James finished with his omelette with a soft grunting noise.
“Maybe it’d be good for you, Nyir.” He rose from his seat and washed off his plate.

@WriteOutofTime

"What, to go crazy?" She pushed herself to her feet, gasping lightly as pain shot through her side. She forced herself to the sink, grabbing a rag to dry. "I'm fine."

Deleted user

James looked at her skeptically at her gasp, huffing at her softly. “Nu-uh. You’d better go sit back down. I heard you gasp.”

@WriteOutofTime

"Shut up, I'm fine," she said again, snatching the wet plate from him and drying it. "You talk about me worrying all the time, but you're the one who worries too much."

“No you ain’t! Go sit back down, I can do the thing,” He huffed loudly, pushing her away with a small bump of his hip to hers. “Gooooooo!”

@WriteOutofTime

She couldn't help but laugh. "Ain't? I didn't teach you that." She dropped the plate onto the counter and raised her hands helplessly. "If you insist, I'll sit." She moseyed back over to her seat, lowering herself into it gingerly. "Happy now?"

Deleted user

Ain’t!!!!” He yelled back with a grin on his goofy face. “You best damn sit baby.” He suddenly had the vocabulary of a motherly woman.

Deleted user

"Mmmmhmmmm well cha'll beta stay there or mmmm baby I'll whip your ass," He sassed at her, wondering if this was starting to get racist and how in the world he was so good at it.

@WriteOutofTime

She buried her face in her hands. "Oh, boy. You sound like that stereotypical Black woman from every old sitcom ever. God, I really need to raise you better."

Deleted user

James exploded into laughter as he went on with the dishes. "You raised me so well I've become the monster you dread."

Deleted user

"You wouldn't. You love me," He cooed, grinning at her over his shoulder. "You've admitted that you've felt better now that I'm cooking all your meals."

Deleted user

"I can see it in your… your face. You look better." He giggled into his hands as he set the washed dishes down into the drying rack.

Deleted user

"Well obviously you were beautiful before. But eating good food regularly really helped with your skin and your attitude." He smiled back at her. "You have a stunning smile, but not the best frown."

@WriteOutofTime

That brought a smile to her face involuntarily. She tried to frown, but she didn't quite manage it, instead pulling an adorable squinty grin. "Stop trying to flatter me!"

Deleted user

"I'm not flattering you!" James protested with a squeak in his voice. "You're so beautiful and charming and amazing, but you frown all the time and it makes me sad."

@WriteOutofTime

She blinked, flushing deeply. "It has to be flattery. There's no way my smile's anything special when yours is the most radiant thing I've ever seen!" she blurted, then flushed even deeper when she realized what she said.

Deleted user

James blushed at her compliment, turning his head. "Nu-uh, this is flattery. What I say is true. You're a very beautiful woman…" He mumbled back, but he was rather taken aback. He didn't know she felt that ways about him.

@WriteOutofTime

"Why would I flatter you?" she said softly, glancing away and trying to cool the warmth in her cheeks. "Look at us. We're being so sappy, it's almost like–" She stopped short, thinking to herself, Almost like those stupid rom coms.

James paused and didn't finish her sentence until a couple moments later. "Like… like a couple?" He asked softly, trying desperately to not make it awkward.

@WriteOutofTime

She froze, blinking. She started to say something. She wasn't sure what she was about to say, only that it was soft and sappy and she might regret it later. "Um–" Suddenly her phone rang. The director was calling. She'd completely forgotten that she'd texted her earlier.

"I'm sorry," she said, not quite sure what she was apologizing for, as she grabbed her phone.

Deleted user

"O-oh, okay!" He turned back to the sink to continue, the clatters dying down as she answered the phone. His cheeks were a bright red and his collar itched at his red neck. He felt like a little idiot. He wasn't sure what she was going to say to him, but he didn't want to ask.

@WriteOutofTime

Nyir lowered her gaze, her smile disappearing. Maybe it was better that she hadn't said anything at all. She picked up her phone, slowly raising it to her ear. "This is Chaser."

"Chaser, it's Evera," the director replied, her voice somewhat muffled. "I'm in and out of meetings today, so make this quick."

She closed her eyes. "Someone's hacked into a data base. I'm thinking a hero corporation's data base. I got a call on my secure line from some hit man or something. Look into it."

Evera was quiet for a long moment. "For your sake, I hope it's a leak." With that, the line went dead. Nyir kept her eyes closed, lowering her phone and clenching her fists. If her number hadn't been leaked, then who had called her?

Deleted user

James stayed quiet as he scrubbed a plate intently, his own smile fading out as he listened to the other's voice. Something bad, it sounded like. The call was quick and short, which was also never a good sign. He didn't ask anything, he knew that annoyed Nyir to some extent when it was about her superhero-ing. he swallowed a little and bit his tongue. He was bursting with curiosity to what she said, but he wouldn't let it eat away at him.

@WriteOutofTime

"I have to go," she said suddenly, rising to her feet carefully. "I won't do anything dangerous, I just need to do some investigating."

Deleted user

James watched her rise to her feet warily, his eyebrows scrunched worriedly. "Okay. Try and be back in time for lunch. I… I think we should talk."

@WriteOutofTime

"I'll try," she promised softly, lightly touching his forearm before heading to her room. Her suit from the night before was torn to shreds, but she found her backup and slipped it on carefully. She just needed to ask the right questions to the right people, that was all. Hopefully she'd get her answers as soon as possible.

(wanna time skip to when she gets back, or should i write what she does?)
