"Hey, Lionell!"
"Yeah?"
"Come hold this for me, will ya?"
The Half-Orc pulled himself away from his engraving project to help his mother stabilize a large piece of white-hot steel underneath the power hammer. Grabbing a pair of tongs, he gripped the tip and helped his mother lift it into the waiting dies of their new tool. It was an early anniversary gift from Lionell's father, something that he hooked up to a large waterwheel that was used many years ago when their house was an old bakery. Lionell stared into the light of the hot metal as his mother took charge in moving the piece underneath the curved dies. The curve allowed her to draw out the bar into a flat piece much faster than doing it by hand, and she worked the steel until it was almost perfectly square.
"Alright, pull it out!" his mother yelled over the din of the forge and the timpani of the power hammer. The two quickly moved it to the anvil, the bar having since cooled to a dark orange. As his mother grabbed a chisel, Lionell grabbed a small sledgehammer. She eyeballed how much metal she would need for the rest of the piece and rested the chisel on a spot about three-quarters the length of the piece of steel she was working with. A small nod signaled him to strike the top of the chisel, leaving a line in the steel.
"Keep going!" his mother shouted. "Watch my hand!"
Lionell kept striking the chisel, bits of thin rust flying off of the bar as it slowly cooled. They needed to hurry before the bar became too hard to cut through.
Ting! Ting! Ting! SNAP!
The excess steel fell away from the part Lionell's mother was holding, and she took her piece and placed it in the forge.
"Thanks. When I'm done putting the edge bevel on, would you mind grinding it for me?" she asked.
"Certainly," he replied.
(Oh crapoli heyyy sry)
"Gold and dirt is hardly a way to put it. And we'll award you magic tools and such for the mission, which you may keep. Not only that but if you find any powerful abyssal relics, you may keep them "
Ava's eyes lit up at Magic items. She considered it for a bit before sighing. "I'll go. May I go grab a few things?" She asked.
"You may." The priest nodded, stepping outside to wait for the girl.
"So how many more people do we have to find?" Cas asked, yawning a bit as he pet the kitten he'd found.
Ava grabbed a few of her figurines, the ones she had put enchantments on, a small music box and a charm necklace that she put on. She figured that everything else would be provided. She locked up the shop, left a note for her uncle and walked out to meet the priest.
(Is it alright that instead of having illusions that she is more of a witch?)

(Absolutely)
He greeted her, looking across the way with interest, to a place with windows that glowed like fire.
He saw two orcs in one fiery window, and smiled.
Ava looked at the other boy. "Are you here for the same thing?" She asked. "And is that a cat?" She said looking at the small little nose poking out.
Cas nodded. "Yeah to both…" He lifted up the kitten a bit so it was more visible. "I'm protecting her."
"She's adorable! Can I pet her?" Ava asked. She wasn't old enough to have a familiar but she was so close. She would get hers when she turned 16 which was only in a month if she lived that long.
"Sure." Cas smiled softly and let Ava pet the kitten. "I've got a couple more in my pockets. I found them abandoned and couldn't just leave them there…"
"Aww!" Ava cooed as she held the black(?) kitten. It mewed as she petted her and nuzzled into her. "You're adorable." She whispered to the kitten.
(They can be whatever color lol)
Cas pulled a black kitten with white markings out of his left pocket and a white kitten with black spots out of his right. He placed them gently on each of his shoulders. "I'll call this one Maisie…" He said quietly, stroking the primarily white kitten.
Ava chuckled at this. "They really cling to you, don't they?" She asked. "What's your name?"
"Yeah, I'm like, their leader or some shit." Maisie meowed quietly. "I'm Cas, by the way. You?"
"Ava," She said. "So you're like the king of the cats?" She asked.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that." The black and white kitten started toying with Cas's fluffy hair. "Hard to say why they like me so much, though. It's not just them. I've pretty much got an army of alley cats at my disposal."
"All hail Cas! King of the cats!" Ava announced laughing. The black kitten started to close its eyes as she nuzzled into Ava's arm.
Cas laughed quietly as well. "Yeah… this whole adventure thing is kinda weird, right? Like, am I seriously the only tax collector's son in the entire town? How does he know it's me?"
"I know," Ava whispered. "My family hasn't used magic in public in forever and I know at least two other artisans in this town with daughters."
Cas nodded. "There's no way I'd be particularly helpful on an adventuring team… I'm only really good at herding cats and stuff."
"Is everyone ready?" The priest asked, nodding towards the blacksmith shop.
Ava looked at the priest. "Yes." She said. I wonder who this will be.
Cas nodded again and followed the priest, letting Ava keep holding on to the black kitten.
After looking out for wayward carts, they cross the streets quickly, not wanting to be trampled by some merchants' horses
Ava followed the priest, dodging a few people as they crossed.
There was a knock at the door, so Lionell's father went to get it, peeling himself off of his easy-chair and setting aside his very large stringed instrument. The orc answered the door, towering over the priest. Despite his imposing stature and large tusks, there was a soft gleam to his eyes and a genial smile that betrayed his good nature. After greeting the priest and listening to his request, the orc turned his head back towards the forge.
"Lionell!" he bellowed in Orcish. It was loud enough to be heard over the din of the forge, and the priest flinched. "There's someone here to see you!"
Back in the forge, Lionell grumbled and set down his engraving tools. "What?" he said in Orcish. His father glared at him, so Lionell changed his attitude. "Yes?" he said with a saccharine smile.
Cas looked up at Lionell's father nervously, clearly intimidated by the orc's height. Both the orc and half orc seemed massive from down here at five feet tall.
