. "I mostly just eat bread and a bit of meat when I can get it. My cats help me."
"Speaking of your cats, do you know what they would like to eat today? I have tuna if they like that."
"They're not picky. They'll eat just about anything you give them, but they're not fond of vegetables." A few cats were already sniffing at the pantry and meowing.
Abarat opened the pantry, totally unbothered by the fact that a bunch of cats were about to eat his food. I can always buy more.
The cats found a bag of potato chips near the bottom and managed to rip it open, starting to eat the chips. "I'm really sorry about them… I can make them stop, if you want."
Abarat shook his head. "No, it's fine. I have an excess of food anyway." He smiled at Cas reassuringly
"Alright, if you're sure… at least they'll clean up. They don't leave scraps." He watched as the cats licked crumbs from the ground.
Abarat stretched and yawned. "Well, did you have anything to do today?"
Cas shook his head. "I pretty much just go with the flow. I rarely have plans."
(Any ideas on something they should do? Something fun? Something dangerous?)
(wheeze uh, I have no idea lol. I generally just hurt my characters when needed, which is often. I think he might actually be minorly concussed, so we could technically do something with that)
